Disappointing Stay at Courtyard Dallas DFW Airport North/Irving – Platinum Member Experience
As a Platinum Member, I understand that airport hotels often provide limited services, but I still expect certain basic amenities to be functional—especially those that were explicitly promised. Unfortunately, my stay was far from satisfactory due to three major issues.
First, the gym access that was promised was not provided. Before my stay, I received an email confirming that a shuttle service would be available to transport guests to a nearby gym. Since this is an important part of my routine, I verified the information upon check-in and even again the day before I planned to use the service. However, when I requested the shuttle, the staff member I spoke with said they had never heard of such an arrangement and that no shuttle existed. When I asked to speak with a manager, there was no manager available to address the issue. The lack of communication and failure to deliver a promised service was extremely disappointing.
Second, the Wi-Fi was completely non-functional throughout my stay—not just in the rooms, but even in the lobby. This is a major inconvenience, especially for business travelers who rely on a stable internet connection. After multiple complaints, I was finally able to speak with a manager who provided a temporary solution, but this should not have been necessary in the first place.
Third, the fridge in my room was broken, causing my food to spoil. A working fridge is a basic amenity that should be checked and maintained regularly, and this issue further added to the frustration of my stay.
The biggest issue here is the failure to deliver on promised services and the lack of communication among staff. If a hotel promises a gym shuttle, every employee should be aware of this service and ensure it is provided. Additionally, Wi-Fi should be a given at any modern hotel, especially one catering to business travelers.
That being said, the one highlight of my stay was the breakfast service. The staff was very kind and attentive, and the food was excellent—well above my expectations. It was the one aspect of my stay that stood out in a positive way.
For anyone who prioritizes fitness, reliable internet, or basic room functionality, I cannot recommend this location. If these issues are not addressed, I would strongly advise considering alternative accommodations.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to enhance the guest experience...
Read moreMy stay here was for two nights. I have traveled a lot for work and I know a quality hotel. I want to start off by saying I had my two year old son with me on this trip. It means a lot to me when things go right, as so many parents know out there they can go wrong very fast with a young child. My check in was very fast due to the reservation I had made. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant and concisely explained the wifi without having to be asked. The elevator was clean and always worked. The room was clean and exactly how it should have been. The air conditioner worked great. The mini fridge and microwave were a little small but I wasn't expecting them to be large. The king bed was very comfortable and was not lacking pillows. The shower had good water pressure and was consistently hot. The grounds are well maintained and you can tell they took pride in the experience of their customers. Every employee I came across was polite and smiled. When we went to the front desk to ask for towels we were asked if it was for the pool. I advised it was and she asked if the pool towels were out. I explained we hadn't been out to check. She said it wasn't a problem and would bring some out to us. When we got to the pool she was right behind us with our towels and a stack for everyone else. She even asked where we were sitting and put them on the chairs for us. The pool was a little over chlorinated but I would rather have too much than too little. On a side note the rooms were very quite. I don't know if it was due to our room being located on the top floor or if there weren't that many guest there with us. The room was advertised as sound proof so it lived up to its name especially with our proximity to the airport. We only ate at the bistro once for breakfast but the food and drink were spot on. I don't think I am over critical but I normally can point out a lack in service or standards. On this stay I could not find one thing wrong. I hope this review helps and your stay is a good...
Read moreI chose this hotel based on the superb reviews! Much to my dismay, my experience was quite the opposite. Although the lobby and lounge areas were lovely, the service was lacking to say the least by everyone I encountered with the exception of the Bistro workers. They were the only pleasant individuals I interacted during my 3 night stay. The unpleasantness started with the dry, unfriendly, “I hate my job attitude”, front desk woman at check in and was a downward spiral. My 6 year daughter and I were greeted by a large roach in the bathroom on the second morning of our stay. Doris in housekeeping, who happened to be outside our door cleaning an adjacent room, was kind enough to kill it for us as I was unequipped with bug spray or an old shoe. When I brought it to the attention of the front desk attendant she said it was probably just a water bug that might have entered from the bathtub drain. I corrected her and said no it was a roach and told her Doris killed it, her next reply was that perhaps we left the balcony door open for an extended time and it came from outdoors. First off, why would we leave the door open for hours when it is 100 degrees outside and not to mention we were on the 3rd floor. She never apologized and just continued with excuses. Next, I spent $40 feeding my 2 children each day only to find out that they offered all you can eat waffles for $6 and kids under 10 eat free. Why wasn’t I informed of this?! When I brought that up to the rude front desk woman her retort was that I should’ve been informed at check in. Of course, she was not concerned and seemed annoyed by my gripes. I could go on and on with other unpleasantries, but bottom line is I will never return to this...
