After a long day of driving we happened to get behind an RV that was parked at the gate to Zan's Creekside Campground. When the gate opened to let the people in front of us in, we scooted in behind them. As it turned out, the campground had not opened yet for the season, and the people in front of us were actually old friends of the owner who was letting them stay there while they were in town.||||Basically, we inadvertently crashed the campground before the season had officially begun, but the owner was too polite to turn us away or even come right out and tell us that he wasn't open. ||||We could have left when he told us that the water was not yet turned on for the shower and bathoom, but we chose to stay because the campground was so pretty, and we had a beautiful site right by the creek.||||Before leaving us for the night, after loaning us a hose, the owner gave me his phone number in case we needed anything.||||This campground is small, very peaceful and relaxed, and seems to be a labor of love for the owner. I've been traveling in a travel trailer for 3 months this winter and this was one of the nicest experiences I have had in a private campground despite the fact that it was not even open for the season yett. This would not be a great place for a big rig, but if you are a tenter or have a small rig and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, this is a very...

Read moreWe went to Zans last weekend as two 55+ with a 6 year old grandson and a travel trailer camper. The people that own/work there are absolutely awesome! Most sites are for full time RVers. Our site was beautiful with constant shade on sunny days. My 6am walk through the campground was very peaceful and lots of nature to see! However, this campground is NOT kid friendly. With the creek right there and hundreds of people coming in all day long, on both sides of the creek, the peace quickly disappears. All of them drinking. It's all good until people start fighting. It's just not a safe environment for kids. Now, for the 1 shower room in the entire place. I realize keeping public places clean with 200 people running in and out all day is difficult. The door has a code, but it may as well not have one, because EVERYONE has it. We saw them clean it, so we know it gets cleaned, but I can't get past the pubes all over the walls and wads of hair on the floors and drains. It's a really nice place if you are a party person and enjoy drinking and partying. Just not very kid friendly as the evening approaches 🤣. We tried it. It's a beautiful spot with awesome campsites. If we loved to drink and didn't have to use the showers, then it...
