I only gave this Red Roof one star because I had to give it something. There is no zero. In other words, avoid this place at all costs. It reminded me of a hotel where you rent a room for an hour. Admittedly, some Red Roof Inns are very nice. That was not the case here. Let's begin with "curb appeal." The asphalt-cracked and pitted parking lot was littered with cigarette butts and broken glass. Not just two or three but many cigarette butts. It was as if people emptied their car ashtrays and then left. Check-in wasn't much better. The clerk took a phone call during our checking in process and he yelled at least three times to the person on the other end of the call, telling them to stop calling and interrupting him. He finally slammed the phone receiver back on the phone, which took two tries because he was so angry. After we were checked in, he informed us that there would be a $100 hold on my credit card in case we damaged or stole anything from the room. This reservation, made in February through the Red Roof web site was non-refundable and non-changeable. Our room: The best part about our room is that the beds were made. I had to go back to the front desk to get toilet paper, as the one roll in the bathroom was almost gone and there were no spares. Not only was the toilet unstable on its base, the seat was shifting back and forth, left and right. It seemed that the toilet itself was very low to the floor, making it difficult to sit and stand. The bathroom itself was unsightly as far as the walls go. Paint was either chipped or missing and just dirty looking around the fixtures. At that point, I was ready to leave and come back home. But the straw that broke the camel's back was the heater. It didn't work. There was no heat at all blowing out. It was all cold air. The room was frigid. The person who came to inspect the heater admitted that it wasn't emitting any heat and we were offered another room next door. But we told them that we were not satisfied and we demanded a refund. We were issued a refund, but I haven't seen it yet on my bank statement. I had to take their word for it. In short, my advice is to find a different Red Roof if your are a patron of their hotels. Avoid this one at all costs. It should...
Read moreThe management wasn’t very friendly. The management also double charged me for a weekend stay. My budget is very tight as I’m in a very low income. The front desk when inquiring about the double charge said the $260.92 would be refunded & fall off their records. The better Business Bureau has many complaints of them double charging. When talking to desk on 3-24 when they tried taking back out of my account $260.92 said the $160.98 sitting to be released. I paid 1 nite on 1-21-22 with $100.00 deposit. Decided to stay weekend of 1-22-22 & 1-23-22. I got double charged. I was charged $260.98 then $160. 98 + another $100.00 deposit. For 2 nite stay that weekend. According to them $260.92 would fall off, refunded to me. It was on 2-20-22 but on 3-24-22 Red Roof tried taking back that amount , front desk said they have the $160.98 to be released. Of course it bounced causing me to be neg. in bank account. They have tied up my money for 2 months now. I originally booked on line, so that $100.00 deposit couldn’t be transferred to weekend booking Red Roof had to charge deposit again since booked directly with them at front desk. So I’m due $100.00 deposit from on line booking. Then $100.00 for further stay of weekend & 1more day. Deposits are refundable. I kept room spotless. Red Roof saw they refunded $100.00 dep. & then new management thought I was over paid back although I wasn’t . No one there knows in management what or how the system works. Mr. K automatically assumes he’s right by looking at records , then flat refusing to make it right. Not same management. BBB has complaints about this to. Now I’m overdrawn as I never got any notice from them playing with my money. I’m on a serious budget and this has gave...
Read moreBooked on booking.com. They suck by the way. No customer service whatsoever. No one told me about the $100 deposit for smoking. But we don’t smoke….cigarettes. To be sure it was in the fine print. But yeah, normally I would’ve just paid it, complained about it. And then got it back at checkout. But the Mexican chick behind the counter was barely able to take her cell phone off her head to check me in. I didn’t have an extra $100 on me. So I had to move money from one card to another. So the check in process was an hour long. That chick at the desk stayed on her phone laughing and acting annoyed by me and my exhausted families desire for a clean bed and a drink. I unfortunately booked 3 non-refundable nights at this hell hole. The shower was about as nice as the ones in jail are. Kinda like standing in the warm rain. Never brought clean new towels. For 3 days. And we even called the front desk twice to request them. The hallways smelled like straight up marijuana. Which was kind of nice. But there was no marijuana for us. Indiana is sucky. Sodas were overpriced even for a hotel. Keys stopped working all the time. And I still haven’t gotten my deposit back for the smoking in the room chance. They said if I would be paid cash they would’ve handed it right to me. But since I put it on a card. I need to wait 2-3 days. They could not care less if you stay there or not. I knew I would regret going with a cheaper place. But they ruined every single day there for us. Do not stay here. No matter what. It totally sucks. I wish it would let me give them less than 1 star. No breakfast. No coffee. No turn down. Stay in your car before...
