We stayed in the rustic Cabin - Wegwaas, but i didn't actually end up staying we left. I knew it was going to be rustic so i was ok with no electricity, no water, only an outhouse which we planned to just drive over to the modern restrooms which we did - but the cabin was not clean on the inside - they wiped down the table and counter and cleaned the center of the floor, but every single corner had years of built up webs and dead bugs, every window sill caked in bugs and dirt, i thought, for 65 bucks a night i at least thought it would be very clean like all the other state park cabins we rent. the place itself looks gorgeous and big, but please vacuum under the beds and the corners and get rid of the webs and piles of dead bugs. I have a feeling its never been done. If they can't drag a vacuum in there, then use the broom! I did at first for a bit, i used the broom to get webs off the brick walls but i wasn't going to sweep all that up while we were going to sleep in there same night. So around midnight we decided to drive home and sleep.! Other than this cabin though - this park is absolutely gorgeous and huge with beautiful mature forest everywhere - and the sandy beach is shallow and perfect for kids. I am sure if i stayed at the modern campground with my tent i would...

We have been coming to Brighton for years and will probably continue to come back. I will say that this last time (6/21- 6/23) was a little disappointing. The beach area has always been my favorite but since they added the inflatable junk in the water, the beach area is trashed. There were old deflated water rafts taking up the best part of the beach. The trailer where you pay (a ridiculous amount) for the inflatable rafts is a mess. There is junk and trash scattered all around it and it just looks cheap. It takes away from the natural beauty of the park. The inflatables are just too much. The park itself is clean but the bathrooms could use a little attention. There was a wad of used toilet paper on the ground next to the toilet the entire time we were there. You'd think it would have been picked up when someone cleaned. I'm guessing it was never cleaned that weekend. Gross. We usually use the rustic sites but decided since we needed electric -we stayed on the other side. The rustic sites are great but the vaulted toilets are HORRIBLE. The worst I've ever been in. All in all this is a great place to stay. I just wish they'd get rid of the overpriced inflatable rafts and make those people clean up the beach and around...

Pros: -Large park with a lot of sites -Low cost wood bundles as well as ice and fire starters -Weekend activities for kids and families Vending machine for pop, snacks and ice cream trails to walk to get to fishing pier and beach showers were clean and hot water a plenty picnic tables are nice and sturdy -provided fire pit at each site

Cons: not all site have access to shade so it can be very hot if you don’t have any shade BATHROOMS they are nasty. Firstly they are HOT even when it’s nicer outside; the doors can’t be propped open for ventilation. It’s smells, sand all over the floor, dirty seats with no liners, empty toilet paper, spider webs everywhere. It’s not enough to just restock the bathrooms they need to be cleaned DAILY. These bathrooms are not large it would require only about 1 hour to clean both men and females. There really aren’t enough bathrooms either for this size of a campground, only 3 stalls in the women’s bathroom.

Because only one bathroom and shower building some of the sites are very far from them so...

There are lots of great things about this campground. The shower house was probably the best I've seen in a state or county park. The lake looked perfect for kayaking. There was plenty of firewood and ice available from the check-in office that was open late. The fire rings were good. There were some programs for kids. Clearly everyone in the campground was there to have a good time so no one was upset by music at a reasonable volume even late. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was how close the sites are to one another.

I visited this campground for the dump station. I called the number on Google. I was sent through a loop of automated recording, saying the camp may be closed for improvements. The lady that I finally got to talk to gave me a different number to call for the campground. 8102296566. Campground is definitely open and looked to be very nice. Large tree stump turned into a free library. What an amazing piece of art. Lots of pokemon stops in the campground also. I hope to stay and check out the rest of the campground sometime!

Nice campground overall but not our favorite. The sites are WIDE open so you feel like you're camping with your neighbors. We set up our stuff to kind of block people a bit for more privacy but we were by the bathroom and it was VERY busy area. Lots of kids if you have them even though their playground is just so so. They do allow alcohol which is fine but makes for a little bit noisier bedtime. It wasn't terrible but definitely wasnt quiet. We did a fun craft putting tiles on the wall. The hosts were super friendly.
