My small family only stayed two nights. Staff was friendly. Our reserved non-smoking room was clean but reeked of cigarette smoke anyway. The pool was used at least until we went to sleep at around midnight both nights. Thankfully the noise from our AC drowned most of their noise out. We weren’t left enough towels after room service, but that was not a big deal, and we just shared. The contracted landscaping crew worked at least until around midnight both nights as well. The first night consisted of the eardrum penetrating sounds of a dumptruck dumping landscaping rocks on the pavement next to our cars well after 11pm, and then the subsequent sounds of a shovel scraping it off the pavement and dumping again into the flower beds. We could see and hear this until we finally fell aspleep around midnight. The second night was pretty much the same story except for the fact that this time the motel’s construction/landscaping ativities consisted of one guy on a weed eater and another guy cutting grass on a zero-turn mower. Again, amongst our vehicles and at least up until the time we went to sleep around midnight. The nocturnal landscaping crew didn’t seem to deter the late-night pool revelers in the slightest bit, however. I guess this was a good thing... for them, anyway. All in all we are very easy people to please, and since all we really needed was a decent place to lay our heads at night, we were satisfied. I’m a reasonable person and very well understand the fact that in life you get what you pay for. Even though the stay had the potential to be much worse, it also has the potential to be much better in the future if a handful of key changes are implemented, that...
Read moreI think I got the same room as the reviewer on yelp that I didn't see until after checking in. To start off, the only thing this place has going for it is it’s a cheap room near both the lake and the hot springs. However, this was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. It looks newly renovated on the pictures online, but it was poorly done and already in bad shape. The outlets on the nightstand didn’t work. Everything smelled musty like the rooms hadn’t been cleaned in a while. We requested a smoke free ADA room with a roll in shower, but it REEKED of cigarettes and weed, and all through the night it kept getting Stronger like it was coming from the rooms nearby or maybe the ac unit was pulling it in from outside. The bathroom had a (moldy and dirty) shower chair. The shower handle didn’t have a set on for cold or hot. It spins full 360 through cold to hot and off and doesn’t stop. The water never got above lukewarm. There was mold above the shower head on the ceiling. The floors were dirty. The towel rack was pulled half out the wall were you could see the screw anchors sticking out the wall. The linens were still dirty and musty. There was both long and short hairs, stains, cigarette burns, and some weird black spots that I hope weren’t bugs on the sheets and some on the towels. The peephole was dirty so you couldn’t see out. There’s a 1/2” gap between the door and the threshold. The safety bar had obviously been reattached to a previously damaged doorframe, like someone had busted it in before. We...
Read moreThe location was great and the receptionist was super nice, but she definitely mentioned how the 2nd floor rooms were cleaner and safer than the first floor rooms while we were checking in...which made me question my safety and sanitation despite being on the 2nd floor. Why would this be the case? Shouldn't all of the rooms be safe and clean? I don't know if I ever saw anything about smoking/non-smoking rooms posted either, but our room REEKED of cigarettes. My husband and I joked about getting the black lung and aging a couple of years after one night in the room. Everything seemed tidy otherwise (considering it was the cheapest motel in the area and we just stayed there to avoid pitching our tent at the State Park during a thunderstorm, as we had planned before the weather turned), but I didn't use a black light either... The guy in the room next to us had changed rooms because he said his first room had bugs and something blood-like smeared on the floor...but that's just what we heard, not what we experienced ourselves. This definitely didn't help the "clean and safe" expectation though. To be honest, I likely wouldn't recommend the Motel 6 to anyone planning a non-last-minute stay out of necessity...especially because we don't really have any friends/family who are smokers and would be okay with how badly the room smelled of cigarettes. We weren't asked for a smoking/non-smoking preference at check-in, so we just kind of assumed all of them would be non-smoking...thanks for housing us for the...
