Absolutely Disgusting Experience at Red Roof Inn in Freehold, NJ I’ve stayed at several Red Roof Inns in the past and never had an issue, nor have I ever written a negative review about anyone or anything before. However, my experience at the Red Roof Inn in Freehold, NJ, was completely unacceptable. I made a reservation in advance and called on the day of my stay at 1:15 PM to confirm if I could check in a little later than the stated check-in time of 2:00 PM. I was told it would be fine. Hours later, I received an email canceling my reservation without explanation. I called back, and an employee named Wattsy told me it was a mistake made by a trainee. Wattsy did provide me with a new room, but it had two twin beds instead of the original king-size bed I had reserved, yet I was still charged the original amount. During check-in, I asked for a new email confirmation of the rebooked reservation, which was never provided. Additionally, I was surprised to be charged for the room AND deposit before checkout. There were alot of questions I asked where I could not get a straight answer and was very unsure. When I finally got into my room, I was immediately hit with the smell of must and mold. The shower ceiling is rotting and moldy, and there was black hair in the shower—disgusting, especially since I don’t have black hair. To make matters worse, the disposable travel-size shampoo and conditioner were never refilled and were sitting there half empty, leaving me without the basic fresh amenities that are standard with my stay. On top of this the television does not work. As if that wasn’t enough, a man was circling the parking lot, asking if I was alone, inquiring about room pricing, and questioning who I was with. This made me feel incredibly unsafe. Due to this lack of security and cleanliness of the room , I called the Freehold, NJ location directly, as I was too afraid to walk across the parking lot to the lobby to speak with the on-duty employee but there was no answer . I also was very suprisd they charged me both a deposit and my room charge before check out. This is my first negative review ever, and it’s unfortunate that it’s for a Red Roof Inn, a brand I once trusted. This experience was absolutely disgusting, and I hope serious action is taken to address these issues.

My boyfriend and I traveled to the area for a wedding nearby. We were traveling with our dog, and this hotel was pet-friendly, which was quite limiting in the area. We were happy to find a place so close to the venue. Unfortunately, it was filthy and an overall uncomfortable experience. The floors were covered in dirt like they hadn't been cleaned in god knows how long and were lifting with sharp edges. Fortunately, we avoided injury there, though I came close on two occasions. The sheets were terribly stained. There was black hair around the sink, so obviously that had not been cleaned. The plastic stand with hotel info on it was used by a prior guest or a worker to smush a large bug and apparently preserve it, as no one thought to clean or remove that. Ironically, that plastic stand with the smushed bug was placed right next to the tip envelope. The next morning, as we were loading up the car, a woman from housekeeping said, "Namaste" as she walked toward me and I wished her a great day ahead. She then proceeded to stand behind me repeatedly yelling, "My tip, my tip." This is extremely unprofessional and quite frankly comical after the filthy and unpleasant experience we had just last night. Not to mention, we had paid $120 for this one-night stay. So, no, we definitely did not give her a cash tip. But, if this establishment would like a more productive tip, here's one: CLEAN YOUR HOTEL ROOMS AND RAISE YOUR STANDARDS. This is disgusting and you should be embarrassed to operate this business. Should we find ourselves in this area again, our response will be, "Namaste... anywhere else."

I'm very disappointed that I have to write this review. I waited three weeks reached out to corporate reached out to this particular location because I found bugs in my room. The sheets were ripped there was stains on the towels and the sheets. They even called me a liar and the email that they sent back to me after not responding to me for 3 weeks when I contacted them which is why I finally reached out to corporate. Furthermore I did notify them I called them at the front desk. The young kid working at the desk did offer to move me but unfortunately I just drove 6 hours after working an 8-hour shift and I had covid and I just wanted to lay down. These people are absolutely ridiculous I would choose never to stay at this location again. Which is pretty sad I work at a hotel myself so I'm pretty understanding even though I work at a high scale hotel that treats people with respect and we try to do everything we can in our establishment to help people unlike this particular location. So I am sorry that I worked an 8-hour shift drove 6 hours head covid and inconvenience them because I feel like my room should have been ready I put some of the dead bugs that I found on a tissue for them I took pictures now I'm attaching it for the whole world to see and not just corporate and the location very disappointing shame on this establishment

