Never again!
My fiance and I recently stayed at this hotel while in town for a five day long event at NASA's facilities. The location is conveniently located near the Space and Rocket Center as well as a number of other points of interest. This is the only reason they earned two stars instead of one.
Our check in experience was fair, but slow. The young lady was quite friendly, but instead of getting the transaction completed efficiently, she chose to share with us a rather lengthy story about the drama in her personal life that were much more direct than I felt appropriate. When she was finished she explained the "Take and Go" breakfast and that all of the amenities described as standard had to be requested individually and picked up at the front desk. Effectively the kitchen equipment, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc had to be requested and picked up if we wanted to use them.
Upon entering our room, it appeared to be reasonably presentable, and we unpacked. The login to the "Free WIFI" was a bit clumsy, the interface pushed for an upgrade to a "High Speed" connection for an additional $5.95/day, and the connection that resulted was painfully slow. My fiance reset her tablet to use her celular plan because the WIFI was so slow.
As we were getting ready to go to bed the first night, my fiance found a small bug in the bedding that looked a lot like a baby cockroach to me but I couldn't be sure. I expected her to want to leave immediately, but she relaxed and agreed to stay after I disposed of the bug. In the morning I went for coffee and breakfast to find that the so called breakfast was no more than hot water and instant oatmeal packets.
The second night (Thursday) my fiance went out to smoke a cigarette about 11:30 pm, and while out in the designated area witnessed the arrival of four police cruisers and an ambulance responding to some sort of disruption. She came to our room to safety, and we chatted for a bit then fell to sleep. I was awakened after midnight by a phone call on the room telephone from a man that didn't identify himself, just started asking questions. They asked who was in the room, and if an individual unknown to us was staying there too. It was some time after that before we were able to relax and go back to sleep.
On the morning of our check out we got up and found another bug. This one was unmistakably an adult cockroach, wich I killed immediately and we took the remains to the front desk with a complaint. The lady at the desk was pleasant enough about the complaint and proceeded to check us out and credit some of the cost. When all was said and done the credit was for $40.00 plus tax. It is insulting to be compensated that amount when the costs we have to bear to prevent bringing cockroaches into our home will way exceed the total cost of...
Read moreOn arrival for our 2 night stay, we were greeted with a lovely, warm welcome from Estoria who, although we arrived early, was very kind and allowed us to check-in. She also explained about the 'Grab and Go' Breakfast (we didn't use so cannot comment on this) and later saw me and produced a box of kitchen essentials for me before I'd even asked for them. She was very helpful and it was appreciated!
On entering our room you could smell a definite hint of stale nicotine when you walked in and I got the impression this room hadn't been used for some time? I had booked a non-smoking room but was under the impression, on entering the lift, that the rooms were all non-smoking based on the notice in there, so can only assume that is enforced? (see photo). So, based on this I didn't complain about the smell as it didn't seem fresh and I am assuming the room is now non-smoking. The rooms also have non-smoking on the numbers too so it seems strange that if using 'Booking com' you can request a 'smoking' or 'non-smoking' room? So I don't know if it is or isn't a non-smoking estsblishment... Confusing🤔 Not to be deterred, we walked in. The furniture in the room was old and worn and the kitchenette too showed signs of years of wear and tear. The room itself appeared to have what we needed and the stale smell was soon unnoticeable after being in the room for 2 minutes. However, I did notice that the floor was very dirty but being tired and just wanting to settle in, I cleaned the floor myself with a wet cloth. The next morning I spoke with a nice lady in reception and asked if housekeeping would kindly mop the floor whilst we were out. We returned later that evening and I assume the floor had been mopped as an envelope had been left. (see photo) Based on what was written about making the room "Guest Ready" I decided a tip wasn't warranted as the room should've been clean before we arrived and even on leaving, the floor in this room is in need of a deep clean as socks and feet were still filthy walking on it. Cleanliness was definitely lacking in our room. Positives: The room was a good size and had what we needed to be self-sufficient and everything was functional and the same for the bathroom. The WiFi was good; The bed was clean and VERY comfortable and the pillows, I have to say, were pretty good compared to some we've had on this road trip. I cannot fault the reception staff we've dealt with who were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, this motel served its purpose for our stay due to its location but everything just felt 'tacky' to touch.... Switches, phone, alarm clock etc. In my opinion this place could so easily be a really great stopover if rooms were...
Read moreMy wife and I had to stay at this place for a month when moving to the area for a new job. If I have a choice I won't ever set foot in this place again. Let me say that I had virtually no problem with the service. They were very friendly and helpful. The rest of the experience was miserable.
First off, I didn't like the configuration of the hotel. There are walkways that run in front of probably 80% of the rooms, so if you have your shades open, people can look in your room. When you're right by the steps that happens quite frequently. I'm personally not a fan of people being able to look in my room and see what I have or see me period. We heard yelling many times outside at night while we were staying there, which I'm not sure why the people who work there did nothing about. We would frequently find beer bottles outside as well. There was a gap at the bottom of the door to our room, and we had bug problems. We had them come to do something about it, but the treatment they gave the room didn't do a whole lot of good.
The washer and dryer for the facility were smaller than a laundry mat, and just as expensive. Had I thought about it I would have saved some money and found a laundry mat nearby to use as we would have saved money. I don't know which people were staying there with car problems, but there were car alarms going off frequently the first couple of weeks we were there. The satellite TV cut out several times when it rained heavily, and the channel selection was poor. Don't expect to do any real cooking on the "stove" either. The walls were paper thin, and trust me, we could hear things I'd rather not have had to.
I am thankful I was compensated for staying there, otherwise I would say it was the greatest waste of spending my money in my entire life. I will end this review with a quote from Billy Madison, "I award you no points, and may God have mercy...
