AWESOME PLACE!! We had the pleasure of visiting Liberty Diner while visiting Fort Wayne for our father's memorial service. We were staying across the street and were pleasantly surprised to find a diner so close, especially after reading all the wonderful reviews. I will say first off that our waitress Chris was by far one of the best waitresses I have ever been served by, she was friendly, attentive, had no issues answering any question about items on the menu...and believe me there were many I think she told us over 300 items...it took us near 30 minutes to decide what to order as they all sounded so appetizing...not once did she get annoyed when we asked her opinion about an item or exactly what was in it, as many do when u ask too many questions and they are busy, she left us numerous times while we were deciding, each time coming back within 5 minutes or so to make she were weren't ready. She joked and laughed with us the whole time and was very pleasant to all of her customers that we saw her wait on, definitely a top notch hard working waitress that seemed to really enough her job, because yes that does make a difference. Once we decided on a meal we were very pleased with ALL of our food. The chicken was a fresh local, little roaster chicken, as they should be, nice and tender, and the roasted potato was actually much different then the roasted potatoes made in our area and definitely the best I have ever had, they were not cut in pieces as normally served in my local diner, but a whole half of potato roasted..delicious..yes it truly was. The chili was great, especially for those who don't like a lot of beans, there was a smaller bean than I'm used to having in chili, not kidney beans, and there were just enough..also had a nice little kick to it, not too spicy but just enough heat. The potato skins were again one of if not the best I have ever had (and I come from Long Island NY the capital of potato skins, a staple at any local bar), they were off the charts, they were first deep fried then smothered in melted cheddar and nice crispy bacon, not chewy half cooked fatty bacon, nice crispy lean bacon, served with sour cream and salsa. And yes we got a little basket of fresh baked bread, crackers and butter along with our meal. The decor was nice, not tacky like many diners in NY, they still had the strip of neon known for diners but it was not too much, the place was very clean, not leftover food under the table, all the condiments fully stocked on the table, and even the coffee was hot and FRESH at almost 9pm...even the decaf. I never write such a long review but felt it necessary to be sure those visiting the area or locals that may never have dined here, make a pit stop at Liberty Diner if you want a delicious, reasonably priced meal with equally excellent service...oh and by the way THEY HAVE CREPES...not a lot of places make them anymore due to the inconvience and time it takes to make a good one and it's one of my favorites..we will be here for 2 more days and most definitely plan on having breakfast there Sunday before we leave...and yes I am having the crepes, and hooefully Chris us our waitress again! The last thing that my sister and I loved were the flowers on the table...in the middle of winter this small quaint little place has FRESH flowers on every table..never have I seen that, most are fake, they were so pretty we thought they were and didn't realize they were real until we touched them..it was a great touch and lets you knows that the owners truly respect and take care of their restaurant..who does those things anymore? Liberty Diner does...and no I am not related to nor do I know anyone that owns it or works there, this is an honest and true review..and I like to give a good review to a deserving place and staff..so Thank You Liberty Diner for making our not so pleasant visit to Fort Wayne and...
Read moreI have to say, our experience at Liberty Diner was truly "flipping" fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles as bright as the sun on a syrup-soaked pancake. The atmosphere was buzzing with a delightful energy that made us feel right at home.
Now, let's talk about the food because, oh my goodness, it was an epicurean adventure! My kids dove headfirst into stacks of fluffy pancakes that seemed to reach the heavens. Their eyes sparkled with every bite, and I couldn't help but join in on the pancake party. It was a syrupy symphony of pure joy!
As for my incredible fiancé, they opted for an omelette that was truly "egg-cellent" in every way. It was a masterpiece of perfectly cooked eggs, overflowing with a medley of delicious fillings. Each bite revealed a delightful surprise, and their smile grew wider with every forkful.
Now, my personal journey took me down a savory path to a hamburger that could make even the pickiest burger connoisseur weep with joy. The patty was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, nestled between two fluffy buns that were like edible clouds. It was a burger that made me want to shout, "Liberty Diner, you've stolen my heart and my taste buds!"
But it wasn't just the food that made our experience special. The staff at Liberty Diner deserves a standing ovation for their incredible service. They treated us like family, making sure our glasses were always full and our smiles never faded.
So, if you're looking for a place to enjoy a delightful meal with your loved ones, Liberty Diner is the place to be. Whether you're craving pancakes that defy gravity, omelettes that will make your taste buds dance, or burgers that'll leave you in awe, this diner has it all. Trust me, you'll leave with a belly full of delicious memories and a smile that can light up the night. Liberty Diner, thank you for a truly...
Read moreAnother decidedly average diner. I had a custom omelette with bacon, gyro, corned beef hash, mushrooms and onions, as well as a smoked salmon and potato pancakes breakfast, an Alpine burger and a Fish and Chips. 3 of them came with clam chowder. Pretty much nothing deviated much from the norm, which... makes for a very boring place to review, honestly. There's not much to say about anything in particular. I haven't felt this way since West Coast Grille.
The omelette was a bit dry, but otherwise about what you would expect. Cosmos sells creamier omelettes for cheaper. Their portion is a little larger too iirc, but don't quote me on that.
The burger was boring, not as good as IHOP's offering, let alone Red Robin's, while being a lot more expensive. The bacon on it was also way too dry. But other than that, again, it's about what you'd expect.
Fish and chips is nice, nothing too special.
The smoked salmon and potato pancakes is... just that. Walmart smoked salmon with the usual fixings, and potato pancakes. Again, not much to talk about.
The last thing is the clam chowder, which is about as creamy as you'd expect from a side, with an average amount of clam, which is just small enough not to break their budget while still being present in your mouth. Again, just your average clam chowder. Nothing at all too special.
They also skimp on sides while having higher price than other local favorite breakfast places, such as Lakeside Cafe, Cosmos, or the old Athenian Family Restaurant which is now closed.
That's it I suppose. I ordered delivery since I didn't go there in person and honestly, the atmosphere didn't seem like something I'd set out a day for. Enjoy the picture if you need any...
