Checking in was very easy and staff was very friendly. The room its self was nice. The parking situation was poor. They have about 15 parking spots in the front of the building which are pretty well lit, but once those spots are taken you have to park in the back which is poorly lit and kind of scary. But the staff allowed me to park on the side of the building where they could see my car, which was nice. I did not have any issues until I checked out. When I checked in, they placed a hold for the amount of the 3 nights stay I was paying for which I was already expecting upon check-in. When I checked out at 2 am, I ended up with an additional 106 charged to my card. It was never told to me, nor was it on any paperwork that they would do this. After flying home and seeing the charge on my card, I immediately called the hotel to ask about they charge. They informed me that they charge was voided and it was up to my bank to release the funds back to my account. Here it is the third business day since my stay, and the original charge for my stay has already cleared and the 106 dollar charge is still pending in my account. I called my bank and they told me that the hotel still has a hold on the funds and they cannot release it until they do. I called the hotel, spoke with a lady who was a little rude when speaking to her, she told me there is nothing they can do since they voided it. She offered no extra help with it by calling their merchant or anybody else to figure out why my account still has this hold. She took down my information and told me the owner would call me once he came in. I immediately called customer service, and spoke with a foreign lady who was very nice, but told me there was nothing she could do and that I had to call the hotel to have them fix it, even though I had told her twice that I had just spoken to them. Finally, after hanging up with customer service, the owner calls me and explains that he is new management and he is unsure of why the hold is still their since in their system it is showing voided and that it can take 5-7 days to go back into my account. Why should I have to wait 5-7 days for money to go back into my account when it is money I never approved to be held in the first place. It was their error. He then told me that if I can have the bank call them then he could explain what happened and have the funds released. Why am I the one doing all the work to get my money back. I am a disabled Army veteran, and live on a fixed income, and have to budget my money every month. I was not expecting my account to be overdrafted because their system made an error. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and have never had an issue with billing. I will never stay in a Choice hotel ever again because once they get their money, they stop caring about you once...
Read moreMy family and I are Gold Choice hotel members and this is by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. The water in our bathroom quit working in both the shower/tub and toilet during our 3 night stay. I called the front desk and said maybe the pipes froze due to weather as we were an outer room. When the front desk staff came up to our room, it was implied something broke in the shower facet and the toilet was clogged by us, which was upsetting because they both quit working at the same time. They tried to move us into another room, but after turning the water on quickly realized this bathroom was not working properly either. They gave us a third room to try which had running water, but the room was dirty. There were yellow pee stains on the sheets, hair on the sheets, black soil or pest poop on top of one bed. One switch by the bathroom was not flush to the wall and had a hole underneath it. Random screw on the counter, debris on the floor, and more. The microwave & refrigerator both had black mold in them. The smell was so strong it could have knocked you over. We were not offered a new room beyond this third attempt, and we were told the room had been cleaned 2 weeks ago. Yes, 2 weeks ago. We requested new bedding, which after asking several times they agreed to. We requested the moldy microwave and refrigerator to be removed from the room as it was not sanitary and a safety concern, we were denied our request. After being in the new, dirty room for a little over 3 hours, my family could not take the moldy smell anymore. We did not feel safe. We loaded all our stuff and moved back into our original room with no working toilet or shower. If I wasn't traveling alone with my 2 minor children, I would have left the hotel. It was freezing weather and we were there for a volleyball tournament. All these problems and room switching went on from approximately 7:30pm at night to 1:30am in the morning. My kids and I did not get to bed until after 1:30am. I had to leave my minor children alone to use the bathroom in the a.m. Totally unacceptable. I asked to speak to the manager and was handed a cell phone. The manager on the phone would not let me talk and kept saying he did not understand what the problem was. He was extremely disrespectful to me. I should have been refunded for my stay. (The only person on staff tried to help as best as he could, but there was no housekeeping or maintenance on site --regardless we did not have a clean,...
Read moreI rented a room here as part of a wedding block. Called to make reservation and desk agent took all my information and gave me a confirmation number. When arriving at the hotel months later, I was informed that they didn't have my name for a reservation. After giving them my confirmation number, I was told they did have a reservation in their system for me, but that I had called earlier to "cancel my reservation due to other plans." This was blatantly false as I never called to cancel anything. I was then told that they did not have a credit card on file, so they may not have held my room. Problem is they never took my credit card information over the phone while booking, even after I specifically asked if they needed it. I was told I just needed my confirmation number and would pay upon arrival. Even if that is the case, it is poor work by the desk agent, and also does not seem to jive with their official reason in the system that I allegedly called to cancel of my own volition.
As this was unfolding, another couple arrived at the desk to check in and experienced the EXACT SAME ISSUE with the hotel. This to me shows that even if the hotel does not have a history of cancelling reservations on their guests without notifying them before arrival, they clearly have no problem with it now. I found it appalling that they would cancel the reservations of multiple guests with no notification, and then on top of that, lie in their system about the reason. Thankfully, after travelling for 8 hours and then dealing with this situation for another 20 minutes, they were able to find me one room they had still available in the place. The other couple in the same situation was not so lucky and did not get a room, leaving them stranded and on their own to find somewhere else to stay on short notice.
The room itself was fine, though a bit musty smelling. Breakfast bar was good for a 2-star hotel, and price was reasonable. Those are the only reasons this is not a 1 star review. I would not recommend this place to any travelers unless you are in an...
