The Pescadero Creek inn is in a perfect setting. Its proximity to Pescadero allowed us to leave the car and enjoy the stroll to town. The grounds around the Inn are lovely, with chairs to enjoy the outside and a fireplace for the chilly evenings. We stayed in the cottage separate from the main house which allowed for privacy. All of these pluses and then the annoyances....When we arrived, we waited for 15 minutes, not realizing that we needed to call to make contact with the innkeeper. No note on the door to guide us. We knew the Inn didn't serve breakfast, so we brought the necessary items for a 3 night stay. However, there was no refrigerator in the room nor a community refrigerator. The innkeeper was never around to ask questions. The coffee was good, but the juice selection was disappointing. OJ was available, but what I thought was grapefruit juice turned out to be lemonade, a disappointing offering at breakfast. The mattress was covered in plastic sheeting--a particular pet peeve--I realize the need to protect the mattress, but at the rate this Inn charged per night, I expected a better quality. We walked to and from our car passing bedsheets hanging on the line. The exact same sheets hung on the line for 3 days and when we left, I noticed our sheets had bird droppings on them. And finally, the cottage has a very small clawfoot tub. Fortunately, my husband and I aren't big people and fairly flexible, but it isn't designed for someone who may have movement issues. There isn't a curtain, so when rinsing using the handheld shower in the cramped tub, we had to be careful that the spray doesn't coat the room. The setting is lovely, but for the price, we felt the service could be greatly improved. Unfortunately, there aren't many choices...
Read moreWe stayed overnight Friday in the Spring Room with separate shower/tub & single sink. Bathroom is good-sized; flush is weak but adequate; nice large fluffy towels; hair dryer; shower gel pack not enough for two persons. Bedroom is quite cozy; small chairs very uncomfortable; no TV; free wifi; queen bed with warm comforter; attractive decor; water pitcher. This place is not a B&B and does not serve breakfast. At 7:30am there is complimentary hot water, quality teabags, fair coffee; granola bars; mandarins oranges; assorted Odwalla orange & Monster juice & fireplace in the central common room. Owners Jen and Peggy are friendly and very laid back, and were not even around for checkout. Another guest informed us that they had left for the day. The road into town from Hwy 1 Pescadero Creek Rd, was flooded by Butano Creek. We cautiously drove around the Street Closed sign in our SUV. The Inn is within easy walking distance of the Duarte's Tavern, Arcangeli Grocery Store & Bakery, and Harley Farms (goat), and about 20 minutes by car north of Año Nuevo State Park Visitors Center. Overall our stay was a...
Read moreThis was an extremely disappointing experience. Most reviews have been high, but it should have been a red flag that there have not been any reviews in months.
We stayed at the Garden Cottage. Being in a separate unit was nice, but that's where the positives end. Things are old and falling apart. There was dirt on the table. The glass that accompanied the morning juice was dirty itself with a layer of dark stuff on the bottom (which I only discovered after I had already poured juice into it and almost drank it, yuck). There is no comfortable place to sit with a desk/table.
The owners never met us. The welcome letter gives Covid as a reason for no contact, but it's Winter 2024 and there is no reason for this anymore (it's perfectly fine for people to wear masks if there are health concerns). There was zero feeling of hospitality.
The single thing going for this place is its location as it's very close to town and also next to a nice little creek.
I would never stay here again and advise others against doing so until the owners take cleanliness, functionality, and hospitality...
