My wife and I spent a night in Tent Echo. We decided to try the glamping experience. We enjoyed our stay, but mostly because of the campsite hosts. They were terrific. As for the review of the glamping experience, it was more of a romantic novelty than our standard choice for overnight stays. The campsite itself has a single entrance/exit and is situated on about five acres. The back end of the campsite has a trail leading down to the beach. The campground was clean and maintained very well. There is a variety of choices when it comes to overnight glamping. The campsite had tents, tiny homes, hookups for RVs, and several spots for setting up your own tent. Our tent was spacious and had a comfortable king size bed, hard wood floors, and a small fireplace. The windows are zip open screens, typical of a tent. We really enjoyed the front deck and spent the morning and evening enjoying the sound of the ocean sitting on the porch sipping coffee. We stayed at Pacific Dunes early in the summer before schools let out or the crowds show up for to the beaches, so it was quiet. There is a central Latrine, shower and washing facility in the center of the camp for everyone to use. None of the tents have their own bathrooms. The central latrine was very clean and well maintained. The bathroom areas are large and there is a single shower for each gender. There are also outdoor showers for rinsing off when you come back from the beach. The entire campsite is clean, landscaped and maintained. There is also a central camp store and office area. You can find soft drinks and snacks as well as other sundry items. Plus, there is a real expresso machine, and the Americano I had was perfect. As I mentioned, the real difference in any of these types of campsites, is the hosts. And in this case, the couple managing Pacific Dunes were awesome. They were very cheerful, helpful and courteous. We had a wonderful time just chatting with them. As for the beach: We were fortunate to be on the beach when the tide was out. The beach has a lot of sand. It seems to go for miles. We could have spent the entire day on the beach if I wasn't so prone to sunburn. Perfect for a family weekend. The kids and dogs will love it. There were only a couple of items I need to critique. One: There is not enough electricity provided to the tents. Yes, we're supposed to be camping in a tent. But the only available outlet was an extension cord attached to the headboard of the bed. All the tents have one single electric cord coming into the back of the tent behind the bed. Plugged into a multi-plug outlet that has only enough space to provide for the lamps and clock and the single extension cord for personal use. We brought both of our phones. I have an apple watch, and my wife has other devices that need to be plugged in or charged overnight. Adequate power outlets are essential for any modern camping experience. The only other item I should mention is the little freestanding woodstove. It was very nice to have a stack of logs and kindling in the tent for us to use. However, the wood was too green to light, so the kindling burned up each time before I could get the wood to burn. So, we never fully got to enjoy a nice fire. In the middle of the summer, this might not be a big deal, but it was still cool at night and in the morning when we woke and a fire is a nice touch for the full glamping experience. Overall, I rate the...
Read moreAll those positive reviews are either fake or totally out of realm of reality because there is zero chance the tents or bathroom was ever clean (bathroom in same nasty state customers complained about in 2020.) We arrived at our tent at 5:45pm, the moment we entered tent , the over- powering smell of mold hit us and we both immediately started unzipping all windows. I saw air purifier and went to turn on but it was unplugged behind & under bed. Moved bed and was disgusted on the amount of dust & cobwebs accumilated under bed. The powerstrip thick in dust & dead insects. The bed frame the same. Looking at the chairs & tables and same thick nasty dust & insects. Starting inspecting even more and found the light fixture hanging from ceiling completely wrapped in cobwebs. The log running length of ceiling was completely covered in cobwebs with dead & live spiders. I began cleaning all tables, chairs, bed frame. I then swept floor and in shock the big pile of cobwebs and dust mound just from underneath bed. Halfway through sweeping, i could no longer breath and due to all the mold the tent was covered in, i couldn't stay one more minute in the awful tent if i cared at all about my health.. I needed to use restroom before we left and big mistake, the bathroom was dark, smelly and no exjaggerating when i say that the only soap & cleaning bathroom has seen has been in years if at all. The toilet bowl walls were extremely dark (bowl never seen toilet brush & cleanser. I couldnt image showering here. When i flushed the toilet, the nastiest smell ive ever smelled engulfed me and i started to gag , i couldnt get out fast enough for fresh air. 6:00pm zipped up our tent and drove to beach (yep that right, tents not located on beach front but at least 20 minute walk to beach. Like magic after 20 minutes of beachcoming, was i able to get my full breath again. Mold has great adverse health effects and needs to be addressed and removed. Since no response from resort after mentioning all this, i had to write off $100 charge for a service of which i did not receive, and if resort not going to refund a customers rightful refund (and i can see now why no office or being seen, with communicating through texts only, is the preferred route Owners. Lessoned learned, i just paid slum owners $100 for a service that i didn't receive, basically i paid $100 to partly clean a strangers nasty results from failure to ever clean a place. Quite the payout. YOUR BATHROOM HAS NEVER SEEN ONE DAY OF ONE ITEM EVER BEING CLEANED. THOSE GREAT REVIEWS OF CLEAN BATHROOM AND OWNER'S CLAIMS OF IN MIDDLE OF REMODELING BATHROOM ,ARE OUTRIGHT COMPLETE LIE!!! Resort is overcharging for a place that could have great health disadvantages. A complete hotel room with ocean view out the window, charging half what your choosing to charge. YOUR BATHROOM NEEDS TO BE CONDEMNED AND WHY IT HASNT, I'LL NEVER KNOW. If you care about your health at all, then run far away from this slum owner. FYI- not one thing was made up, exjhrated, done out of spite or done to cop a free tent night stay. I thought it was illegal for a business to charge for service they dont provide. I've already written money off as a very well learned lesson as to why never skip over reviews from prior customers. Keep money that doesnt belong to you, it shows...
Read moreOh my gosh, this is one of the most charming places Iâve ever stayed! We loved it! We definitely want to come back!
Itâs close to the beach with an enchanting trail that leads to a bridge to access the beach.
We booked our weekend in one of the family size Glamping tents. The picture we saw on the website wasnât exactly what we got. The one they show on the website has a rug and we really did wanna rug and almost brought one but thought we would have one and then didnât when we got there, and they didnât have one to give us. That might sound insignificant, but itâs cold in the winter and we expected a rug based on the picture which wouldâve given a little more warmth for a pleasing environment. We had to move to a cabin, which we were accommodated for, because it was too cold to stay comfortably. The woodstove in our tent did not work efficiently. We couldnât sleep because it was just painfully cold and had to wake up a couple times to stoke the stove which was really prohibitive for us with the cold temperatures. We were totally prepared to stay, and would have if the stove worked. We burned through four nights of wood in one night because it was really more like a fireplace than a wood stove without the damper working right. The other drawback with the Glamping tent was that Because of the colder temperatures and the frost, the front porch and stairs were very slippery. It would be nice if there were slip prevention surface added to winterize for safety. However, we loved the cabin they gave us when we told them of the situation-they moved us to a cabin with no extra charge, which was lovely. They did give us a 10% discount for the night that We stayed in the tent, but honestly for the inconvenience of having to move all our stuff to another place it wouldâve been nice for them to have removed the cost, or given us a more significant discount, and offered to make us coffee in the morning or just some thing more âhost friendlyâ. they have a cute little store there with eggs from their chickens, and it really is cute and Quaint!
There was a barking dog in one of the other units - that was concerning - but it was far enough away that it didnât keep us awake. We could just hear it all day long.
Having said all that⊠They were kind, and we loved it, and would totally go back! Just think they could make a few improvements that would really go...
