Let me just preface this by saying that I purchased a used vehicle, so I was assuming there would be some issues but not this bad, especially from a dealer with such good reviews…
I purchased a used 2006 chevy from these guys a few days ago. I live in Nevada, and they were kind enough to hold the vehicle for me for a day after a small deposit. I drove up early the next morning and checked out the truck.
The truck had a pretty tall lift on it, which I was not a huge fan of so I asked the dealer how difficult it would be to remove the lift and he assured me that it would be very easy. The truck drove OK with slight shaking, but I figured after I lowered it and got an alignment done it would be as good as new.
When I got the truck back home, I took it to my mechanic and he told me that it would be very expensive to get the truck lowered because the previous owner had modified the frame. After I paid for an alignment and a tire balance (which the dealer should have done before I bought it), the truck is still shaking and will likely need some expensive front end work to get it back to smooth driving.
On top of that, when I am driving 80 mph down the freeway the speedometer is off by nearly 10 mph, which means the odometer is going to read lower than what the actual miles are. Assuming the previous owner put the lift and larger 35” tires on it soon after he bought it new, The odometer on the truck (which reads 126K miles), it’s probably closer to 150K miles.
All in all, a lot of issues that I feel like a good dealer should have fixed. I would expect these issues when buying from a private party, but not from a reputable dealer like this one. The only bright side is the trucks engine seems to be running great. Don’t be dumb like me and do your homework before you...
Read moreAfter one of the worst experiences at a different dealership, I called Mountainland about a used car I saw listed on CarGurus. I spoke with Shane who answered all my questions for me and then received a call from Hank to set up a time to check out the car. When I pulled into the lot the next morning, the car I wanted to look at was ready and waiting front and center by the doors. I jumped out to go see it and as I peeked in the windows, Hank came out and said “you must be Alicia!” It was such a warm welcome. He handed me the keys and said to take all the time I needed to check it out and test drive the car. It was SO clean and I fell in love with it immediately. When we came back, we were offered some cold drinks and directed to Austin, the finance guy. He explained everything in easy to understand ways while Hank took the car for a wash and got it all ready. We were in and out of the dealership in about an hour and a half. I was almost in tears when we left because of how smooth and nonstressful the process had been, especially in comparison to the terrible experience I’d had the night before. I actually hugged Hank when we left, I was so happy. I can’t recommend them enough. I’m still loving my car, the interest rate, and have the best peace of mind with the warranty...
Read moreThey do seem to help you along, throughout you purchase, but during my boat buying experience, I feel that I got shafted out of $900. When I originally went to look at the boat, I was told that it came with a cover. However, after I went home and thought about buying the boat, I decided to get back in touch with them to haggle the price. After the paperwork was said and done, I asked about the cover, at which point, I was then told that it did not come with a cover, but they would see what they could do about ordering one. When I mentioned that they originally told me that it came with the cover, they said that it didn’t, and they did not have one in stock. Mysteriously, they contacted me the next day and said that they had found one in the back, but it was going to cost $900... and that was a discounted rate. I give in and pay the $900 because I want to protect my new boat. I go to pick it up, and it just happens to match the interior of my boat (there were no other boats on the lot of that color).
Overall, I feel that it was a way to recoup some money back from the price haggling that was done. The whole thing seemed fishy, all the way up to the point that the receipt doesn’t show exactly what the $900 was for, just a generic...
