A really great location. This is why I've rated 4 stars instead of 3. However the rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade in order to maintain their RCI gold status.
The following complaints are only because of this expected high standard that follows a hotel at this price.
The kitchen was falling apart and I would not recommend this place in its current state for anyone who plans on actually cooking. The electric stove was dated and caused unnecessary smoke when on too high. Because the vent was not only broken but redirected air into your face this issue was much more apparent.
The Internet access was deplorable even when it worked (which was about 50% of the time) they need wireless/wired access points in every room due to the age of the building and signal interference--which also affected cell signal on the lower condos which could be solved by contacting T-Mobile, sprint and at&t (something that would be above and beyond but not expected). Average signal speed on lower level was about 1 MB/s when working. Strongly recommend staff put in the effort to either hard wire Ethernet or at least utilize a powerline that supports around 64 adapters.
ADA accessibility. There is a single elevator that can get to all condos. The driveway is too steep to be walked up which can prohibit someone from getting to the office from their condos. There were steps to both the pool and to the docks prohibiting someone from getting to the docks completely (this also made transporting coolers a bit of a pain)
The washer/dryer unit was in the condo it worked well but was one of the mini ones so be aware.
Now to the good.
The views. It was such a beautiful place and looking out across the water reminded you that this is a place to connect to nature.
The location. Right on the lake it provided easy access to the lake via a dock and a small secluded area to swim (as long as you don't mind the steps). We rented a boat for two days and utilized their dock. It was beautiful and amazing. The water during the summer was around 70 deg and was just a tad warm for me. However further north on the lake it reached 40 deg. We found a happy middle ground somewhere between to boat and swim.
Hospitality. There's a reason southern hospitality is known nationwide. The owner was extremely kind and very helpful. She recommended we visit their other hotel and utilize their hot tub as well as offering about 50 different movies (old ones but still good). She gave our group passes to use the local gym as well but unfortunately we ran out of time. They offer day passes to the gym for anyone staying with them.
The beds were quite comfortable and the condo was overall quite homey.
Overall the views and the location kept this visit as a positive and overall 4 stars. However if I ever returned I would expect the Internet access and the kitchen to be completely remodeled. If not I would expect their gold status to drop to silver (which would reflect in...
Read moreMy wife and I booked this place because it had stellar review and is a RCI Gold Crown resort. We are shocked with this rating and will not be coming back or recommending to family or friends.
This is definitely more of a long-term condominium with a few rental units. There's not a ton to do right on the resort, but the area is nice on Lake Hamilton (hence the 2nd star).
The cleanliness of the building and the unit are ok. There are quite a few spider webs in our unit and outside on the railing. We've found a few beetles/other bugs in our unit and have released them outside. The balcony facing the lake has a great view, but is sticky and doesn't seem to have been swept or cleaned in a while.
The unit is kinda run down, but is in ok shape. Our unit has a king bed in one bedroom and two twins in the second. The microwave won't work with the sensor but works if we put in a time. We mentioned this to the front desk, but it was deemed not critical enough to fix.
The wifi is terrible. According to speed test I did online, we're getting about 0.4 mbps to 1.8 mbps. This makes the smart TVs basically worthless as we can't stream any hulu or netflix and it takes forever to research things to do around town on our phones/computers. There is cable but if we hit the guide button, it freezes the TV for about 4-6 minutes and then we get a guide that is very buggy and slow. We've made due just flipping through channels one by one to try and find something to watch.
If we were going more old school and just reading inside and not needing any internet connection, this would be an ok place. But it's definitely not worth its RCI gold crown status and leaves a lot...
Read moreNot cleaned before or after our arrival(except by me). Only beds had been made. Dirty dishes, glasses, flatware in drawers and cabinets so I had to wash everything. Carpets are brown, browner and sticky. Jets in tub appeared never to have been cleaned since installation. Smelled musty and moldy and found the HVAC filter looked like gray indoor/outdoor carpet. The walls and other surfaces had splashes of ? and were visibly dirty. Office is closed on Sundays and the answer to cleaning is housekeeping is contracted to arrive on Wed and Sat only. Monday morning maintenance man was good but that only required a notice outside our doorknob that he picked up and no management contact. When we finally got a callback from the owner an offer of an additional week and cleaning 2 days later was laughable. The stairs throughout the complex look like they were constructed without measuring tape or level and are dangerous. The steps in a flight of stairs ranged from 4-11 inches high with different angles and the rails were about 4 inches lower than standard. Rustic?? The view from here is great but can't distract from the filthy interior. Find somewhere else to stay! We left 3 days early because, although the air filter had been changed, the air was still affecting my...
