We come to Hilton head often. We almost exclusively stay at Marriott. This is our first day at the Marriott Monarch.

We are not disappointed. There's so many activities to do. No matter what age kid you have. I have two teens right now and they loved all the activities. Giant, chess games, billiards, foosball, air hockey. And let's not forget the pool. Cornhole shuffleboard, fire pits and of course it's on the beach. And a really large hot tub with a waterfall.

Bike rentals are $25 a day. I think if you do multiples days you get a discount. We drove here and brought our bikes, but two of our bikes had some issues so we decided to rent. Plenty of parking for bikes that make sure you lock them up. Looks like everyone does. They have bikes of all different kinds, little kids, bikes, bikes, with wagons on the back, etc.

Ride your bags down to Harbor town or salty dog it's quite fun. You can ride on the beach or on the trails. The trails are wonderful because they are pretty much completely flat and shaded.

They even had a paint and sip activity for 20 and under and they served mock Alice and they painted. They had other activities, but that's the only one that my teens participated in.

There was live music the first night we were there and he was really good. We were his only audience.

We stayed in a two bedroom with the kitchen so that we could cook meals. The bathrooms were good. The bedrooms were good size plenty of room. Six people could sleep in there very easily. There is a washer and dryer.

More than enough, cooking equipment, utensils, and plates and cups. The amenities that they were coffee and tea with cream and sugar and washing up chemicals for the dishwasher.

No need to bring shampoo and conditioner and body soap. It's already in the shower.

We thought it was really quiet, we were on the fifth floor.

There is a fitness center here as well as a small convenience store with ridiculous prices, but it is what it is.

There are cubbies all around outside for you to put your beach chairs and beach toys if you want so you don't have to drag them to your room. They supply you with green and white towel (2 per person). There was a safe in one of the closets and a long, full length mirror in one of the closets with just a couple of hangers, it probably could use more hangers. There were way more closets and dressers than we actually needed. It seems there's way more storage here than you would need unless you were living here full-time... count me in! if you're on the fence about where to say, I definitely recommend this place. This end of the island is not as busy so the beach is...

Just arrived home from our recent stay at Monarch at Sea Pines. Our families list of disappointment would be too long to list here but I'll share our last day there. We were awoken at 6:00 by slamming cabinet doors from the kitchen unit next to ours. The head board of the master bedroom shares a wall with the kitchen of the neighboring unit. When that was done, the thundering from above began. Yes, they had young ones. To say the walls are thin is an understatement. After breakfast and a short walk on the beach we headed to the pool. We were enjoying a conversation with some owners while two, yes two not one, power washers were started up at the pool. It was 12:00 and the pool was packed. Apparently that is the optimal time to scrub the grill that over looks the pool, 5 feet away to be exact. After 30 minutes and a ton of complaints from everyone at the pool I asked one of the gentlemen if they could wash later. Response...just doing what I was told. OK, so I walked over to the lobby to kindly ask if this effort could stop. I was told no manager was on site so the receptionist would call the facilities manager. No change for the next hour. I returned to the lobby at 1:30 and again asked if they could stop. At this point my wife had a migraine and went back to the room. Again, no change. I again returned to the lobby and asked for the manager and general managers contact info. It was 2:30 at this point. I called to have a basic service discussion with these folks with no luck. I left messages for Birgit Koellner-Gozlan, the general manager, and of course have not heard back. I don't even know when they finished because the rest of the family was tired of the sound and headed to the room as well. The aloof staff that lacked any understanding they are part of the service industry was amazing to us. The best part of the power washing....its a Saturday to Saturday time frame. Why not use your intellect and figure out that if check out is 11:00 and check in is 4:00, that gives you five hours to power wash between weeks? Don't affect your customers final day, Friday! I don't feel like the staff there could understand that concept. Unbelievably disappointed. For the cost, the service, staff and management are sub...

How do I love Marriott's Monarch? Let me count the ways. 1)Enough to trade our Williamsburg, VA timeshare here at least 3 times 2)Peaceful beachfront location 2 miles south of Coligny Plaza for easy shopping, restaurants, and grocery, the Piggly Wiggly, gotta love that store with good seafood, produce, and beachy odds and ends you left at home. 3)Location inside Sea Pines so you only pay that entrance fee of $6 once (and if you eat at a Sea Pines restaurant, it's refunded to you that first night) & it is easy to go to South Beach, Harbor Town, or Sea Pines Shops. 4) Aqua fit everyday in a heated lap pool in November! Excellent instructor. 5) Smores kits for the fire pit at 7 pm nightly in November 6) Daily socials & activities on site if you're so inclined: You can be totally alone and quiet in your villa or in the midst of group activities – your choice. 7) Less than an hour to drive to Savannah for another scene altogether, not even a full day trip if you want to make it a quick trip 8) Nightly 8 pm on demand recent movies in your room, no extra charge 9) CLEAN; we're here 6 weeks after Matthew, an ugly visitor, who ripped up a lot of trees. The entire island has a lot of debris piles, but the resort and island is still neat and well maintained. One of the lagoons was drained this week, and workers were taking out load after load of leaves, pine needles, small branches, etc., but they were also catching the koi and keeping them in one section of water while they worked. 10) Love this beach. Love the sunrises, and I'm not a morning person. 11) Love the unique identity of the area 12) Love the farmers market at Sea Pines Shop on Tuesday morning. For $26, we bought salmon, got a terrific recipe for it, veggies and a soup starter from the Spanish Wells Seafood tent, and had a superb dinner, breakfast (veggies with eggs), and soup another day. 13) Love the discounts given to Marriott guests by local businesses 14) Helpful staff, bikes on site, just right for us all...

Where do I even begin? Got into town a night early as usual and normally spend the first night at the Harbour Point Marriot (stay in Palmetto Dunes for the week). They had no availability so I shelled out extra cash for a “beach view” at Monarch at Sea Pines and was treated to a front-row seat of the industrial-grade beach washing station—and the bonus entertainment of a lady having a heart-to-heart with a palm tree. Truly cinematic. Parking was fun. I was cheerfully instructed to park on the opposite side of the complex from my unit—and then promptly slapped with a warning for daring to obey. Logic! If you like laundry that remains stubbornly damp because the dryer refuses to work, you’re in luck. And don’t forget the soothing midnight soundtrack: a relentless ticking electrical box that really brings “ambiance” to the phrase “sweet dreams.” We were told that someone would call my wife about our complaints the following Monday (she has had a Marriot card for years) since it was the weekend. Its been 2 months and still waiting for that call. Weve since cancelled that card and dont intend on staying at a Marriot property again - All in all, a masterclass in how to charge resort prices ($1000/night) for budget-hostel-level amenities. I’d give zero stars if I could.
