Craft's Lakeview Lane — Hotel in Kelleys Island

Not impressed at all. We were very surprised and disappointed as the reviews would lead you to expect otherwise. We reserved Unit 5. The place looks like it has been used and never to really maintenance or updated. Smells musky and for good reason. Mold and water damage was present on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms. Upon further inspection, in the unfinished basement there was mold below the bathroom/kitchen areas. The unfinished basement also lacked proper insulation had no vapor barrier. The unit had central AC unit but it did not work. This looks like it's been an ongoing issue as they also had two window units, one in each level, for air conditioning. From the looks of it, they had both been in place for a while. Cardboard was used to section the inside and outside of the house for the window unit in the lower level. The refrigerator did not get cold although the freezer worked very well. Quite a few kitchen cabinets did not have doors or drawers. the cottages were filthy. we rented two of them for our stay. for starters, there was black mold in the showers and on the shower curtain. it was very obvious the floors had not been mopped in a very long time. we had a toddler with us and her feet were black from walking barefoot in the cottage. there is a distinct musty smell in the cottages. there was food crumbs and dirt underneath the couch cushions. we tried politely mentioning the black mold issue to an employee, and for the rest of the trip every encounter with the owner and/or employees was very unprofessional and unpleasant. the reviews for these cottages are very misleading. they are far too expensive for how dirty and...

There have been no updates to this place whatsoever since probably the 1970s. Musty smelling and dirty. The windows look like they haven’t been cleaned in decades. Critters lived with us during our stay including a mouse that resides in the kitchen and bathroom. We also woke up to a SNAKE IN OUR BED!!!
