The Waterfront on Glacier is a newly remodeled hotel. The staff is amazing! Kind, helpful, and strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. While not having an elevator, they do have complete disability access to the 2nd floor and will have similar access to the 1st in the near future. It's September 2024 right now, and while open not all floors are finished being remodeled, as they are still working on the 1st floor. There is also easy access to the main road with destination very nearby.
The rooms are each unique in that every shelf and countertop are beautifully hand crafted, so no 2 shelves are the same exactly. This is a suite hotel for people who are looking to stay for weeks or longer at a time. They have a two burner induction stove top, a midsize fridge, and plenty of countertop space in both the kitchenette and bathroom. The sink faucet has a moveable handle with dual function output, regular or spray.
Hardwood floors in the main area with tiling in the bathroom. A beautiful walk-in shower. Very good lighting in all areas, even when shade is down, there doesn't seem to be one spot in all of the room in shadow or darkness. There is also a deck for the 2nd and 3rd floors.
All of those pros of why you should stay here, I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't list the very, very few cons. There are only 2 cons that I can think of. 1st, is that the hotel is obviously an older building frame, I so while the interior is immaculate, the soundproofing between rooms and floors is not quite great. But at the same time, not paper thin either. 2nd, is that the room thermostats don't have a cooling option, just heat or off. But do remember, this is Alaska, so a lot of buildings don't carry AC. Then there's also the fact that if you're feeling too hot, they do have portable fans available.
Oh, right, I forgot to mention that the beds are extremely comfortable.
Overall, if you're coming to Juneau, you definitely should give this place a try if you're in need of long...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for 2 nights prior to boarding our cruise ship. The host, Rick, was extremely helpful, very friendly & accommodating. The newly reno'd rooms have an esthetic in keeping with the rustic Alaskan vibe w. all the live edge headboards, countertops & tables. Beds were exceedingly comfy. All the upscale linens are 100% cotton and Oeko Tex certified (sorry, but I'm a textile geek!). The efficiency style kitchenettes feature a mid-size fridge, 2 burner induction cooktop, microwave, S/S sink & upscale coffeemaker. Location is so-so if you want to be near any restaurants, it's about a 3/4 mi. walk to downtown on safe sidewalks with marked crossings. My main issue is noise levels. The doors are super thin. Our king waterfront room had an adjoining room and we could hear every word that the guests next to us were saying beginning with their over hour-long conference call that began at 6 a.m. :-/. Please be advised that there is NO A/C here!! So at one point it was 83° in our room. Luckily we could open the windows to cool off. But the king room on the 2nd night there were NO SCREENS on the windows. Regarding cleanliness, the LVT floors had some debris and crumbs on them, but otherwise everything else was very clean. The restaurant and bar have great views and once the renovations are complete, this will be an upscale venue. I wish them...
Read moreFive stars for Zac the GM, one star for amenities. For a price of $300+ a night during off season, you’d expect an elevator to the upper floor, a luggage rack, breakfast option as advertised, a simple do not disturb decal, basic toiletries like emery boards or a shower cap, door keys that don’t go unsensitized every other use, two double bed rooms next to each other as reserved and room cleaning after you specifically ask to skip only one day. Well, don’t… because we had none of these. The hotel was empty but we were placed in two separate rooms far away from each other because we needed 4 beds. The rooms have kitchens which give you the opportunity to bring in your own food but when we made the reservations we liked the fact that breakfast was available. When arrived, we were told that the kitchen and the dining room area were being renovated. Oh and, you can hear everything said next door if people speak with their conversational voices. The walls are paper thin. The location was ok but we were charged water view rooms even though our rooms faced the mountains. It’s a place that we would not go back...