COCKROACHES BEWARE! I booked this "hotel" on Priceline as an Express deal, 1st of all its a motel not a hotel, I was ready to leave when I got there, but it was later in the day and I need a place to stay so i figured I would check out the room. The room was not clean, had blood on the bed spread & the walls were dirty. After my husband got back from dinner we went to grab something from my car and it was covered in wood cockroaches! So we moved the cars away from the tree line because I figured the hotel would have sprayed to make them safe from the trees. I was wrong, there were cockroaches everywhere on the building in the stair wells. I contacted Priceline and they told me to speak to the "hotel" but then they contacted the "hotel" instead, to confirm the cockroaches. Soon the phone starts ringing and I explain we can't stay there we were leaving and he said okay and to come down to the front desk. In person he expressed sincerity and said he already spoke with the manager they would issue a refund of the 5 remaining nights. He know about the roaches and that they were coming from the tree area. He said I had to contact Priceline and they would contact him so they could arrange my refund. I called, they put the rep on hold to talk to a manager and told us we need to call back in 40 minutes. The Priceline guy didn't call me back at the appointed time, I gave it a few hours and called again, same thing, rep was put on hold to talk to the manager and we need to call back in an hour! I told Priceline they need to handle it because I already wasted enough of my time. Nothing resolved on Saturday or Sunday. Monday I call again same thing call back in an hour, so I did, they refunded me 4 of the 5 days,(reason the cleaning crew had gone for the day, which was a lie, check out is at 11, it was 11:30 by the time we were successfully out of the room because of all the phone calls) At this point I want a full refund, but I am really mad because they are taking an extra day they aren't entitled too. They have wasted hours of my time and are holding hundreds of my money, and now when the rep wants to speak to the manager she can't , they wont be in until Tuesday. On Tuesday Priceline tries to get a hold of the manager, I spoke to Priceline today and the manager told them I stayed for 2 nights, which is a lie and Priceline knows it because I booked somewhere...

(SECOND UPDATE. It’s nice you replied almost 4 months after my stay. DO NOT TRY TO MAKE MY EXPERIENCE INVALID because quite frankly that’s THE WORST hotel room I have ever stayed at. I paid for a clean room and DID NOT get it. Do not try to make my bad experience less than what it was. Try to have the rooms clean to not receive reviews like this. Read my review again and do the opposite. Thank you for allowing future readers to know what to look out for. That is why we have reviews to allow others interested to read and know what others have experienced. My reviews are honest not misleading. As a business you have to learn to not provide below average service.) Honestly the worst hotel I have ever been to. (UPDATE I GOT LICE. I WAS IN ROOM 218. I GOT LICE A WEEK BEFORE MY 21st. I WAS MORE FOCUSED ON BED BUGS THAT THE IDEA GETTING LICE SLIPPED MY MIND. )it was so dreadful being here. I had to put a towel on the shower floor to make sure I don’t make contact with it. It was so yellow/orange I was just making sure I could be there as little as possible. The toilets water was yellow and I’ve never seen that before. The water smelled very strong. Like a metallic smell. It was clear and I don’t know if that’s the water in this area but it was very unpleasant. The bed covers, sheets and pillows had stains so I only used 1 out of the 4 pillows that were given. I did not use the blankets, I fortunately brought one from home. The remote is old and had difficulty turning the tv on and off. Last thing, all towels seemed off so I used them as a foot placement on the floor. The floor was sticky and dirty and not cleaned. It reminded me of A Quiet Place walking on the towels I placed throughout the room. I drove past a bunch of hotels and do yourself a favor and don’t waste...
