Googled the Inn before arrival, and cute lil place you can tell has some history too it. ||When you walk in prepare to be amazed!! ||The walls really do talk. Pictures of the history from the town, county, and state. The owner is a descendant of Frank Gooding who was the former U.S. Senator and Governor of Idaho, in which the town and county are named for. ||The owner will take you on a tour, and is a real joy to chat with. Dean Gooding, his wife Judy, and her sister Joy, have really decked this place out with some really cool time pieces. The rooms were all great, we chose a room on the first floor, with antiques and two AMAZING BEDS! I slept so good. The train tracks are right there, but did not hear a thing. The courtyard and common living room are beautifuly done with foilage, and a flat screen cable tv, relaxing furniture to enjoy. ||Met in the breakfast room in the morning, to amazing smells, and ate a very good breakfast. ||Once again the owners were great company.||You may arrive as a guest, but you certainly are treated and leave as family. ||We only got one night there, but are coming back to stay longer. This hotel was so beautiful and fun. ||This beat any Days Inn or usual hotel BY FAR! ||You must actually see this place to appreciate it. ||If only I had the money to own something like it, bit I don't think I could ever come as close as these folks have to making it as great as it is. ||Thank you Gooding fam. ||Hope to see you soon. ||||Mudd and Bobbi||Eastern...
Read moreRates are reasonable and include a lovely breakfast. Though restrooms are shared on the second floor, facilities are quite adequate to meet demand. Rooms are comfortable, with a window air conditioner and a heater available. Plenty of outlets in spite of the building's age. Staff is welcoming and friendly, and knowledgeable about the town's history.
What could be better: there are no desks anywhere in the common areas and our room only had a small vanity, which the one chair in the room doesn't fit in front of. There are tables with benches on the patio, but the wifi doesn't reach there. So if you need to do any significant computer work, this place may not work for you. (the other rooms might have desks, I don't know.)
There are some things that could use some updating or repair, like doors that stick or faucets that don't stay on if you let go. Minor inconveniences, but still.
Staff is friendly and talkative. One member openly shares political opinions that I don't agree with, though, and that's awkward.
Unfortunately the family that owns and operates the hotel is selling due to health issues and a desire to relocate, so once the sale goes through, this...
Read moreThe Gooding Hotel Bed and Breakfast is adorable and comfortable. The owners, Elizabeth and Robert, are kind and generous people. They went out of their way to accommodate our vegan diet with a HUGE vegan breakfast. There were a lot of personal touches to make our stay nicer. Elizabeth chatted with us over breakfast and shared a lot of history of the hotel and town. The hotel was built between 1890 and 1906 as a railroad hotel for railroad workers and folks moving out west to establish a homestead. We met Robert later who gave us excellent travel advice for some of our future travel destinations. We loved the feel of the Hotel and the beds were super comfortable. We appreciated that these new owners are working hard to keep the antique and historical feel of the place. I would recommend anyone traveling through Idaho to even go a little out of your way to stay there. Prices are very...
