Usually what you see is what you get but not here. Opened the lobby door and found a clean, well maintained and pet free hotel. MRS. Mena & her husband has done an excellent job of managing and maintaining this property. I had not been willing to stay here based solely on the reviews and God awful color of the building. Today I was to tired to go the 15 miles into Baxley. so since 3 other drivers were heading over here I said why not see for myself. Mrs. Mena's husband promised me a clean remodeled room and they delivered with patients, kindness and genuine hospitality (I will have the same room everytime I come back per Mrs. Mena) those things really matter. I do have severe allergies and this is a pet free non smoking hotel, that's worth 3 stars alone. The establishment has had quite a bit of remodeling and upgrades done. Carpet is new and fresh, beds are comfortable and clean (I lifted the sheets and checked mattress in room 109 it was new). Fridge/microwave was clean and working. Bathroom was clean and fresh paint in whole hotel. I have a very bright day maker flashlight/blue light, I was able to find no bugs at all(I SEARCHED). I will continue to rest and relax here when in hazelhurst GA. For a 3 star hotel they have exceeded that rating. My sincere apologies for judging a book by the cover and denying myself a peaceful and serene night's...
Read moreI'm a big review reader, so I have to admit I was slightly skeptical about this hotel but once again I find that you can't always believe what you read. Heather, the manager, was professional but even beyond that, she was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Because they had a large party coming in, room choices were limited she was willing to work with us, upgraded us to a suite and told us to call if there were ANY issues with room cleanliness or excessive noise. I am a stickler for cleanliness and I can honestly say that the room, the bed(yes, I pulled back the covers and sheets to look) and the bathroom were very clean. When we entered the room, it smelled fresh and clean.||The breakfast was ok but then again it's not a FULL service breakfast bar and we did arrive late to eat.||We will definitely come back if we are in the area and are in need of a place to stay! ||Again, Heather was extremely friendly and helpful. Heather was friendly and helpful, a definite asset to this company! We appreciate the excellent customer service and of course, as always, the cleanliness of the room and the...
Read moreFor the past 80 years we've had a family reunion in Hazlehurst, GA. We (as a family) book several rooms for a 2 night stay. With over 200 in attendance, we in fact fill up most of the hotels in this little town. Our particular experience concerns their pricing. The pricing structure is unbelievable! The 2nd of two floors is priced higher, not for the view (parking lot or green pool) but for the simple fact that you don't have to listen to people walking above you. Number and type of beds are different prices as well. They were suppose to give all attendees a special rate but come to find out I could book the same room on Expedia the next week for less. The rest is simple: there is a STRONG smell of curry throughout the entire building, the continental breakfast is a joke, loud a/c units, the exhaust fan cover in our room was hanging down about 4 inches by a wire, many of the tv stations are frozen and repeat every half second.......... I could go on but I won't. If this is your last option, just drive 17 miles to Baxley and stay there!! That's what were...
