I sit here asking myself how this place has as good of reviews as it does because wow it was just a horrible experience. It has to be the elk burger keeping these ratings so high because everything else about this place is zero stars. We arrived around lunch time to a sign please wait. We waited and waited when someone finally sat us. There was already water at the table so that was good, but we had to wait quite a while for a server to come. There were atleast four employees just standing around chatting, one on his phone, one folding napkins. All at the bar area while you could hear other patrons complaining. I know I know you’re saying why didn’t we leave right then. Well, we were starving and had been traveling for hours. Once our waiter came we ordered some fountain drinks and our food. We ordered hot wings, fish and chips and an elk burger. Our drinks took a while to come out because our waiter forgot. Yep. When they did arrive they weren’t even filled to the top or near it. Then the hot wings came out and looked and were utterly disgusting. They were breaded as it said on the menu, but these were more like baby fried chicken. No sauce and so dry we tried a piece of one and told them we’d like to order something else and chose another elk burger. The fish and chips soon followed and had to be out of a frozen box because again gross. Our waiter said he’d take a little off the bill. ($6 what a joke). He then took the food came back out and plopped himself at the bar with all the other “workers”. Our burgers finally came out after another employee came from the back to tell the waiter they were ready. We’d almost given up, but they were hands down delicious. Perfectly cooked, fresh veggies though the lettuce (shredded) was barely there. We were given no refills until I flagged him down and he asked if we were taking it to go. At that point we just asked for the check. Vibe is basic. You can feel the hate my job tension and bring a fly swatter. Definitely not worth the stop unless you don’t care about service and are only eating the well...
Read moreWe showed up, no greeter at the front. Long waiting list for sure. I overheard there were only two servers but I saw at least two other young ladies there serving drinks and the other sitting at the bar rolling up silverware. The waiter Tritton and greeter were nice but the food was just meh. The mashed potatoes with the roast beef was okay-ish but when we got our plates you could tell the plates had been sitting a while, the gravy on both plates had the dried coating (from when it cools). And what's with the tomato slice on lettuce with the roast beef meal? Is that garnish? Waste of food. The cheeseburger was medium rare, when cut in half and squeezed I noticed blood coming out and it was still pink in some spots. I prefer my meat fully cooked because I don't want to get food poisoning. I asked for the burger to be cooked well done, so Tritton took it back to the kitchen and who knows what went on in there. I got the burger back 5 minutes later with the same squished buns (from when I squeezed it the first time) but this time with a couple packs of mustard and a pack of mayo. Wow. It looked like the chef or someone just took it apart to take the meat out cook it again and put it back? I don't know. I squeezed it again and it seemed okay, but when I pulled it apart into pieces I still saw blood and pink spots. First of all, it should've been tossed and a fresh burger meal should've been served. Second, we shouldn't have been charged for such a disappointing meal (since I got the same burger back). Gross. I wouldn't recommend a burger from here or their food, unless you like mediocre food and super long waits. In all my years of cooking, I'd be so embarrassed to serve something like that to a customer. We definitely won't be back and don't recommend this restaurant at all. We are very disappointed but Tritton and the greeter were friendly. So that's why it's two stars. Would've been one star really. For $85, you'd think the food would knock your socks off, not have you running for the restroom because you lost your appetite. (Barf). -food...
Read moreI have lived in the west coast for the past 12 years, and this might be the worst "True Racist" encounter that I have experienced. It's almost astonishing that whenever I do experience such racism, it always comes from people of color - never from white people.
Long story short: it was a male Mexican employee who was our server.
This waiter seemed to be very polite to the other customers in the restaurant - white customers - so I expected the same. As soon as he comes to our table, his attitude changed.
He side eyed and immediately had an annoyed impression. No greetings nor respectful manner, but only frustrated tone that couldn't answer a simple question of, "What's the soup of the day?" with even the slightest respect. All we got was, "No." Still no eye contact nor full attention.
We ordered one of ribeye steak, new york strip, and fish and chips. While ordering the steaks, he demanded me for something. Due to his thick accent, I could not understand, so I asked politely of what he was asking for. He then got very frustrated and raised his voice and began slamming the menu on the table with his pointer finger. At this point I realized that his attitude wasn't a coincidence.
After the rough order, I witnessed him respectfully serving other white American customers as well as referring to them as "mam" and "sir."
I have lived in a super liberal city, moderate city, and I currently live in a super conservative town. Never have I ran into a person who's as blatantly racist as this guy. Truly unfortunate that he is this way. It was my parents' first trip in the US since 2011. Disappointment and pity I feel - especially because he seemed to be an immigrant.
However, the food was good as well as other waitresses. If you are white, I highly recommend. If you are any type of East Asian, avoid this place unless you don't mind the chance of getting this male waiter of color that may spit in your food and give you a...
