We had some trouble finding accommodations near Kansas City due to athletic events and graduations, so we were ecstatic to find Geandview Plaza Inn & Suites with a 4.1 approval rating per google. When we entered the room, we were welcomed by Captain Kirk and Mr. Spok (Star Trek 1964), the music adding a certain spooky element that one anticipates after 15 hours of driving. As we made our way into the room, we observed some sort of gelatinous substance on the light switch adjacent to the bathroom. We also noticed a dried, red also gelatinous substance on the back of the battered steal entry door. We hoped this substance was ketchup, but we feared it was more than likely from a bodily source.
Upon examination of the sheets, we found numerous stains from an unknown source ranging in color from light brown to greenish bilious yellow discharge. Needless to say, we slept on our own sleeping bags with towels over the pillows.
Moving on to insects: we’re unsure what happened to the spider that we found in the bed, but condolences to the lady bug by the sink. On approaching the bathroom we found a hole on the outside of the door 3 inches off the ground, leading us to suspect forced entry. We didn’t even bother with the shower.
Giant walk in closet sans clothes bar.
Highly recommend foot protection and use of antibacterial upon departure.
On your way out, take note of cigarette burns on couch and the lingering smell of stale cigarettes in your non smoking room.
A more positive outlook would be the increased ventilation due to gaps around the door and absence of a functioning lock. We remedied lack of protection by simply sliding the table with the fridge in front of the door and keep sidearm within reach throughout the night. We also recommend checking the windows before slumber as we found them to be unlocked and slightly...

My attempted stay at this hotel last night was extremely disappointing. We had to check out within one hour of checking in due to unacceptable conditions in the rooms. Our initial room smelled strongly of smoke, prompting us to request a change. The second room smelled better so we decided to stay. But after looking at the bathroom, we noticed a used hand towel hanging from the shower curtain rod by the wall. We also saw many small flying insects all over the tub and shower curtain, as well as stains on the shower curtain. After being in the room for several minutes we noticed the flying bugs were all over the rest of the room. There were so many, we covered up our drink that had a straw. When my daughter took a shower, the water smelled swampy and like a sewer. We were willing to put up with the flying bugs and sewer smelling water. However, when my daughter got into the bed she noticed some red blood stains in the right side corner by her feet that appeared to be consistent with bed bug activity. Due to these unsanitary & concerning conditions, we checked out immediately after only being in the room for less than an hour. We requested a refund upon departure. The person on duty acknowledged that there were flying bugs, but said that she doesn’t do anything with refunds. She spoke to someone on the phone and told us that this person would give us a refund. Unfortunately the hotel is currently refusing to process a refund for a stay we did not complete. I cannot recommend this hotel based on the poor cleanliness and the management's unwillingness to refund a customer who left immediately due to unsanitary conditions. Prospective guests should be aware of these issues...
Read moreThey are scams and rip people off! Do not book on any week with an event … so any. And definitely do not mention it while booking. I don’t know how they have such good reviews. We travel for work was looking for a place to stay. Unfortunately the Rv Park I tried booking for us Wed-Mon didn’t have any sites available for Saturday because of the game so we decided to shorten it to Wed-Sat so leaving Saturday morning but I made a mistake saying that because as soon as I said game she said oh came back and after awhile said she had rooms but because of the game they are gonna be $230 a night! This is a 2* Hotel when I plugged in the dates yesterday it said $50 for those dates. We aren’t even staying for the game days because the RV park didn’t have sites. (The hotel is for the other employee) so because I said game she decided to try to take advantage of us and triple almost a 4 times the price increase and it’s for week days leading up to it not even game day. People will still be at work Wednesday through Friday just like we’re trying to do and come down Saturday night for the game, so yeah, once again, I don’t understand why she expects people pay over $200 for week days. Because she was greedy she just missed out on $150 for the week days before the Saturday that everyone’s gonna be coming in because that’s when we were going to be leaving. Called the comfort in the lady was really nice and online quoted $108 and she quoted $101 and it’s In a better more convenient area with restaurants all around. There is lots of better...
