We are travelling across the USA and were looking for a place to stay here in Helena. Based on the available options, we booked the Edwardian Inn because of the excellent reviews despite the hefty price tag for the area. The hotel is full of character and charm and we may have just caught the owners on a bad day, but the service was anything but great. While we did arrive after our stated arrival time, it was well within the published check-in window. We had to ring the bell twice and send an email, plus wander around before the door was finally opened. France gave us a room key, took our breakfast order and helped us find one of the few restaurants in town that is open on a Sunday evening. I had to remind her that we weren’t locals and have her show us on the map where the restaurant was in relation to the hotel. The room was comfortable enough and spacious, although the heating unit was extremely noisy and woke me up every time it cycled on. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We requested a 7:30 am breakfast and made our way down to the dining room. I arrived and no one greeted me. My husband arrived a few minutes later and still no one acknowledged our presence. We helped ourselves to coffee and juice, although it was not obviously a self serve station. About 7:40, Robert (I presume, because he didn’t introduce himself or even say good morning), came out with our breakfasts and placed them on the table. I mentioned that the wifi was not working this morning, and he said that he had noticed that himself. He tried to reboot the modem/router but came back to clear the dishes and said he was going to have to call the ISP as the reboot did not work. Without wifi we had no tv in the morning (it did work in the evening). He did offer to let us use his cellular data, which was appreciated. Breakfast was tasty, although the butter for the toast was as cold as the common areas. We like to support small, independent businesses as much as possible, but we paid more for this room in town with not much going on than we have any other property in far nicer towns. I would suggest that outside of high season, the rates might be dropped - I am sure other travellers passing through might consider this lovely property if the rates were a bit cheaper. There was only 1 other room occupied while we were there. We did not see the other guests at breakfast, but there were 4 time slots available so they may have eaten later. Our customer service experience did not reflect the southern hospitality we have received on our...
Read moreNot well run. I stayed in Room 8, which is upstairs, and you have to go outside on the second floor across a deck to get to the room. There are no stairs going to the ground. Upon leaving for work the next morning, the door from the deck back into the main house was locked from the inside....I was locked out of the house and trapped on the deck or in my room. I knocked on the locked door...nothing. I called the Edwardian Inn....no answer, so I left a detailed message. No response or call back for a few minutes. I tried my room key on the locked door....did not fit or unlock. I called the Edwardian Inn again, and pressed 2 for "if you are a current guest and have an emergency, press 2"....still no answer. I looked for a way to climb down from the deck, there was none. I could however climb over the deck rails onto the roof of the 1st floor above the dining room, so that I could bang on the roof and hopefully get someone's attention. Which I did. Finally, the owner came up and unlocked the door. However, he was NOT apologetic for me being locked and trapped. In fact, the opposite, he said he "didn't appreciate" me banging on the roof, as if it was my fault he did not answer his phone, nor the emergency number, nor did he have the room 8 key keyed to fit both doors, nor did he have a note on the locked door saying "please do no lock this door". |He has a lot to learn about the hospitality industry and customer service. The phone has never been answered when I called to make the reservation, to find out about the check-in process, or any other time. Always goes to voicemail.|Otherwise, the room was OK. AC worked (it is July), parking was good. I did not get to try the breakfast...had to leave for work at 7:00 a.m. You should not stay in room 8 until they get the "lock out"...

The Edwardian Inn was my first B&B experience and Robert did not disappoint as a host! Kind and accommodating, he provides all the comforts of home. A beautifully historic Inn, the Edwardian is scenic, comfortable, and gives you just the retreat you need. From Hulu tv to a huge porch, coffee in the lobby, and an incredible breakfast, this place is a must go for a getaway experience.
What Helena West Helena lacks in township, is more than made up for in this Inn and in it’s neighbor, the Delta Dirt Distillery -within walking distance. If you’re a Memphian looking to get away for a day or two and do some front porch reading and a little drinking, this is the place for you. If you’re an investor and business owner, go check out cherry street and grab some property because this town needs some more restaurants, a brewery, and...
