Edit Since I cannot reply to the hotel directly I will respond here. I wasn't going to get into specifics about the situation, but either this hotel has me confused with another guest (which is entirely possible as the reservation was under my family's name, not mine) or is lying to make themselves look better. I had 3 interactions with staff my entire trip. I never complained about children nor used any derogatory language with staff, so I am genuinely confused about these statements. I called downstairs twice over an hour period concerned about either construction or a potential domestic dispute and was told to change rooms because they could not get the other guest to calm down. My family as well as other guests heard him screaming in his room as well since they were next to him on the top floor. He walked down while I was downstairs waiting for a room change and was clearly intoxicated, barefoot, slurring his words and screaming at the staff. HE was using derogatory and sexist language to the staff and I was as uncomfortable as the front desk ladies during this interaction. Im actually quite surprised they didnt call the police. As i was walking away i could still hear him screaming at them. While I absolutely would've left, the time was 11pm at night and I was in no state to continue driving after an already long day of driving. I didn't receive any additional amenities for the room change and was in fact afraid for my well-being with the intoxicated guest in the hotel (or as they put it their "elite rewards member"). I don't believe putting the blame on myself for how the staff handled a situation with an intoxicated guest is the best course of action. I was actually very nervous to call the front desk as I've never experienced this situation before or even requested a room change in a hotel before. I in no way was rude or hostile to the staff and would've expressed my gratitude but we were interrupted by their "elite rewards member". I think it says a lot on how the hotel responded to my review, basically blaming me for a situation that I didn't cause nor escalate but in fact their staff did not handle correctly. It's also interesting with the limited interaction I had that somehow race is being brought up. I think I said 3 sentences total to the front desk which were all over the phone and I only said my room number when I came down. I stand by my review more now than before based on their response.
Initial Review: We chose this hotel in Fort Stockton because it had the most consistent ratings. It is slim pickings here because the town is so small. I suggest avoiding Fort Stockton all together if you can. However, if you can't avoid it, make sure to stay on the top floor!
The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything, including your neighbors snoring and their alarm clocks going off. The person upstairs sounded like they were moving the furniture all night. I didn't sleep for more than a few hours because of this. My room was also not cleaned, used soap in the shower, and had lots of mold in the grout. Also, WHY is the coffee maker in the BATHROOM?! I'm not sure what kind of laundry detergent they use, but the linens did not smell or feel clean.
I really do not understand all of the 5 star reviews for this place. I guess it makes sense if you are traveling with your dog since this is a dog friendly hotel. But with that being said, many of the non pet rooms smell like pet urine. There is dog poop everywhere in the parking lot, so watch your step!
We only let the staff know about the noise and urine smell because we just needed somewhere to lay our heads for the night. The staff seemed annoyed by our complaints, I'm sure it happens regularly and they can't do anything about it. They did offer to switch rooms, but they were sure to let me know how inconvenienced they were by this.
Final verdict, I would rather sleep in my car at a rest stop off of the interstate than the Best Western in...
Read moreMy son has rare genetic childhood obesity and was treated unfairly by the staff. It was sad and nothing's done about it. I got a call bck from the general manager who was not apologetic at all and actually said. It's your word against hers with no, there was other people and video. Customers who also saw the how she treated him They came up to us and apologized for the woman after she said he couldn't have anymore food Because she quote didn't want to cook anymore. Even though it was 930 in breakfast stops at 10 and there was plenty of food. She just had a problem with his size and it was very clear from the very beginning. He was only down in the like food area. One time that day and she gave him a dirty looks the entire time. No child should ever have to be embarrassed in front of over a dozen people like that with no apology and nothing gonna be done about it. I won't be going back. It makes me sick to my stomach. And still puts me in tears when I talk about it. If she had an issue she could have pulled in massage. She really shouldn't say anything to him. She should have spoken to me. His mother who is right there but she chose to call him out instead.(Voice to txt Due to autoimmune condition my hands don't always work well I apologize) We've stayed here over the last 3 months. I believe 6 times my kids love to swim. Usually there's not any issue with the breakfast or with the staff at all. I had Bariatric surgery myself so I can only eat very small amounts of food. So if sometimes I'll go down about 630 and then I'll go back down. About 930 no staff is ever said anything. We've never had any type of issue before As far as like my kids being treated differently than other people because of their weight. Do the hall the situation was handled? I don't see that I would ever take my child back there. And risk him being treated the same way or my daughter who also has BbS1. Due to my kids medication, they don't actually fill hunger and they actually eat small amounts 6x a day. My husband can eat more than us 3 together. Easy and nothing is has ever been said to him nor did she ever give him dirty looks. You can't make a assumptions just because someone is heavy. And you should never, ever have to watch your child. Be treated the way that I saw my child be treated that day by a...
Read moreI made a reservation for a double queen, pet friendly, wheelchair accessible room and received an email confirmation for the room. We arrived early the next day @ 3:00 and I was shocked to hear them tell me that the room wasn't available. Don't trust them to honor your reservation!
Santosh's reply below is a mixture of lies & truth, but mostly lies!
FACT: We had a reservation for a double queen, pet friendly, wheelchair accessible room. Upon arrival we were informed that that room wasn't available but we could have a pet friendly, wheelchair accessible room with a king bed. Since there were 3 adults, one being my 93 yr old mother, a king bed room was unacceptable!
LIE: "I changed my mind about needing a wheelchair accessible room"! TRUTH: In order to get a double queen, pet friendly room, wheelchair accessible was not an option!
LIE: "You mentioned that you are allergic to cats" TRUTH: There was absolutely no discussion about cats! And we are NOT allergic to cats!
TRUTH: When she called to ask about the room, I did say "very nice", which it was, BUT my mother had not yet attempted to access the bathroom using her walker, which was very difficult for her.
Bottom line is that we were NOT given the room which we had reserved and the king room that was offered would not work, so I HAD to make a decision...I did NOT change my mind and we are NOT allergic to cats!
Santosh, why were we told that that the room we reserved was not available! Answer truthfully because it had NOTHING to do with cats and I DIDN'T ...
