If this place had a tag line, it would be “misleading pictures and empty promises”. If you have low to moderate expectations and need somewhere to park your rig or pitch your tent for an overnight, this place will do. It’s better than parking at a rest stop overnight, but not by a lot. The folks who run it are lovely, but everything just seems like it’s a stiff wind from falling down. The pool could be used as a set for a summer camp for wayward youths; it’s run down and cloudy with weeds poking up throughout the concrete, replete with shoddy concrete patch jobs and poorly rigged livestock fencing, and is weirdly slippery. The wading pool, which can’t be more than a couple hundred gallons, is also cloudy and should have a sign requiring guests to have up-to-date tetanus shots. The game room is depressing, with a distinct “Flowers in the Attic” vibe where nothing works properly and everything is peeling or decaying. Oh, and there’s no AC. The playground is acceptable, but I still can’t figure out what was going on with the weird leaning gazebo next to it. Even the entry to the building leaves guests confused. Don’t try to enter through the door on the right. That’s apparently just a storage facility. No, you enter through the laundry room and go through an unmarked door to the office.
The grounds were clean and seemed safe, but were a disappointing departure from typical KOA amenities...
Read moreWe have been staying at campgrounds from California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. This one was one of the most expensive and it didn’t deliver. $85 for a rundown spot that didn’t meet KOA standards. We have stayed at a few KOA’s now and I was considering applying for their rewards program…they are more expensive than other places but they consistently deliver. This place needs maintenance. Weeds growing all over the dingy pool area, the kids wading pool wasn’t in operation, the laundry was more expensive than any other campground that we have stayed at and the facilities were lame. If it was priced at 45$ then maybe it would have been fine, but not for $85 and not for being a “KOA” campground. Should have stayed at the campground in Presho or Chamberlain. Nice people who own it - but they either need to lower the price or hire an extra hand to maintain the grounds. Money is definitely coming in, there just isn’t any being invested back into...
Read moreThe most expensive KOA so far and the worst so far! Poorly maintained grounds, most facilities were closed “due to covid” and the only thing going for this KOA -the pool- was closed to campers, again, “due to Covid”. We have stayed in 12 KOA’s campgrounds for the past month and this one is really bad. All other KOA’s we’ve stayed in maintained the pool and laundry facilities open but this one chose to close most likely to avoid the daily maintenance more so than covid guidelines.
The camping space was also very poorly maintained with uneven grounds and lots of mosquitoes! the picnic table was scary! 2 sides were on the ground while the other 2 seem to be floating and gave the effect of a seesaw that when not paying attention gave you a small scare of falling down.
Overall, I would not stay...
