This hotel built in 1889 is a treasure and decorated in Victorian charm. It is as if you stepped back in time. Co-owner, Lori and her parents make sure you are well taken care of at all times. This is not our first time here and we keep coming back and enjoy the hotel a little bit more each time. We also appreciate the history and the building a little bit more each time as well. The parlour area as well as the deck has seen our family relaxing and enjoying a private party that ends up meeting other hotel guests as well as the owners to where we are making and meeting new friends and enjoying the ambiance of this hotel. I can't say enough good things about Hotel Josephine and will certainly make another trip for no other reason than staying at this hotel and seeing Lori again. I can't wait to try another room and enjoy the surroundings and friendship once more. I highly recommend this as well as enjoying the beautiful boutiques and unique shops that Holten, KS has to offer. I always come home with a beautiful treasure...

The fridge freezer was frozen completely shut and the old fridge didn't even keep our drinks cold. After we cleaned out the food that was left over from the last visitors we toured the other rooms on the second floor and were sad we didn't pick one of those. On a nice note the beds were pretty comfortable. Room gave off a dirty feel. Breakfast the first morning was brought to our room with the blackest coffee on the planet and cold, food was a breakfast casserole and it was cold as well. Left it in the hallway where it wasn't picked up until the next day. Went on the ghost tour later that night which was fun. Next morning ordered breakfast again, coffee much better but food was still lacking in heat. All in all, the people of the town of Holton were extremely nice. Owners and staff at the hotel were extremely nice, they just need to tweek...
Read moreThis hotel was in a great location on our way east and let us avoid traffic around Topeka. It was also in a great location in Holton-just a block from the town square. We walked around the town square-lots to see. We even saw a glass blowing demonstration at store on the square called More than Lemons. There is also a Mexican restaurant with good food but not fancy decor on the square.||||The town folks were nice. People waved while driving by. A car stopped and let us cross the street.||||The hotel was very nice. The room wasn't large but totally adequate. When we wanted a desk in the room, they brought one in from another room. There were little encouraging sayings around the hotel-just the right amount and location to be nice not pushy.||||The breakfast room isn't fancy. I was expecting a box of donuts to be out there but actually it was a pretty nice breakfast. Nice juice, muffins, bagels, home made jam, fruit, coffee and tea.||||I would definitely return to...
