We have a 42 foot fifth wheel. The roads are narrow, the corners are tight some with tree trunks inches off the rode at least one bearing a deep scar The dump station is the same. We are ,13 ft, 6 inches tall. Many trees were hitting the roof and AC units. We were unable to get onto our assigned site. Unable to weave thru the trees. They assigned us a new site that was still tough. We told them the size of our rig when we made the reservation. If you are near our size, proceed at you own risk. WE DO NOT advise it. We have camped in Michigan four months this summer. Like the staff members here most staff members have been friendly and helpfull but many have no concept of what a big rig requires. Look at the curbs when you go into the camp. Many are like this one, which appears to have been re worked recently. Lots are dark black from tire scuffing. To the staff, when you trim a tree to a height of 14 feet at the start of the season by the end of season it may be only 10 foot clearance. PLAN AHEAD
Go to the Little Sable light house for an informative tour while you are here. If you have a smaller rig it is...
Read moreCampsite 168 was very dirty when we arrived, empty beer cans, rusted metal rods, candy wrappers, a container of urine in a pop bottle, a squeaky dog toy, food pouches, etc. I can understand missing a few items, but this was clearly not even cleaned. Site was very wide, had plenty of space for parking, was well shaded throughout the day, stayed dry in the storm. It was close to the dump station, you could smell that when people were checking out for the day. Bathrooms were visually clean and stocked but smelled like urine. Showers were not clean and also smelled like urine, it needs a deep clean from floor to ceiling.
The playground was fun for kids, beach was mostly clean. Trash was left outside of the dumpster and rangers patrolling ignored it completely. We camp on a fairly regular basis and were not impressed with this park. There are many other parks in the area to camp at if you want to see the Dunes.
Note that this campground is split by a major road, there are sites on the lake and sites across the road from the lake, using a crosswalk, not a bridge to get to...
Read moreNot to bad a price for spending a week camping at the camp ground (209.00), which you have to reserve months in advance. The camp site spacing sucks, you barely have room to stretch out so it's extremely cramped. The sites are not properly marked out so you have to search for your lot number. There are very limited showers and only 1-2 are handicap accessable. The beach area has a ramp so if your handicap you can get down to the sand but the water is a good 25-30 feet from the side walk and not wheel chair or rollerator friendly. The camp ground is dog friendly which was nice, make sure to keep your fur baby leashed or on a tie out at all times. Fishing at silver lake is better by boat but not just off the dock or land. We had to ask a D N R officer where a good spot to fish was and he sent us to stoney lake, which it's just better to go to white lake light house pier. Noise and rude neighbors and being so close to one another makes it worse. Not meant for larger campers or motor homes, but the smaller ones fit in the...
