Let me start by saying that this is a nice hotel. Most of the staff is helpful, and the location is terrific. Great ocean/sunset view from most rooms. Each room has a microwave & refrig, which is convenient. Front office stocked with cold drinks, fruit and sweet of the day. Front decks have outside seating (although the chairs aren’t comfy for lounging, which is a nice thing to do on vaca). On the other hand, the rooms are clean but not well maintained. In my room, there was a stain on the draperies that looked like blood or tomato sauce. Unpleasant. Easy enough to clean with spot remover w/o taking down the drapes. Chipped paint here & there. Mold on bathroom sink. One lamp didn’t work. One piece of furniture was badly cracked. Empty soap dispenser, so we bathed with shampoo. Shortage of TP; one per room, so make it last. In house phone system never worked. Noise may not bother you, but floors are all hardwood. You will hear your neighbors’ footsteps. The sliding door abates outside noise but the headboard wall adjoined my neighbors’ TV wall, so I could hear the TV ALL DAY, even though they did not turn up the volume. Difficult to relax. Only b/c of the noise, I could not stay here again. NOTE: My friend stayed in the standalone cottage. I misread the description, thinking it was a bedroom AND a sitting room. It’s one L-shaped room with bed & foldout sofa. Cramped for 2 people, so I took another room. It would work for parents & kids, but it’s quite small. Definitely not for more than 2 adults. Partial ocean view. But if you don’t spend a lot of time in the room, it might be OK for you. Again, it’s a nice hotel; just not a good...

Read moreMy husband and I have stayed at the Seafoam three or four times within the last couple of years. We loved the laid-back management style, from the nice lady behind the front desk who wouldn't let me pay for milk (even though breakfast service was over), to the staff, who treat you like family. It was always a warm and friendly place.
In the past we have stayed in Room 7 with our small dog. When my husband called and asked for that room with the dog, Crystina (who seems new to the job and unfamiliar with past policies) told him that dogs have never been allowed in the upstairs rooms, and she accused him of sneaking our dog in during those past visits -- which we have absolutely never done. If Seafoam wants to change its policy about which rooms allow dogs, of course they have the right to do that, but to be accused of deception is highly offensive.
Later, when we arranged for a dog sitter and sent an email request to book room 7 (unrelated to the previous telephone call), somehow Crystina was able to tell that it was the same person who had called earlier, and sent a response stating that if we bring the dog, we would have to stay downstairs. What an authoritarian, threatening busy-body! Again, we had not planned to bring the dog, but it's sad that Crystina/"Karen" apparently has nothing better to do than harass customers about imaginary rule-breaking.
Sadly, it looks like Seafoam has changed, and we will not be staying there...
