My fiancé and I returned home from a three-night stay at the Sinclair Inn from August 9, 2021 through August 12, 2021. Of all the hotels, cottages, resorts, etc. I have ever vacationed at; the Sinclair Inn has to be my favorite yet.
When we arrived on Monday afternoon, we were greeted by one of the Inn Keepers, Dan. Dan was very welcoming and upon our arrival, showed us around the Inn and to our room. Dan pointed out the most picturesque yard that is so beautifully landscaped with wild flowers and even a small water feature, a charming front porch, two common areas filled with books and games and a dining area where you can find the most delicious afternoon (or anytime) sweets. When Dan showed us to our room (room three) he showed us to the second floor common room with a fridge that stored waters and sodas as well as a Keurig machine all for the guests use. This area was so wonderful and convenient to have during our stay as we stored wine, cheese and crackers for an afternoon snack when we returned from our activities. Additionally, it was so nice to be able to have a cup of coffee or tea in the afternoon or before bed. Most hotels do include a coffee maker and mini fridge but I avoid both at all costs due to germs. At the Sinclair I did not feel that way at all as Dan and Tom (the Inn Keepers) keep every inch of the Inn immaculate.
Our room at the Inn was wonderful. Room three is on the second floor towards the front of the house overlooking the main street as well as the side yard. The room was very clean and spacious. Our bathroom was also very neat and clean. The room had blackout blinds that made for a wonderful night sleep and the king size bed was very comfortable. We also had two cozy robes and two pairs of slippers that were perfect for lounging in our room.
My fiancé and I both agreed that our favorite part about staying at the Inn was the breakfast. Dan and Tom are truly on another level when it comes to cooking and baking. Each morning the meals that were presented were like something on a cooking show but better! The presentation, the taste, the creativity and love that you can tell goes into these meals were unlike anything I have ever seen/tasted before. Upon our arrival on Monday, Dan asked if we had any dietary restrictions and I do not eat pork or beef and Dan and Tom so graciously accommodated my particular needs. I am so grateful for their thoughtfulness and willingness to go that extra mile for me. Dan and Tom’s cooking has to be the best in Vermont if not the best I have had before. Of all the meals my fiancé and I had outside of the Sinclair, we both agreed that Dan and Tom’s was the best. The cherry on top of the wonderful breakfast was the wonderful baked goods that were always available in the dining room. I love to have a sweet with my coffee at night or in the afternoon and there was always something new and fresh waiting.
Overall the attention to detail and hospitality were off the charts. Dan and Tom have truly thought of everything and anything a guest could want from an Inn or vacation in general. If you forgot something, they had it. A chocolate on your pillow at night? No, but they had a candy dish full of local Vermont chocolates at your bedside. I could go on and on about the wonderful stay we had. The Sinclair Inn was truly better than my fiancé and I could have wished for from our stay in Vermont. We cannot wait to return to the Sinclair Inn and experience Dan and Tom’s wonderful hospitality again.
One last note… In the Guest Book, a guest recommended Dan and Tom create a cookbook. I would also like to say please create a cookbook and I will be first in line to buy it! Also, maybe Dan and Tom can offer a cooking experience because that is my favorite thing to do and if I could take away any of the creativity that comes from your kitchen I would...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I just spent three glorious days at this charming Vermont Inn, and I can't say enough good things about our experience. The new owners (new by about 2 months) Tom and Dan are absolutely terrific hosts, and took care of us from the minute we stepped on the premises to the moment we left! They provided us with a coupon for discounted ticket prices at the Shelburne museum, and were always willing to make suggestions/reservations for dinner/things to do in the area.
The breakfasts here are heavenly (Dan is an amazing chef!), and set you up for a good day of exploring all that beautiful northern Vermont has to offer! Our three morning breakfasts started with blueberry pancake poppers, eggs benedict with potatoes, and a hearty frittata filled with veggies, thick ham, and succulent cheeses ...and these dishes all came AFTER a fresh fruit plate and warmed biscuits which were also served! An abundance of juice, coffee and tea is served throughout breakfast as well! No fear of going hungry here!!
We stayed in Room 4 at the Inn, however upon arrival we had the option to move to one of the larger rooms due to lack of occupancy on the weekend we were there. While all of the rooms in the Inn are charming, we decided to stay with our original choice being the cozy pale green room, complete with a spacious and well lit bathroom and authentic stained glass window! The windows have black out curtains in addition to regular draw string shades, which helped in the morning! The Inn is somewhat close to the road, and with our room being in the front of the house I could hear some traffic falling asleep. It wasn't an issue for me, but should be kept in mind for any light sleepers out there! The bed is super comfortable and we both woke up each morning feeling revitalized and ready to tackle the day.
The attention to detail throughout the entire Inn is unbelievable! The downstairs living room(s) are cozy, comfortable, and well furnished, and I found myself feeling as though I was staying at a friends house rather than paying for a room at a B&B. Every night there were delectable savory desserts made by master chef/baker Dan, to which my boyfriends sweet tooth greatly appreciated. Pumpkin spice cookies, brownies, oatmeal cookies, and pumpkin pie were on the menu, and we sampled some of each (all of them amazing!). We were even encouraged to take a doggie bag with us in the morning to keep us going throughout the day (we didn't need much convincing....). In addition to the baked goods, individualized mint chocolate squares were placed on our pillows EVERY single night, which gave the Inn a high-class feel I wasn't expecting. The rooms were always impeccably clean and fresh, and our lights were turned on in the evening when we would be returning late from our daily adventures, adding to the cozy vibe. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we are so happy to have found such a remarkable place to spend some time in!
Despite the less than stellar weather conditions during our stay, our visit overall was terrific, and was only made possible by the wonderful hosts Dan and Tom and their beautiful Inn. It is only a short drive from downtown Burlington (about 20/25 minutes), and was the perfect mini-vacation spot to recharge before the crazed holiday months begins! We will most certainly stay here again should we ever find ourselves in northern Vermont, and you should stay here too! You will not be...
Read moreFriendly and helpful service, comfortable, clean room and great breakfasts made our stay among the best ever. We like B & Bs especially in older houses & this was a nice Queen Anne Victorian. Our room had a queen bed and a comfy chair among the furnishings. The bathroom made use of the small space efficiently. The shower was small & the only thing the owners might want to consider is adding a hand held shower instead of the fixed shower head which would be a blessing for short people. Kuereg coffee machine available anytime, convenient for second floor guests, water and canned sodas too. The freshly baked bars & cookies were available in the afternoon & evening. |For breakfast there were ample selections, 2 types of quiches, vegetarian or ham & cheese. They were delicious as were the pancakes, breads and granola. Eggs, cheese, meats, flour and fruits were local. Strawberries, blueberries, whole fruits and juice also came with the breakfast, coffee and an assortment of teas. The Victorian house is well maintained, the dining room had a large table and several small tables for 2 so you could choose your preferred seating. The tables were set with china and glassware etc. nothing disposable. Your view might include the mountains in the distance and or a garden in full bloom. |It took about 20 minutes to get into Burlington but it’s a pleasant drive. Went to Stowe which was about 25 minutes away. We stayed 2 nights but could have stayed longer! |The family running the Sinclair Inn are young, hardworking and providing a really...
