My husband and I had a romantic getaway last night. We stayed in the Pearl room. We were looking for an out of town getaway (not too far since we have a 9-year-old and no close by relatives) with a quiet atmosphere. The Hogan House was perfect from the hardwood floors throughout to the Christmas decorations; the attention to architecture throughout the home; the gas fire in the living room on Friday night; the tier of candies available in the living room while you enjoy the fire; and the overall ambiance! Our room was luxurious! We had a fluffy duvet on our bed, and while we relaxed watching a movie on our big screen TV, a wonderful breeze of lavender was coming from my pillow :) We brought microwave popcorn with us just in case, and the hostess graciously popped it for us. The bed was very comfortable! The breakfast was AMAZING! We had a gourmet breakfast of scrambled eggs with peppers and onions and cheese. We also had a delicious dish of shrimp scampi (sweet & sour, I believe), hash brown casserole and a tomato souffle. The best part of our breakfast was the dessert!!! It was an Australian dessert called Pavlova (name after the famous ballerina). It was made of meringue, whipped cream, strawberries, kiwi, blueberries and chocolate drizzle! The owner entertained us some with memories of her travels to other places throughout the world. Sherri is a native of Australia. Thank you for a wonderful...
Read moreWe visited the Hogan House for an overnight visit. If not careful you can pass it but there is adequate signage. There is also adequate off-street parking. ||We checked in and were shown to the Iris Suite. The suite was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. Not many rooms have a fireplace in the bathroom with a claw foot tub. ||However, when we were shown the room we were pretty sternly told to only turn the main light on and off at the wall switch. The light also controls the ceiling fan. Our problem was we could never figure out how to leave the ceiling fan on without the light being on. This made our room stuffy and quite warm leading to a poor nights sleep. This is a situation any electrician could remedy in about 15 minutes like we have at home. ||We tried to call the host to see what to do but could not get any help. Truthfully no no number or contact information was given. I actually called the main number on their website and have not received a response in over 48 hours. ||Second we were told we would have scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. The dining room was very pretty but when we visit a bed and breakfast we look forward to a unique breakfast. We can have eggs, bacon, and grits at home. ||So a beautiful house but a poor night’s sleep with an average breakfast with no visitor support deserves a...
Read moreThis B&B is AMAZING! Shanna, our hostess, was absolutely wonderful! She has only been the manager since October 2024, but she is incredibly accommodating to our every need. We had the three downstairs rooms. One of the rooms had an AC issue which was discovered about 8:00 p.m. our first night. When called, Shanna and her husband came over right away and fixed the problem. She offered to prepare an upstairs room, if they could not get it fixed. This beautiful home is filled with antiques and stained glass. Breakfast was just wonderful - delicious and beautifully presented! Hogan House was just perfect for our family. The beds were very comfortable. Every room had a fireplace. The antiques were beautiful. Even though you felt like you stepped back in time, we had wonderful modern conveniences. In most hotels and B&B's you have to hunt for enough outlets for phone, clock, etc. Each bed had a power strip on each side to accommodate all of our power needs! We had a very pleasant comfortable area to sit and visit. I can't say enough good things about our experience there. I would give it 10 stars, if I could! I would definitely stay there any time I am in the area and highly recommend Hogan House Bed & Breakfast, now renamed "Intermission...
