We tent camped here and its beautiful! Because this facility caters to RVs, and we exclusively tent camped, heres a few things to help adjust your expectations so you can arrive as fully prepared as you wish- the tent "sites" are simply a narrow stretch of comfortable mulch in the farthest back corner by the dumpsters (it was hot in July and no smell at all- but very convenient for our trash disposal), a large utility shed (whos bright security lights t illuminate the perimeter of the building stay on all night-bur didn't affect our sleep) with no clearly defined space that is your spot. You will have no privacy from the terrain, and also NO shade until their beautiful trees grow in but even that will be limited. However it's going to be gorgeous in the fall when the leaves change! So bring your own shade if needed. 6 tents actually pitched at once will be quite close to each other depending on size- and unless you are at the wider end of the mulch strip- very little room to spread out your stuff. It seems most tents here when we camped were used for auxiliary sleeping from an RV site and we rarely saw anyone except late at night. Despite every RV stall having a picnic table the 6 site tent area only has 2. If its a busy travel day (Like swiss days, holiday ect) consider packing your own if its important to have. In all fairness we didn't ask for an extra table- this place is so well stocked and attentive they might have extras to deliver. The large grass area that the tent strip lines is also a resort dog run. However every RV site has grass so we didn't observe anyone really using it. There are no fire rings to cook on, but an excellent large fire pit seating area with build in benches. Its perfect for smores at night- again if you were alone using it to cook it would work however its a camp wide fire pit so don't plan your meals around accessing it exclusively. The fire pit is sunken into a grassy bowl then completey covered in smooth landscape rocks-so if you have mobility issues with inclines or uneven surfaces you may not be able to access it. The rest of the RV park is very flat, sidewalks and wide doors. We appreciated the beauty of the fire circle design and at night it gives you lots of grass to sit on while enjoying the view of the firepit. We saw a few decorative gas firepits with chairs that would work better for mobility access but again-not for cooking. There are also 2 charcoal grills to use for 6 tent sites on the sloped grassy area lower than the tent mulch site- we already had our own stove with us and just used that. The closest bathrooms to the tent site is designated for 21 and older to use. If you have kids or teens you must walk from the farthest back corner to the very front center to find a restroom. Because most RVs use their own bathrooms, and tents MUST use a bathroom this was my only real issue with placement in the park. Its a few minutes walk, and centered in the common amenities area which are very busy during the day despite the ample volume of clean, spacious and beautiful bathrooms to use. Consider bringing a portable training potty for small kids for at night or emergencies. There is only one water spicket for all 6 tent sites and its cool, clean, drinkable water which was very appreciated. If you pitch your tent infront of it, or park right infront of it, you just have be patient with the constant foot traffic. The large grass firepit/dog run park was perfect for nightgames, frisbee and theres a sand volleyball court right there. We used a beach ball to avoid having our kiddos accidentally hitting the RVs who are quite close but they have volleyballs available to use. Its a decent walk to most resort amenities but that also makes your tent sites nice and quiet. It was the PERFECT SPOT to come down from rustic camping in the mountains, shower, swim, wash clothes, go quickly to the store, clean out the car ect to extend our camping trip comfortably another few days. The staff ( and other guests even) were great! It has a luxury feel everywhere and the location...
Read moreWhile we were visiting the park we noticed some pretty scary political signs displayed in some campsites. I went to the office to enquire about their policy, since many private campgrounds don't allow political signs for the comfort of all guests. Staff quoted the 2nd amendment and said this was more important within the campground than everyone feeling welcome and safe. They continued on to say that they supported the hostile signs which promoted 'taking america back'. They said that the last election was stolen and so these signs were very valid and promoted taking the country by force if necessary (i.e. anti-democracy). They also didn't feel like the signs were threatening (i.e. promoting overthrowing an election by force) or that the party they represented was threatening to immigrants or people of colour (which our family consists of). I didn't want to get into arguing either issue, but i was shocked that staff supported these views and was comfortable expressing it to guests. I also was surprised that they valued the 2nd amendment, as it applies to campground signs, over the comfort and safety of guests. We were told we should leave and not come back.
Update: *The campground has since replied below and the staff deny the conversation as I describe it above. I described it accurately so it's just up to who you believe. I'm writing as honest a review as I can to help other RVers book what is comfortable for them. We met lot's of lovely guests at the resort. ** I quote the 2nd amendment above and this should be the 1st amendment - my apologies! *I find it curious that when we were in the conversation with staff over the hostile flags, that the 1st amendment was considered sacrosanct. But in the RV Park's reply below, they state that when they feel that flags are inappropriate, they will counter the 1st amendment and ask for flags to be removed. So flag displays are at the RV Park's discretion after all, and the signs that we saw were therefore deemed appropriate (and defended personally by the staffer we spoke to). I did not want to have to debate at the time or now why the specific flags are scary. And, why specific political flags are now sadly intimidating to people of colour due to the values those parties now represent. The campers and staff outside our group are all from the dominant demographic who are unaffected by racism, and so I understand that it is hard to understand. I would hope that staff and management would have been keen to learn from the perspective of a minority group, instead of just deny first the reality of Racial connotations from some parties and then that the conversation even happened. All we asked was that could political flags be taken down from all sides so that everyone could enjoy a vacation in a neutral space. I guess this was too...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful! The facility is so nice. Only about a mile to Walmart. Gated front entry that they give you a pass code to get in. Ours did not work which we found out after we ran to Walmart and the front office was closed, but a couple of the guys were going around closing up on a golf cart and let my son know to call them if we left again and they would come right over and let us in.
Their is a clubhouse of sorts on the back side of the office with things to do in there, although we did not get a chance to check it out.
I SUPER enjoyed that we were the ONLY 2 tents there that night so we grilled steak and salmon and then took our plates up to the pool and ate dinner, enjoyed the very large really well working Jacuzzi under the starry night. AHHHHH it was the best!
The bathrooms looked like something you'd have in a Hilton hotel room and there were about 8-12? Plenty. Open 24 hours.
The park was full of amazing and impressive rigs. Every spot set up nicely. Alot of full timers were there I presumed. Everyone was friendly , mannerly, respectful and no noise after hours. In the back there was an area you could go through another gate that was for adults only without kids.
By the tent area was a large grass area with a fire pit and cut firewood to use free of charge. About the only complaint I think we had was that there was all this beautiful grass and the tent spots were on chunky bark. Didn't make sense. If you were only sleeping on a thin blanket you will def feel it.
We had air mattresses and then layed tarps in front of our tent doorways. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T SET UP IN THE GRASS because the sprinklers come on and will get you and your stuff wet after dark.
