I read a lot of reviews and defiantly take them into consideration when going to an establishment so I felt it was important to write this one. We looked for a camper for about 3 months, I was very picky about what I wanted, and also nervous this being our first camper and all. I did not want to look back and regret making such a big purchase. Trying to find a camper is not like trying to find a car, the salesmen are not so helpful and really don't seem to know enough about the products they are selling. So I started to do my own research and searching for what we wanted. I came upon a camper at McDowell, called and talked to Rick, got the information I needed and hung up. A few days later Rick calls me back (this never happens in the camping industry). Talks to me a little more about what I'm looking for and begins to tell me what he has and what he can get for me. To make a long story short, after countless emails, texts, phone calls we decided to make the trip down to see what they had. I didn't end up buying the camper I thought I wanted but found one on the lot that I fell in love with. Rick, Alan in Finance and Harry in the Service Department could not have been more patient or helpful with our first purchase. They took their time, went over everything, answered every question..make me feel very secure about what I was purchasing. The also had the best prices around which was a bonus! We have taken our camper out for the first time and I honestly didn't want to come home. We had a few kinks (every camper made now will, they just don't make them like they used to) but the service guys were more than willing to talk us through our issues and help us fix them. We are so happy we found this place and our next camper will most defiantly be from McDowell RV! P.S. We also stopped by McDowell RV in Bonne Terre on the way down and Blaine was extremely helpful in answering some of our RV questions, showing us different campers and explaining how they all worked. He wasn't pushy at all and he really knows his stuff!! We love the...
Read moreTheir service dept lies. It's routine with them. They don't want to work on my leveling system, probably because they can't, so they come up with ways to tell me they can't work on it today. Maybe a dead battery or an after market surge protector they say is now broken. Of course I couldn't tell that because they disassembled it into the floor. Later I remembered it did not need the 110 system, the leveling system works completely off the 12v battery, which was new. They never called before they took the system apart. Then when I asked them to bypass the surge protector to check the leveling system, the technician refused. He said he didn't work on after market equipment. But, he already had by disassembling it and had offered to replace the surge protector for $300 for the part plus labor. Tomorrow I'm taking my unit to the certified electrician who installed the surge protector. I've little doubt it will work fine unless their tech intensionally broke it. My electrician says he will be able to tell if they've done that. If they have this will turn into a legal issue. McDowell South RV seems to like to do this to people who have to travel from a greater distance. They've lied to my son about a black water tank valve. They told him they had tested the valve. When he got home to St. Peters, MO, it was still in the same condition. People who lie like they do should be ashamed. They don't do the work and say they have, they find excuses to not do the work after I've traveled 85 miles to get there, towing a camper. Don't use their service dept. It took me a few trips to work it out that I couldn't trust these people or even push them into being honest. Avoid McDowell South RV...
Read moreBeware...if you need repairs to your camper and you want it back before the end of camping season, take it somewhere else. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We contacted them Memorial Day weekend 2017 to do repairs to our camper. We were told the work could be completed by July 4th. After multiple calls to the Service Dept Managers and even the owner of the company, they finally completed the work and we picked up our camper today, December 16. Took them over 6 months to complete the work. Their customer service is horrible and they have no problem lying to you or blaming each other for their incompetent behavior. We even requested the owner, Kyle be available when we picked up our camper today and he was no where to be found, typical of his customer service. We are telling everyone we know that camps to be aware of...
