Stayed here for 1 night in June. Make sure you bring appropriate sleeping bags - the temperature got as low as 30 right before sunrise. We were well equipped and felt warm and cozy. We’ve put up a tarp to make the 4th “wall”. The hanging system to keep our stuff away from bears was awesome! A short walk to Cliff tops for sunsets and a bit longer one to Myrtle Point for sunrises. There’s plenty of water on the way up and access to the water pump at the lodge nearby.

I love Mt LeConte, and I usually go each February to stay a night. Crowds are low and the shelter is the only way to go. Why pay so much to rent a cabin with 2 meals when you can get a cheap reservation at the shelter! Only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 because you can't build a fire anymore. A fire would be nice on these cold February nights, but had to settle for some hot chocolate. Love my national parks!

Beautiful place with reserved overnight accommodations. Alum Bluff Trail is about 5 miles to Le Conte. Go .7 miles further to Myrtle Point for some really nice views. Rainbow Falls Trail also leads to Le Conte but longer in hiking.

There are several hikes you can take to reach Mt LeConte Shelter or Lodge (Alum Cave, Boulevard, Bullhead Rainbow Falls, and Trillium Gap trails). I've made this hikes more times than I can remember, and have reached the summit via Alum Cave, and the Boulevard Trails. The iconic areas to see via the Alum Cave are Arch Rock, Inspiration Point, and Alum Cave Bluffs. Via the Boulevard trail make sure to take the side trail just past the junction with the Appalachian Trail right 0.4 miles to the top of cliffs at the Jumpoff, with striking views of Charlie’s Bunion and upper Greenbrier Cove. Once on Mt. LeConte, you must see the spectacular views from Myrtle Point and Cliff Top. And make sure to stop by the Lodge and...

Stayed at the shelter one night on a 3 day hike. The shelter was clean, well maintained with a privy and bear cables onsite. A great water source is located down the path at the Mt. LeConte Lodge area next to one of the big cabins. No view from the shelter and is right off the BLVD trail. The fireplace is bricked up with a strict "no fire" policy due to a previous fire. The shelter stayed quite warm on a 50 degree night. No issues with bugs while staying...
