Let me start by saying, everything I am going to mention starts at the top of the chain of command. All of the issues we encountered are clearly due to the owner and/or manager not having a standard of cleanliness and comfortability, and TBH barely a standard at all. They most certainly do not aim for return of business either just based off the experience we had. My husband, son and I booked this room for a one night stay since we were in town from a neighboring city to participate in a fishing tournament. Upon arrival, my husband waited 10 min before anyone was available or present in the lobby/front desk check-in area. Someone could have come in and robbed the place and they wouldn’t have known until said robbers were long gone lol Moving on.. when the front desk woman arrived and checked us in, she was very friendly and informative. The only reason they deserve a 1 star is because of the staff being so kind and friendly, we place zero blame on them, except housekeeping isn’t doing their job but I’ll get to that point soon. We checked in and then headed to our room. Upon opening the door to our room- we were smacked in the face with the deep rooted smell of mothballs!! Smelled like a huntin camp straight from the 1970’s that has been rained on for decades. So freaking gross and potent, you couldn’t escape the smell nor ignore it so I know for a fact that management and ownership have to be more than aware. The room clearly had been only reset with the towels, bedding, and toilet tree supplies but was far from clean. The housekeeping absolutely couldn’t have cleaned the room because the floors had dirt, dust and debris from the guest or guests prior to us and they just figured it was good enough to pass off. Wrong. Had to keep socks and shoes on the entire time. Same applies for the shower and vanity which had the previous guest or guests HAIR covering the tub and toilet surfaces. And I’m not talking about a string of hair here and there, no, black hair strewn through the shower and tub, the back of the toilet and on the seat. The vanity and sink area not only hadn’t been wiped down clean, but contained tiny little ants that crawled up the wall and on the vanity. I’m not sure what they have going on in this joint but beyond this review - the health department needs to be notified and that’s my next course of action because this establishment is downright dirty and so disgusting. Fortunately we didn’t see any bed bugs, insects or roaches but in the second floor hallway they had old box springs and furniture laid up against the wall with what I can only assume was probably once smothered in bed bugs because let’s face it, based off the room we stayed in - they had no intentions of upgrading “just because”. They can’t even clean the rooms properly so I’d say it’s a safe bet I am probably right with this assumption. Additionally, the property and pool area had debris just lying around that if children were to get curious with, it could be a potential lawsuit on their hands for lack of safety and disposal. I’d say that I am certain I can’t be the only guest who has experienced this hell hole of a property and for Quality Inn as a corporate chain to allow this type of standard and reputation to be attached to their name, should really reevaluate their property owners and management. You can bet my family and I will gladly never return and gladly reccomend you stay elsewhere. A tent would have been a better experience than the Quality Inn in Crystal...
Read moreWe arrived for a 2 night stay, booked through the website of choicehotels, as we did all of the hotels during our road trip.
Our check in was so so, not really welcoming.
We got room 206 and when we had brought all our luggage of the stairs we started to put some food in the fridge. To our surprise we dound some yoghurt, left in there by a previous guest, the fridge obviously had not been cleaned or checked by a maid.
I had some work to so on the laptop and since there was no desk, I had to use a wobbly round table next to the window. That's when I found out that the electrical outlet did not work, the lamp didn't work and neither did the laptop because of lack of power. I couldn't work anywhere else so I had a problem.
When I went to reception, the guy didn't seem to matter very much. When I insisted I needed to work, he finally gave us a new room, the one next door, 208.
So we hauled all of our luggage to the next room. This new room actually looked cleaner so we were pleased, until we opened the fridge again and found a plastic box with 6 pastries/cakes in it. Again, it had abviously not been cleaned or even checked. Yuck. We were disgusted.
When I went to the bathroom I noticed an ant. Later, while showering another ant. An during the evening we saw several. At night I woke up from something crawling on my face, in the morning I found a dead ant on the pillow.
When my sister went to use the bathroom at night she saw a roach, it was the first time ever that we saw one. In the morning I saw 2 more in the room. We were utterly disgusted.
When I reported all that at reception, the new receptionist did not seem to care either. Nothing was said or done to make us feel better.
This is called a Quality Inn and we've stayed in several, some even 4 nights. This hotel was even worst that the worst we've ever stayed in. We felt very cheated since it was NOT a cheap hotel and if quality had not mattered to us, we would've booked a cheaper hotel.
We would NOT recommend this hotel and think hotel and staff should start cleaning and offering more service to guists. We are even privilege members, a lot of good...
Read moreFront desk very nice and helpful .However room lock did not work and they could not make a key that would work and therefore each time I entered the room I had to get whomever was at the front desk to come unlock the room. This is not acceptable. I guess since no one could get into the room without a real key no one bothered to change the towels out or empty the trash so room had no service while I was there. Also the toilet in my room had to be manually flushed which meant I had to take the lid off each time I used it and yank on a flushing mechanism to open the flush valve so that the water would enter the bowl to remove waste. I don't consider this acceptable either. The tank handle had been rigged to "work" in a retrofitted tank valve and needless to say it did not work. You would have to push down on the tank handle on the outside with both hands to make it flush which made me very nervous that I was going to break off the tank handle. Therefore I removed the tank lid each time and pulled up on the mechanism to make it flush. Since I am a former plumber I knew what to do. The majority of people would not and could have easily broken off the tank handle or worse broken the tank.
When I first had problems with the door I was told that they would have to fix it the next day. I said I wanted to be moved to a room that the door key lock did work and was told the hotel was booked and I could not be moved. At that point at 4 in the afternoon there were approximately 5 vehicles in the parking lot so I knew that not everyone had checked in. All I wanted was a non smoking room so I felt sure I could have been moved. But I thought if they were going to fix the room key lock the next day I could live with it. The next day came and it was not fixed plus I already had the problem with the toilet. Then to find that the room had not been serviced made me pretty angry. I will not be staying there again.
Other than that everything else was decent. Room was clean, TV channels plentiful, felt safe...
