The staff was perfectly nice, but you could tell they were newer. Everything took longer than it needed to. They called me the day of check in (while I'm at the airport) to say the room I booked months ago wasn't going to be available and they needed to split us into two rooms. A little late, so nothing I could do. I couldn't make new arrangements for 7 people. They did offer us a F&B credit, which was nice. But they only have one restaurant and one bar/grill for the entire resort, so only one kitchen. We couldn't get into the restaurant, so we went to the grill. It took about an hour to get our food from when we ordered. When we got to our two separate rooms, the king suite was missing things. It didn't have the timer on the wall in the bathroom to be able to turn the fan/heater on. The bathroom doors are sliding and there is no handle on the inside. There are no area rugs and few wall decorations to absorb any of the sound with their all-plank flooring. The closest outlet to the bed is covered by the sliding bathroom door so you can't actually use it. And right next to our heads all night was the loudest a/c unit on the other side of the wall. The next day, they said our correct room would be ready by noon (check out is 11). We waited to do anything so that we could swap rooms. I checked at noon and it still wasn't ready. We waited a little before deciding to go to the restaurant for lunch. We had to check all of our luggage to be held while we eat. The restaurant was completely empty aside from one other table and it still took more than half an hour to get our food, which were simple things like pancakes and eggs. I had the most disgusting plate of what they called “strawberry beignets” which definitely weren’t. All it was were hot gooey strawberries deep fried. The outside was definitely not beignets. Luckily, they took that off the bill when I told them how disappointing it was.

The room we moved into was the 2-bedroom suite. You can hear every single sound and movement. And all the thermostats have to be set to the same temperature or they shut off. You better hope everyone in the 2 bedrooms and the living like the same temperature. The double queen room, however, has no opening for fresh air. The window is a solid almost floor to ceiling piece that doesn’t open. Everyone in that room couldn’t get comfortable. At least the king room had a patio slider. The room is based on an 8-person occupancy, but the dining table only has 6 seats, so we couldn’t even all sit together. The shower door in the king bedroom didn’t have a lining on the door so water spilled out while we showered. I also ran out of hot water while I was showering… in 20 minutes. We had tried to call the restaurant to order for pick-up and it just went to voicemail twice. We finally had to send people down to order and wait over 30 min for the food and bring it up for the rest of us. When we had leftovers later that night, the oven wouldn’t light.

The free shuttle service was not as described online. Online, it says they run their routes every half hour for their respective destinations. This made it seem like a simple hop on hop off type of deal. The shuttles actually have to be reserved and show up on the app like an Uber, sometimes saying we had to wait 84 minutes for a van. Needless to say, we didn’t use it for any of our rides from the resort, only for the pickup back to it. And each time we went outside after ordering Lyfts, there would be empty shuttles parked there and drivers asking if we needed rides. Something’s not lining up. We also found that the Market in the lobby barely gets restocked and never changes what’s in there.

As a travel professional, this stay was embarrassing. The photos and website make it seem much more comfortable and elegant than it actually is. I would never recommend this place to any...

This is a beautiful, luxurious, affordable, family friendly resort that is perfect for a weekend getaway!!

I really don't like to leave less than five stars on reviews because more often than not, bad reviews are ((usually)) left by someone that is just a negative Nancy, who's bitter, has a chip on their shoulder and/or doesn't want to accept responsibility and publicly criticize themselves for their actions, or behaviors that potentially lead up to the reason of the bad review on the internet. (Calm down Karen, I said ((usually)) 🤣😂)

OKAY!! Let's start with the good ✨ then I'll explain the reason for only three stars for the room 😕

Upon approaching the facility, you are greeted by a very nice man, who is more than happy to help with your bags (don't forget to tip him 💵!).

As you enter just inside the doors of the lobby, you are greeted by a very large citrine cathedral geode (at least that's what it looks like!) and it is breathtaking 💕 Just beyond that you'll find some very comfortable seating arrangements, as well as two beautiful fireplaces to keep you warm.... well because you're in Park City (although the address said Heber, which I'm still a little confused about because it's actually closer to Park City 🤔).

Upon approaching the front desk, you are greeted with a warm, friendly hello....from not only one, but two ✌🏻 concierge!! ✌🏻!! ((⬅️ see what I did there?! 😏😁))

As you head-on up to your room, stop, look around, and really just take in how beautiful this place really is!!! More on the room later...

