People experience a variety of perspectives when rating businesses. I chose to wait a day before reporting on this establishment because I was struggling to adopt the appropriate “perspective”. So, here we go:
We (a party of 4) arrived at 5:30 PM on Monday, 28 June 2021. We are senior citizens in our late 60s and 70s. The place was packed.
I entered the Pub to query on wait times and was asked if I was on “the list”. I said “no” and asked, “How long of a wait if I was to be placed on “the list”? I was told there is one party of 4 ahead of us, so I asked to be added and gave my name.
As I went outside to wait, the party before us was called, so we sat and waited for our turn. As senior citizens, we tend not to be in a hurry and this grill pub did not disappoint. Two other parties of 5 arrived (mostly children w/parents) and they were seated immediately. Well, our stomachs were empty; but, our hearts were warm as the little ones smiled on their way in.
We enjoy a laid back life style here on the coast, so taking our time was right in line with the Pub’s operating tempo. They demonstrated remarkable laid-backness as we were seated at glacial-speeds.
Six o’clock comes and we were treated to outside seating, drink & dinner orders taken, along with our request for indoor seating if it became available; one of the ladies was chilled.
Six fifteen arrives, no drinks; but alas, we were seated inside. The servers are very very focused on not interfering with customers chatting and enjoying the view. Six thirty and no server or drinks so we went to see if we could help. 6:45 PM drinks arrive; I guess I was not helpfu…
At 7:00 PM no sign of food yet… time to get up and track down a server. Finding one, I was assured our order was in the kitchen (fish & chips, a burger, taco salad, and prawn plate) but they only had one cook. This cook must prefer fixing younger people food as numerous families came, ate, and left as we watched the sun setting.
At 7:15 PM, I called a manager/owner [?], explained while we appreciated the slow pace, our bedtime was soon approaching and could we get some consideration on our bill for the delays. Wow, did I hit the jackpot! I received a free education on the food service business from grill pub 101 to a Masters degree, and why it was illegal to compensate any of our alcohol beverages. Glad I am aware of this now because every other eating establishment within a hundred mile radius often give complimentary dinners or drinks… shame on those law breakers.
Perhaps I was being unfair and the dishes we ordered were more complicated than I realized…Dinner arrives at 7:45 PM along with a flood of nostalgia from the 50s and 60s. The fish and chips reminded me of the fish sticks my mom use to make on Fridays; glad I ordered 2 pieces. The remaining dishes can be purchased at fast-food chains I need not mention, at about 1/3 the cost. I won’t mention food quality/taste because at our age and stage of hunger, our pallets did not work as well as the use to.
In summary, the manager/owner must have had a soft spot for seniors because she gave us a 5% discount on two of the four entrees we ordered. So Seniors, if you enjoy relaxed, slow pace dining experience at a discount, you owe yourself a visit to the Green...
Read moreGreen Lantern treats visiting 68 yr old disabled Vietnam vet with disrespect! And also stole my money! Here is my true story: After buying my friend and I a drink and meeting the seemingly nice bartender, my friend asked if I wanted to go out back to have a smoke, adding we can take our drinks out there. By the time I put my cash and wallet away, my friend was no where to be found.. I then proceeded to find the smoking area and went out the door. Then a lady, and I use that term lightly, grabbed my full drink and ran, not walked ,inside and poured it down the sink! .When we found the owner and told her what happened, she said the waitress women told her I was mixing the drink in the car where i walked to get my cigarettes.. This WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! When asked if I could get my $7.50 drink back,,, or at the very least my money back she rudely said , and I quote, " NO ! I smell alcohol on your breath and you guys have to leave " It was early morning and I had two sips of my drink before it was tossed, My friend did finish his $7.50 drink. This was our first beverage of the day! I am from Las Vegas Nevada so I have to ask" Is this how you treat tourists in Washington? " Rather then call for a boycott of this rude business, I encourage people to stop in and ask them If they are trying hurt the area 's tourism? Whether or not you choose to make a purchase, Well, thats up to you! signing a Retired Veteran...
