Sue and I are doing a book and travel blog on visiting the national parks on a budget. So we look for safe, clean, convenient, reasonable cost rooms. This place hits all our buttons and we will stay here next trip through. Gallop is definitely worth a stop. Great shops, close to El Morro National Monument, Window Rock Az Capitol of the Navajo Nation, Chaco Canyon (Lord Help you!), Mal Pais NM, and the absolute not to be missed Monument Valley in Arizona.||Let's talk negatives. Yes it's across from the train switch yard. We lived 1 block from the tracks at one point, now live 6 blocks away up on the valley over fast tracks. To us it's comforting. I am sure that's a down side to people who need white noise. The hallway carpet is worn and stained. First of all it's a window enclosed walkway where most places would have an outside sidewalk. It has to be a pain to maintain, but it’s pretty nice to look out your room and see your car and have a secure entry area. People work construction and do four wheeling out here. Of course the carpet gets stains over time. So what? The rooms are dated architecture which also means they are large. The parking lot paving is kind of rough like my drive at home. Oh well, it's not a race track. The refrigerator has a smaller freezer. We freeze water bottles each night to keep our drink and food coolers cold and dry. So we love big freezers, but at least it has one. The breakfast is pretty limited cold fare. They had really nice cinnamon rolls from a bake shop. ||Pluses. It was $64 including tax and credit card fee. Dang! The room was large with two stuffed chairs, a table and a recliner. The furniture was in good shape. The room was clean and the carpet in good shape. We found none of the dust bunnies others reported when staying during a storm. Outlets were all used for lighting so bring a plug splitter or two for chargers. The bathroom was small but adequate. The location was convenient. The walk to the room was maybe 50'. The staff, ahh the staff. Other reviewers are right. They are just wonderful to work with. I call in at 8 for an 11 o'clock arrival. No problem. All he wanted was a name to hold the room. No cancelation policy. They chat with you, and offer you stuff.||In short this is not a 4 star hotel, but a 2 star motel that deserves it's 4 star reviews. It is exactly what a budget traveler...

One such location was the ROYAL HOLIDAY MOTEL, GallupNM-USA. It was one of my favorites because our room was located on the ground floor, on the South row facing North, which meant no climbing of stairs for me! |Checking in was easy; all major cards are accepted, and today’s modern internet speeds up the whole process! |The mattresses are nice and firm, reception is friendly and, since we had had a delicious meal (Oasis Mediterranean Restaurant), I was ready to get a necessary good night’s rest! |This wonderful hotel appears dated—as do most of the heritage hotels-motels along the “mother road”/historic Route 66/business I-40/route 318–and give all travellers that needed place to lay their heads for the night. |The next morning, whilst making my way to the lobby for brekkie, the owner/operator immediately empathized with me, for she herself had a similar limp. I felt great relief/confirmation as she repeatedly told me “NO SURGERY” and shared with me how she’d made powder from Tumeric root to ingest daily. I haven’t quite gotten to that level of creativity (yet), but understood exactly what she meant because of my own bulk consumption of the processed powder. Besides this nice nook being available to all guests, I could look across the noteworthy highway and see several tracks, with trains rolling East & West through the pass. If I listened, I was able to clearly distinguish the different vehicles operating: (motor)cars/(motor)trucks/or train cars being sorted into long trains, none of which I heard in the room, though the occasional siren or plane passing overhead might creep in. |I was quite pleased with the low cost of this hotel, and know you too will be captivated by the serenity which pervades it, especially on the ground floor. It certainly has my coveted “iWheel...
Read moreCouldn't make it to our reservation in Kingman, so quickly looked up hotels in Gallup. I had to have bottom floor due to being disabled so I saw that this place had 4 out of 5 stars and saw the price. I never heard of Royal Holidays before but if I had to go off with what the other reviewers said, I would give it a try. I called ahead of time and the woman was very energetic and friendly on the phone and took our reservation. When we got there, I was kind of glad to see that the place was fenced in, great for traveling like we were. When my sister was checking in they were really nice, even offered us complimentary waters and fresh watermelon! They took my disability in account and made sure to put me close to the door to make it easier for me (Which I greatly appreciate) the whole bottom floor is closed in with glass windows which is actually really nice. They gave me and my sister a smoking room I assume (because there were ash trays), But walking in the room and being in there for over an hour, I had no idea till the ash trays were pointed out. 10/10 for handling the smoke smell like professionals and keeps the rooms smelling fresh and clean. There were small details that you can see that tells you that they care about your stay, just small things you wouldn't think about that makes you feel very welcomed. I guess my only gripe which could be 100% on me for not looking, it was hard to find plug ins. I was to tired to look to deep. This place deserves more traffic then the other hotels around the area. Name brands doesn't always mean better and this place for sure proves it. Also.......