The game room was really fun..... and spacious! Inside you will find a couple pool tables, an air hockey table, board games, a shuffleboard (I don't actually know if that's what it was called, but that's what I'm going to go ahead and call it haha!), a couple ping pong tables, as well as a whole lot of TVs to watch your favorite sport or TV show on!!! Tons of seating! My husband and 7-year-old loved the chairs they could spin around in 🤣. There are couches and quite a few round, counter height tables with chairs, but my favorite was the wooden table which we had a really great culinary experience on! ((See photos))

The entire facility was extremely well kept and decorated beautifully!! Gave me a 'lil inspiration!! ❤️

The pool was by far, our daughter's favorite!! She didn't want to go anywhere else except the swimming pool..... All. Three. Days. 👙 🥽🏊🏻‍♀️.....but that was quite all right, because the hot tub was extremely hot and I'm always cold, so it was perfect! The poolside gathering area was remarkable!! Tables with fire pits, lounge chairs, visiting chairs, couches ((yes couches... at the pool)) which were surprisingly very comfortable and the theme was well kept with the beautiful decor throughout the resort, giving the place a very elegant feel.

Okay, on to the three stars.... ⭐⭐⭐😕 The only reason I didn't give our room five stars, is because of the noise coming from the vents in the ceiling throughout the hotel. The sound was so loud! Our air conditioner was also making a very loud buzzing noise... on and off all night long, which made it hard to get a good night's sleep, so we ended up turning it off because it wasn't working very well to cool our room anyway 🫤

The door to the bathroom was falling off the hinges and we had to lift up and push it back to get it to close all the way..... which I'll be honest after several times you just get tired of man handling a door🚪, so we just left it open a little 🤢🚽🦨 🪠😂

That's all. I'm sure there was just some kind of mechanical issue that was the reason for the vents in the hall being so loud and I'm guessing that had something to do with the air conditioner as well 🤷🏻‍♀️, but overall I still give it five...

We just returned after spending a week at Black Rock Mountain Resort. We have travelled extensively and stayed on properties similar to this (condos equipped for cooking and extended stays with family) many times in many locations.

Pros- Fantastic location with access to Park City, the Heber Valley, the Provo River and the Uintas Mountains. Our particular unit was clean with nice furnishings. The beds were good quality the stove was good quality and we enjoyed spending time in the condo with our kids. Young staff working at the pool area were friendly and engaging.

Cons- Hotel is experiencing active construction. Workers arrived before 7am and while they didn’t run big equipment before 7am, they were setting concrete forms very early which was noisy. We don’t sleep in so this wasn’t a huge issue but it could be. Game room needed attention. There were 2 pool tables and 6-8 pool cues but only 1 had a working tip. We reported this but it wasn’t addressed during our stay. Steam Room didn’t work when we tried to use it. Internet in our unit didn’t work at any point of our stay but worked in the lobby normally. We reported this to the front desk immediately but it wasn’t addressed during our stay.

Serious misses- It is important to know before booking that if you use a 3rd party (VACASA, Airbnb) you will have a distinctly different and I would say tacky experience compared to those who book directly through the resort. If you have an issue in your room, you will be told to contact the unit owner. There is no option for housekeeping or towel exchanges. If you ask to have the trash removed you will be directed to put it in the hall. If you go to the pool and wish to use one of the resort towels, you will be denied and told to use towels from your unit (see attached photo.) Our unit had only a handful of bath towels. Front desk staff lacked information, provided inaccurate information and contributed to a general unwelcome feeling throughout our staff. Example 1: When we arrived there was a sign listing July 4th activities in the area. When we asked where specific activities would take place, the first desk staff member said “in town” and the other said he didn’t know. We later discovered that some July 4 activities were in Park City and others were in Heber City and Midway. Example 2: Our booking website listed a barbeque grill as one of the unit’s amenities. When we asked about this the first staff member told me he “didn’t know “where the grill was located and the second said there were no grills at the resort and that barbeque grills are not allowed in the county due to fire concerns. When I looked into this online I found no restrictions on gas barbeque grills. Example 3: Our internet did not work in our room. We ran speed tests that confirmed we had basically no working service. The front desk staff member told us that we needed to contact the unit owner because “he probably didn’t install the booster” and that resort staff were not allowed to enter our unit. The previous day a member of the resort staff entered our unit and fixed a door issue.

In summary, this resort has a ton of potential. The location is fantastic and the rooms are very nice. The issues with inconsistent service detailed in this review, however, lead us to believe Black Rock Mountain Resort will struggle in the very competitive resort environment in the...
