This place REALLY doesnât even deserve the one star Iâm required to leave. Upon arrival the manager was horrible. I added a note to my reservation I would be traveling with my service dog. He tried to charge me for my service animal. I tried to show him the ID card, tags and a card with why sheâs trained for. âNO! I DONâT WANT TO SEE THAT. I NEED THE DOG.â So I had my son to get her from my pickup and since she was t wearing her service vest he said he wouldnât honor the request. He shoved a folder at me and said âread this.â To which I replied, âok, my animal is trained in the things sheâs trained for. She doesnât always wear a harness.â We got to our NON SMOKING room it smelled of stale cigarettes and pot. One of the beds didnât have a blanket, no towels and when we inquired âtheyâre still working on the rooms.â (Then why are you checking people in with an incomplete bed.) the bed that was together had a dirty blanket and gum on the headboard. After SIX HOURS we went to the office, for the third time, when we asked about bed clothes and towels⌠then we had to make the bed ourselves the desk person was insanely rude and hateful. Itâs quite obvious the room hadnât been properly cleaned, there was debris from shoes walking into the room, the tub was dirty- with rings and soap scum in the tub- hole in the ceiling above shower head, hair in the floor, something sticky had been spilled in the floor and was now a brown spot. The foot of the beds are 8-10 inches higher than the head. No hot water. When the housekeeping guy was spraying off the sidewalk all of the water close to our door, as well as rain blowing towards the door, the floor flooded. There is no pool, as advertised on all places this hotel is listed. We asked for the WiFi password and the front desk lady was rude and said âonly paying guests may have the password.â I had JUST told her I was in room number.â She followed by âwe have no one in that room.â Housekeeper came around this morning, even after taping âDo Not Disturbâ to our door he takes it upon himself not only did he NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGN, DID NOT KNOCK AND WALKED STRAIGHT INTO OUR ROOM. (We had already been out so the latch lock...
Read moreWe make an annual trip from Dallas to Maryville, TN with the Harley on a trailer. We've found the drive straight through is just too much, so we need to stop. We've gone the Northern route and stayed at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. But, it's an easier drive from the Southern route. The challenge is finding a place to stay that isn't too expensive, but is OK. Reading reviews eliminates most places because they are so bad (note: I do have different expectations for a Hotel than a Motel). Gadsen-Attalla didn't have much positive, but landed on the EconoLodge (a Choice property). They had bad reviews, BUT they said that they had renovated rooms. I called before booking and was told that we'd be put into a renovated room. That made me feel a better. We pull in to a rather empty motel. The lady to check in said that we had been assigned a room. At first looked like the room had been renovated. But, closer inspection: looked like our front door had been part of a police raid (big dent and the security bolt broken). The bathroom was dirty, the door wouldn't close (and the doorknob was broken). The remote for the TV barely worked. And the bed: they have metal bases that when you roll over sound like a bass drum was being beat (and the mattresses were really, really hard). Very disappointed that we were told that we were getting a renovated room -- if this was renovated, what are the rooms like that weren't. Only positive about this stay was the ease of parking the truck...

We stayed here when our vehicle started having trouble during a road trip and we needed to find a place close by that was pet-friendly. Of course, this happened late at night in an area without many choices.
This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at, and I've stayed at many. It's a pet-friendly hotel, which is good, but this room smelled horrible of wet dog and the floors felt sticky. I didn't dare walk in the room without shoes on.
There was a large wad of hair on the floor in the bathroom, in addition to the several roaches that we spotted scurrying around in the bathroom each time we turned the light on. I didn't even take a shower before checking out because it was so gross. There was a piece of baseboard missing from the front of the shower pan which was draped over the clothes hanging area.
We also found out IN THE MORNING that the door lock didn't actually latch when it was closed and "locked", so our door was actually unlocked for the entire night. Fortunately, we had the extra latch engaged, so at least someone couldn't have opened the door all the way, though they could have opened it several inches.
I have never been more eager for morning to come and to check out of a hotel.
When we checked out and mentioned the issues to the front desk clerk, she did not apologize, express concern, or offer any feedback whatsoever. She just stared at us and said nothing....
