Bryce Canyon Pines was the only disappointing campground on our otherwise epic 2 week trip around the desert southwest. They put us right in the tiny joke of a front row spot at the intersection of all the dusty gravel road driveways. IMPORTANT: if they assign you B1 or any of the sites near the front, get in your vehicle and find a new campground. At least ask for a huge discount. It's a joke. The cars all fly past the 5 mph speed limit sign without a look, dusting you and your family down in the process. The thing that really ticked me off was watching the campground employee fly by in the golf cart at full speed around 15-20mph too, dusting us down. So much for enforcing speed limits if the owners allow the staff to break the rules. Ridiculous.

We decided to just enjoy the National Park and try to stay away from this sad campground as much as possible. But here's when we decided an appropriate review was necessary: some guy locked the 2-shower, 2-toilet bathroom that is the ONLY bathroom for the WHOLE place! My 11 year old had gone up to use the restroom and when I found out he was locked out, I banged really hard on the door and this obese imbecile with no teeth and half drunk/loaded comes to the door completely naked! Something my kid didn't need to see. To his credit, he said "sorry, I didn't mean to the lock the door" Yeah, right! I was pretty miffed after already hating the campground...but there's more! The guy finishes up his shower and jumps into a junky old brown van parked by the bathroom and took off. He was apparently not even staying there. Looked more like a bootlegger horning in on the wide-open, unsecured, sketchy showers.

What's more, they clean the bathrooms right when people are getting up in the morning at like 7 to 8 and you are greeted with a "closed for cleaning" sign! WTH? How about cleaning before or after everyone is gone? Obviously, the place empties out during the day when people are exploring.

Can't believe we paid more $$$ for this dump with the other really nice places around. Desperation move. So, be warned; this place is right by a loud road, accessible to anyone who wants to stop in for the single bathroom (use caution with kids), and you'll be sharing your showers with no-teeth, foot fungus freeloader bums off the highway. God help you if you get a first row site - make sure all your windows are closed because you're about to have a dust bath you won't clean out of your camper easily.

The icing on the cake was when we were 5 minutes away from leaving this dump. When we were all packed up with just one or two items before jumping in the car, a guy rolls up in a beat up pickup with garbage cans in the back and says, "you guys are 15 minutes late, but I'll let you off the hook". I laughed and said that I might let him off the hook for the dustbowl and dump that is Bryce Canyon Pines this time but he should pay me to have stayed there!...

We had a very frustrating experience with this campground. First, I want to note that I made my reservation online in December, for an end-of-April stay. I noted we wanted to have a tent site (for as much quiet as possible) and that we would have 2 camper vans of 19ft each. My reservation was accepted. 1 week before our trip we decided we wanted to extend our stay by one night. I called and was told the campground wasnt open Mondays, call tomorrow. I call Tuesday and get the night added but then was told that we couldnt dump any black (we dont have) or grey water (do, from sink) in the campground. No problem with us. I asked about late check in and was told I would have to call back again the next day b/c she only works the motel. I call again, get grilled about the black and grey water tanks again and only then am I informed that 2 vans wont fit in the campground sites. Needless to say this was information that would have helpful before. So 1 week before we are scrambling. We decide to cancel all nights except for the first, so I call and do that. We arrive at 9pm only to find that a) most tent sites could easily fit 2 vans and much worse b) the port a potty that is the 'bathroom' in the tent area is locked. And we are put into a site right next to both the highway and the RVs, even though the rest of the tent sites were empty. Did I mention there was no open bathrooms!!!??? So we go to check out the next day, mad as hell, and we are informed that the port a potty company from Kanab cant be reached to open them up, and there was a bathroom, with showers, on the back of the Chevron. NONE of the many times I called was this mentioned, nor was it posted on the Chevrom (when we arrived it was closed), nor was it posted or mentioned in our after-hours check in material. Staff was sorta apologetic but also threw up their hands and acted like nothing could be done. Summary: tent sites were ok, small-ish and near the road, but in pines. The bathroom in the Chevron is actually pretty decent. We didnt shower but flushing toilets while camping is great. But the biggest frustration was the utter lack of communication and unprofessionalism of anyone we talked to. I had to call multiple times to get things arranged properly, we werent informed of the 1 van limit, and we werent informed of the bathroom situation, which is pretty...

I was having a great experience up until I spoke with the manager Rick. I called because I got charged $50 and from the moment Rick picked up the phone he was extremely rude and condescending and I told him he didn’t need to be a jerk to me and he said he was having a bad day. I asked if I could speak with a manager and he said he is the manager. I will never return to this campground nor will I recommend it because of my conversation with Rick. The response from the owner is exactly how you will get treated. I did not treat Rick any sort of way. He was the one who was extremely rude the second he picked up the phone. The first words out of his mouth on the phone while yelling he said and I quote "You left your fire pit burning, you wanna see a video of it? I got a video of it right here!" I then said you don't need to be a jerk and asked for his name and supervisor and he said "I am the manager, I dont have to give you my name". I don't understand how it's okay to treat people that way. When we left the campsite there was no smoke coming from the pit. Even if there was just charge me the $50. I poured water on the logs and separated them. I wasnt trying to be malicious. You don't need to be a jerk when I call and simply ask why I was being charged extra. Be professionals. You should treat your customers better!...

Tent camped here. It has some trees in the campground which is good, but finding shade for your tent is still a challenge. Varying degrees of almost level ground, but manageable for tents. Rudimentary fire pits made of a hole surrounded by stones, but grills must be rented or brought by you. Call ahead to make sure there aren't fire restrictions from the Forest Service in place if you want to cook in the fire pit or with briquettes. Gas stoves were still an option even with restrictions. It's associated with a Chevron with a convenience store which is nice. They have ice which is important. Cons: It's right next to Highway 12 which makes it a noisy place (that means it's is also next to the excellent trail along Highway 12). There are porta potties throughout the tent camping area. Their simmering July odors seem to waft their gentle way to your campsite no matter which way the wind is blowing. They even invite themselves into your tent some evenings. Woke up once thinking I still had toddlers. There are some showers and flushing toilets at the gas station, but don't plan on showering from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. because that's when they are cleaned. I thought the fees were too expensive. The noise and porta potties were too much for me. All of the natural pine air fresheners around us couldn't compete.

Close to one of the most beautiful places in the world. See Pics. Campground sites are small, very close to each other, kindly leveled but you may need some wood for your tire, full hookups, clean. Check-in was easy, discount as teacher, clean room while waiting for laundry and great Wifi. If you’d spend most of your time at the NP, this is the place. It is located by a farm with cows running close to the campground. This is a family friendly site.
