Avoid! I stayed overnight after attending a friend's wedding in the area. Iron Ridge Inn seemed convenient due to its location. What a mistake I made. My room was located in the Inn's "addition." I returned to my room with some luggage after the wedding reception. During my preparations for bed, I heard a knock on a door. The Inn's "addition" was built poorly. The "addition's" walls and floors are paper thin, so I could hear everything going on in adjacent rooms. I assumed this knock was for someone else. A few moments later, I heard another knock. This time I could ascertain the knock was on my door. I was not expecting a visitor at this late hour, so it took me a few moments to make myself presentable. I answered the door. A woman, who I did not recognize, had been knocking. Before I could even say hello, she angrily told me that I better quiet down or she is going to call the police. Before I could even say that I wasn't really making any noise, but the adjacent rooms were, she told me that she was a hotel employee and I would not be getting a second warning; I found this woman's behavior odd because she was not wearing a uniform and had a very unprofessional demeanor. I did not really feel like arguing with this irate employee this late at night, so I apologized for someone else's noise and closed my door. This this employee's demeanor upset me, so I decided to take a shower to cool off before bed. As I went to turn on my shower, the shower head fell off the pipe sticking out of the wall and sprayed with water. This failure was due to a cracked plastic plumbing fitting. As I look at the shower head that just fell off the wall, I realize that it is a cheap residential model not designed to last very long at all. At this point, I give up on taking a shower, and resigned myself too sleeping in an expensive, poorly managed, and...
Read moreWent out to Celebrate my Wife's Birthday with her parents today. Her mother was celebrating a new job as well and they wanted to take us her because in the past it was so good. When we went in it was clean and we were greeted quickly and the employees were very friendly. Three of us got the buffet while my wife got chicken tenders. As soon as I got to the buffet I noticed the familiar cheep smell of instant mashed potatoes. Now I don't mind instant, but at a buffet? That's just the beginning.the Fish was cold, the chicken tasted old like it sat out at room temp, the soup they brought me was either canned overcooked or old as the carrots had that distinct fall apart in your mouth texture. When my wife's chicken tenders came they looked like a brand me and my wife buy at aldis...tasted like it too. My father in law ate 2 pieces of fish and could do no more it was so disgusting. My mother in law tried the salad which was brown and soggy and was instantly done herself. This meal was abysmal. J don't remember what the buffet plates costed but for 3 people it came out to about 40 bucks...my wife's frozen chicken tenders 16 bucks. Not only was the food incredibly disgusting but we were ripped off. As we left the owner took our money and asked us how it was. We expressed our unhappiness and she replied back with a sharp ok through pursed lips. Couldn't even apologize. I will never go back to eat there. I can only imagine that these 5 star reviews are from the owners themselves. I have worked at Outback steakhouse and Olive Garden as well as another restaurant deserving of the 5 stars it has that shall remain unnamed. I know food. This was all disgusting 3 or more day old frozen products from Pickensave. DO NOT EAT HERE. Save your money and go somewhere nice. I wouldn't have fed this food to rabbid starving raccoons as I beleive it would count as...
Read moreI chose this hotel for a few reasons, but the main reason was we needed someplace for EAA and didn't want to spend 700.00 a night. I have family that live 2 blocks away, so I have stayed here once before, and it was ok, so I booked 2 rooms for 4 nights.| I know it had quaint grandma charm and an extremely limited "breakfast" ie Sams Club muffins and instant oatmeal, so that was expected, but........|What I didn't expect was:|- the broken pool/hot tub, the pool has been under repair for 3 weeks, and now was waiting for the pool inspector to sign off on it|- the non-existent breakfast, only hot water and coffee, |The extremely spotty wifi, if I sat in the hall, I could get half a bar for about 2 min. I thought maybe it was because we had a room below ground, so I went upstairs by the registration desk at it was the same|The room had real windows, and it was very nice out, so we wanted to open them. Nope, there were large spider webs in the sills that had been there for a very long time|I could overlook all those things, but the one thing that was difficult was the fact that the room stank! The smell of mildew was overpowering. Think wet dog wearing dirty socks (hence wanting to open the windows). The overall feel to the room was also very damp. |We did get a discount for the rooms due to the broken pool, but we couldn't move rooms as the hotel was full, and due to EAA, there wasn't anything reasonable available | The other room we had didn't smell as bad, so we hung out in there as much as we could.|The hotel came under new ownership on 7-1-24, so hopefully, they can get things under...
