I moved to Jackson County in May 2017 and called in April 2017 to schedule services with Giant Communications. I was given a connect date of May 5th... that day came and went, still no services. I called to reschedule, they said I had not paid the $200 deposit to connect. I attempted to make the payment over the phone and was told āumm, the person who takes payments is gone for the day, youāll have to call back.ā When I called, I advised, when someone comes to connect my service I will pay. They stated, their next connect date was not until June 6th. I advised that was unacceptable. They āfoundā a date to connect services on May 22nd. I was advised of a 2 year contract but I advised, I would NOT be signing a contract as this is only a temporary situation for me.
In the year of service, the internet has been slow and the cable service goes in and out. Prices are standard or comparable to my previous carrier. The few times I have called, Iāve gotten rude attitudes or not so knowledgeable staff. I paid for basic cable and 2 stations out of 20 channels donāt even have sound. We donāt watch much TV and when we do, itās mostly streaming from Netflix or Hulu. The internet is often too slow to stream, even though we pay for the faster service.
Fast forward to April 10, 2018, my lease is up and I am moving out in the country where Giant services are not offered. I call to schedule a disconnect, they tell me I am under contract until 2019. I advised, I did not sign anything. Instantly the rude customer service rep transfers me to her āsupervisor.ā The supervisor tells me, I initialed the application for services where it states I acknowledged the 2 year price lock contract. I advised, yes I acknowledged it but refused to sign it knowing I would move in 1 year. She said she would have to look into this and have Judy call me back. Still waiting of course... Iām fully prepared to go to court and fight this if need be.
So glad to be done with them... I would highly recommend using another provider over Giant...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I looked into getting internet service with this company because my neighbor recommended them. I called and they said I was in the area and I would be able to get internet but in order for them to come out to the house they needed a set up payment of $189.00. I paid the $189.00 over the phone and scheduled an installation for the next Day 2/3/2021. Well Giant Communications came out and just as my luck would have it my house was NOT within their signal. Long story short I could not get internet through them. That Monday I called them and asked for a full refund because I could not get service. The female I spoke to said i would get a full refund but it would take a week or two....... Well I have yet to see any of my refund. Iāve called several times with the last time today 3/12/2021 and spoke to Jan. Jan told me that I āmustā have missed the cut off in February and I now had to wait until 3/15/2021 for them to cut a check! She said I āshouldā get the check sometime after the 15th! This is completely unacceptable! Why take peoples money prior to making sure they even qualify for service? Not to mention the annoying tone I get from them each time Iāve called! If your going to get internet I would stay clear of these guys..... they like to money grab and then keep it without...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I can't completely give a bad review as our previous experience had been great but lately its frustrating! We pay $180 a month for 2 separate internet services a 50mb and a 100mb. Up until the last 2 months we only had a few brief issues that were resolved promptly. Lately there has been a bandwidth issue to which they claim was resolved. Immediately after this issue was supposedly resolved the issue has become worse. Literally both modems have extremely high pings causing even You Tube videos to buffer. This should not be an issue with 100mb or even 50 mb. I call their tech line and their guy that answers basically can't see a problem nor seems to care and has even told me that maybe we should seek another provider. What company does that? You have an issue with your server being over loaded but yet offer higher download speeds that you cannot provide at peak times. So basically between 6-9pm and weekends if you want to or need internet you fight everyone else using their system. Tonight I paid another $180 bill for services not adequately provided. I again will call tomorrow and speak to the guy that answers for tech to whom won't care and will put in another trouble ticket that won't resolve their issues. Sure wish you could figure out why things were great 2 months ago...
