San Way Ve Motel — Hotel in Kenmare

We called from a few hours away to find a place to stay while on a long road trip. The first phone conversation was enough to make us call back and book the room. I usually call several places before booking since you can tell a lot about a motel by the way an inquiry is handled.||||Mike (owner) was very cheerful, pleasant and funny. He said that his motel was the best in town and that we could have the "presidential suite" so we had to take it! Their sign is exactly as viewed on this site. Although the building looks old on the outside, rooms have been renovated and are very clean. Beds were very comfortable too! Homemade pastries and coffee for breakfast.||||Since we had never been in town before, we asked for suggestions about where to eat and get a drink. Mike said there were two within walking distance. He offered to take us, but since we'd been driving all day, we chose to walk. If we didn't want to walk back, we could call for a ride. Mike said he would be glad to pick us up. Walking around Kenmare the last time I had been there, I noticed this motel - it is not on Hwy 52, so you wouldn't see it just driving through. Looks like a classic Mom & Pop place, showing it's age a bit but still looking cared-for. Determined to stay there next time through. I was very impressed by the room. Painstakingly updated with pine paneling, very new (and spotless) bathroom fixtures and flooring, tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable as could be, and I loved the fact that I could open the window to let pleasant outside air in. A most pleasant stay at a price well below that at the more conventional, newer hotel along...

I want to sing about this motel; it is a really good find. It is in a cute little village and used by a lot with oil workers but not over priced. The motel itself is not modern, but the rooms are really clean, really cosy and have great facilities like a fridge, microwave, cable and good wifi. There is plenty of parking. There is a good pub near by called Beer Bobs, where you can have a drink, eat and play darts. The owners are really lovely.

Just put your "do not disturb" sign on the door if you are staying later, as the cleaners...
