The setting of this place is stellar. Beautiful oaks. Nearby historical ruins. Great hiking. But this is not a "resort". If you're a big rig never ever let them put you in 143. What a mess. We couldn't back in because of this concrete utility thing. (see pics) so we had to pull around the back of the other RV's and try to pull through. It was a nightmare. One of the top 2 worst in our 3 years of full time. This was our first 1000 Trails experience and almost our last. Because the office closed at 2 on a Sunday (who does that??) we had to stay overnight in that awful spot. Thankfully the office accommodated us the next morning and moved us to a much better site. They knew the site couldn't accomodate a 24ft trailer the week before and yet they put our 40+ ft toy hauler in the same spot. They didn't care. And there were random shoes in our fire pit. SMH
All the sites share a water/electric hookup so some are backed in and some pull through. It's chaotic really. Just campers everywhere and nothing clearly defined.
First time in 20+ years we've ever blown a surge protector. There are power surges and brown outs ALL the time. It's really unsafe. The water is brown and even being filtered 4 times we couldn't drink it.
The ONLY redeeming thing about this campground is the area. It's doable for a short time but in no way shape or form would I stay here long term.
Also the dump station (you don't have full hook up) is not practical for large rigs. We had to wait to dump at our next...
Read moreGeographically speaking, this RV Resort is fantastic, which is why I've given it 2 stars instead of just one. However, outside of that, this RV Resort leaves much to be desired.
The laundromat is tiny and cringe worthy. The machines are simply filthy.
Not all sites have sewer lines, which basically forces you to rely on their facilities. Since this is the situation, you would expect that the facilities would be well maintained and that issues would be resolved in a timely manner. The maintenance is mediocre at best. While we were here, the nearest restrooms had a sign posted warning all of us that the showers were not running warm water. It took about 3 to 4 days to remedy this situation, which is just not acceptable.
Likewise, to my understanding, the men's room had stopped up toilets for several days, too. Again, not acceptable.
Luckily, my accommodations were completely covered by my Thousand Trails membership. Though I met some RVers here that were paying $57/night. I've stayed at nicer state parks for less than that.
Would I stay here again? Only if I was completely desperate and had no...
Read moreCabin 2! Run away, I DO NOT recommend staying there!!!.... We walked in and there was food, plastic utensils, cups drinks on the floor some sort of rotten food on the bunk bed, the mattresses were nasty roach poop all over, covers ripped.... Was very obvious has not been cleaned. Graffiti all over with vulgarities too. We tried to clean this cabin up enough ourself but when it came to sleep, we laid down, and a few minutes later, roaches crawling on my fave and arm!....they were all over the bed.... when I tried to call for help, no one answered. The office was closed. The four of us slept in the truck. We would have gone home but we were with two other families who had their own camper. This is our second time here as we liked it 3 years ago....... this time was the worst experience ever....BUT...... the next day, the staff was very apologetic, kind, caring, and empathetic..... they went above and beyond to turn my impression around.... they moved us to a 2 bedroom cottage.... refunded my money. I do recommend the cottage D...
