The room was disgusting. I've stayed in many roach motels but nothing like this. Stains on the comforter? Gross but it happens. Cigarette burns and splotches on the wall? Whatever, par for the course. Trash, debris, and bugs hiding under the furniture? I might mention it when checking out but not a big deal as long as I'm not waking up with bug bites.
This was hands down the most disgusting room I had ever been in. When we first walked in we killed three bugs: a spider, a roach and some sort of beetle. There were others that we weren't able to catch before they scuttled under the furniture. There was dust and grime on just about everything to the point that the furniture was sticky. Another beetle was crawling around on the TV stand. We reserved a non-smoking room, but the air blasting out of the AC unit smelled like old cigarettes. Guessing the non-smoking rule isn't enforced.
All of this I would have put up with if it weren't for the bed. We inspected the mattress and didn't see evidence of bedbugs, which was honestly surprising. But there were still mysterious brown specs along the seam that looked like roach droppings. The sheets were stained all over, from little spots that looked like blood stains to a massive yellow splotch that took up a third of the bed. Despite our better judgement, and given how exhausted we were, we decided to lay down anyway. And once we did we realized the mattress and pillows were WET. I thought I was imagining it at first but when I sat up the sheets left a sticky moisture on my back. Wife confirmed her side was damp as well. At this point we couldn't take it anymore, packed our bags up and headed out. We were in the room no more than 15 minutes.
There was no resolution. We were told nothing could be done. Woman at front desk was apologetic but clearly situation was out of her control. We were told we could not receive a refund and all other hotels were booked. It was 3am when we checked in and had no choice but to sleep at a rest stop.
My biggest regret is that we didn't take pictures. Didn't think of it in our deliriously...
Read moreBottom line: Stay here for a cheap and clean overnight while travelling or a place to sleep while you explore the area. Don't stay here if you want a fancy room or plan to spend a lot of time in it. Best point: the staff are absolutely outstanding!!! (Details below)
Struggled to rate this one, and settled on 4 stars. Please read further for details:
Physical Characteristics: I only saw my one room with nice new flooring, but I believe everything else in it was new around 1980! The counters had a lot of scratches and basic wear and tear you'd expect from years of use, some grout in the tile was damaged, and the corners of some wallpaper were peeling in the bathroom. That said, it was very clean. No mold, no bugs, no mildew, no dirt. Not a spa, but definitely a great place to stay over without fear of bugs or an icky room.
Staff: I can't overemphasize, OUTSTANDING!!! We arrived late at night while travelling, and the night manager offered to open up the breakfast fridge so I could get some milk and yogurt for my toddler (we already had some in our cooler but the thought was amazing!) She was extremely friendly, and immediately accommodated our request for some extra pillows and sheets for our little man to sleep with. The actual owner works the counter during the day. Both he and the night manager are eager to take care of customers. This is the kind of place where employees get to work early and stay late so they can sit around, drink coffee, and chat with each other. Really made us feel more like guests in a community than paying customers.
Food!: Finally, the food. Breakfast was average, with cereal, milk, coffee, pastry. The big win is they have a fresh self-serve waffle maker! Definitely nice to be able to have something hot to eat for the very low price of the room.
Recap:. Great staff, great price, rooms are tired, but very clean. I would...
Read moreMy intended stay at the Travelodge was regrettably cut short due to the deplorable conditions I encountered. Upon arrival, I was met with a room that left much to be desired. The sink was full of grime and dust, and to my dismay, I spotted a roach in the vicinity. This was not the welcoming experience I had expected.
Hoping for an improvement, I requested a room change. However, the second room proved to be equally unsatisfactory. Stained sheets, hair in the bed, and an overall lack of cleanliness were apparent. The bathroom also showed signs of neglect, with grime and filth present. I even noticed outdated wiring leading to a new light fixture, which raised safety concerns.
Despite my best intentions to stay, I ultimately had to make the difficult decision to leave the establishment. It was clear that the conditions were unsuitable for a comfortable stay, and the overall experience did not meet even the most basic expectations.
The only redeeming aspect of my visit was the commendable performance of the front desk staff. The lady working there was professional and empathetic, and it was evident that she cared about guest satisfaction. If she were in a managerial position, I believe this establishment could undergo a significant transformation for the better.
In summary, my experience at this Travelodge was far from satisfactory, and I was unable to complete my stay due to the subpar conditions. The conditions I encountered resembled more of a barn than a reputable lodging establishment. I strongly urge Wyndham, the parent company, to consider removing their name from this location until these issues are resolved. Cleanliness and maintenance should always be a priority, regardless of the hotel's star rating. My experience serves as a stark reminder of the need for better management and higher standards at this...
