Upon entering the room, I immediately encountered several issues that made my stay uncomfortable. The bathroom door would not shut properly, as it was misaligned with the lock and could not be secured for privacy. Additionally, the lock on the outside of the bathroom appeared to have been tampered with, as it was bent and unusable.
The cleanliness of the bathroom was also concerning. There was hair all over the tub, towels, and wall. In the kitchen sink there was dried spoiled milk. The counters were dirty, and there was a stain on the wall near the west bed that looked like it had been caused by a liquid spill and was never cleaned.
To make matters worse, we encountered two cockroaches during our stay, which we left on tissues in the bathroom for the housekeeping staff to see.
On Friday night, we attempted to switch rooms but were informed that no rooms were available and that I could speak with management the following day. I contacted guest services Friday night and Saturday morning, who referred me to the front desk, again. When I spoke to the front desk staff on Saturday, she assured me she would do everything possible to rectify the situation and promised to call me back. After waiting for three hours without any communication, I returned to the front desk, as I had an event to attend. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was given your business card and told that you aren't bothered on the weekend but would be in on Monday. Unfortunately, I was told there was nothing she could do at that moment, but she could move me later, which was not feasible due to my schedule.
Moreover, I noticed that the staff member at the front desk had a child with her behind the desk, which was quite distracting during our interactions.
Upon checking out on Sunday morning, I was not given a receipt for my stay. The front staff attendant stated she couldn’t provide one due to the printer not working and assured me she would email me one, which she has still failed to do as of 9:00p.m. Sunday evening.
Additionally, I was overcharged for my room. As an IHG member, I booked online for the amount of $286.76, but I was charged $311.78, which is a $25.02 upcharge with no explanation. The amounts were seen on IHG app and my bank account due to no receipt given.
As an IHG member, I feel that I should be treated better and that my loyalty should be recognized.
I reached out to the General Manager via email about all of my issues and still have yet to receive an email or a...
Read moreHad an issue with another IHG brand hotel that resulted in a very poor night's sleep. Called this Candlewood and spoke with a rep by phone, explaining the situation and asking if I could check out of that hotel and come check in to Candlewood for the next day. I specifically asked if they had capacity to allow for a very early check-in (7 AM) and was told yes and encouraged to do so. No further requirements were mentioned by them. ||Upon arrival, the desk rep said she could do that but that there would be a 1/2 day fee for early check-in. I explained I was an IHG Platinum member (a benefit of which is that early check-in is included). I also repeated the overall situation and my talk with another rep there. Further, I explained that I would be staying using points, so there would be no full-day rate to calculate a fee on anyhow. She said there was nothing she could do and the half-day fee would be based on their 'full rack rate', which happened to be 100% higher than what it actually would have been to just book right then online.||I asked to speak with a manager and was told they would not be in for at least two hours. I commented that yes that was probably true because they - like me - would like to get actual sleep. I left in disgust at the abysmally short-sighted and poor service, especially to a very frequent client.||I went to another very similar IHG hotel, Staybridge Suites, who was more than pleased to accommodate me - and without fee. Candlewood properties? ...
Read moreI wanted to like this place, I really did. But the longer I stayed, the more I found stuff wrong. And I only stayed one night. |The A/C was old and noisy. The refrigerator was noisy. There was a weird random GRRT! noise somewhere behind the bathroom wall. You couldn't hear it when the A/C was blasting away, but whenever the A/C shut off, there it was again. GRRT! ||My feet stuck to the floor, sneakers or slippers, stick stick stick. Big stain on the carpet. Several stains on the seat of one chair, stain on the arm of another. Greasy stain in the center of the table. Everything in the kitchen had a fine sticky film all over it. Forks & spoons were thin and cheap as they could be. GRRT! ||When I took a shower, I stepped out to get one of the tiny bars of soap. When I was done, I used the bathmat to mop up the water on the floor. It came up filthy. Both sides. How about not using dirty water when you clean a floor? GRRT!||There is no lid on the toilet. Towels hang directly over the open toilet, so you do the math. GRRT!||The curtains let light in at the bottom, so it never got very dark. GRRT!||I called the front desk about the noise at about 1:30, & the person who answered said, Hmm, I don't know, nobody's ever complained about that before. GRRT! ||When I checked out, a sign at the front desk said that IHG wants to make right any problems. So I told the clerk about the problems. She made notes & took my phone number and said the manager would call me the next day. Never got...
