Texas Hunt Lodge — Hotel in Kerrville

Very rarely do I feel the need to write a review for a business just for doing what they charge to do and we pay for as customers . However, this place was definitely the exception and I felt the need to write about the extraordinary experience Texas Hunt Lodge provided to me and my son during our recent hunt which was the second time we ever went hunting. It started when I called and spoke to Jordan, asking questions and getting pricing for our trip. He was very helpful and made that process so easy, answering any question I had no matter how stupid a couple of them probably were. On arrival we pulled up to a beautiful lodge and were greeted by our guide Jake and met Jordan as well as the owner Aaron. We were shown to a beautifully decorated and very comfortable room. After depositing our things we went to the main lodge and had a drink, then took care of the permits etc which Jordon made easy quick work of. Lisa, the cook, came out with a tasty cheese/ meat board and crackers which was delicious. We felt very welcomed and instantly part of the group. During our hunt, our guide Jake was just incredible with both me and my son which I greatly appreciated. I can’t speak highly enough of him and his wealth of knowledge which he was happy to share. We thoroughly enjoyed every second of our time with Jake and did not want it to end. I can’t thank you enough Jake for making this experience one of the greatest Father/Son memories we will have and I promise it will definitely be repeated with you as our guide again either there in Texas or in Africa like we spoke about. I couldn’t imagine having anyone better to hunt with! I sincerely thank you Jake! Breakfast, lunch and dinner was cooked by Lisa and it was absolutely incredible. Some meals were with wild game and every bit of amazing. She is a kind, genuine woman and we appreciated all her hard work in the kitchen and the delicious meals she made for us. My son can’t stop talking about her Elk Meatloaf and neither can I honestly! Just wow. Thank you Lisa! One night after hunting I had the opportunity to spend some time with and share some great conversation with Aaron about the lodge and hunting there in Texas as well as Africa. There were many pictures around with him and his hunting experience all over the world and the stories that went along with them I truly enjoyed hearing. Thanks for taking the time to share a drink and some great conversation Aaron. It was a pleasure! Once our time was done, all the details were wrapped up and settled with Jordon who was so helpful with answering my taxidermy questions and again made quick work of the paperwork. This place and everyone in it are amazing people and my only regret is that it ended and we have to wait to return. Which we definitely will be doing! Thank you...

Five stars are not enough! We would really have to give 10+! We just got back from an awesome hunt with Texas Hunt Lodge! We have done a lot of hunting over the years and have never done this type of hunt before and didn’t know what to expect. Our guide, Justin, was waiting on the porch to greet us when we pulled in. We felt welcome and at home immediately. The accommodations are excellent! Richard is an amazing chef and we even “dragged” him out of bed for a super early breakfast one morning just to be out hunting at sunrise and he was happy to accommodate. We were served many meals of different wild game and all were excellent. Justin is an amazing guide and was put to the test in finding a wildebeest that didn’t want to be found! Justin is patient and makes sure you have the shot that’s right for you with no pressure. This was our sons first hunting trip other than on and off hunting with us at home, he had no experience hunting anything other than deer. Justin made sure our son had the shot he needed, took his time, and walked him through it. Justin has a great sense of humor and although we came in as just another group of clients, we left having made a new friend. Everyone that works at the lodge are super folks and enjoyed great conversation when not out hunting. Jordan was excellent in setting up the hunt including follow up the week prior to our arriving to confirm our arrival time. When it came time to get our license and paperwork taken care, including the taxidermy he was “all over it”. Aaron makes sure to stop in at camp and takes the time to meet his clients and get to know them as well and is super concerned that everything is going well and if there’s anything you need. The meat market folks they work with are great as well, making sure we had everything taken care of before we left including having some of the meat ready for us to take along home. All of the staff make you feel welcome and at home. Not once did we ever feel unwelcome while we were there and we would recommend Texas Hunt Lodge to anyone in a heartbeat and plan on making a return trip. Aaron, Jordan, Jake, and Vickus and all at the Texas Hunt Lodge, You guys are top notch on top of having great animals and accommodations - we had a great time just hanging out and getting to know everyone at the Lodge. Within 10 minutes of walking in the door at the Lodge - we felt very welcomed and treated like family. Between the great food that Mrs. Lisa prepared - which was oryx, nilguy, and amazing meals each time we sat down There were 4 of us - with me and my 3 boys and again we were treated so great and the guides (Jake and Vickus) were so good and patient with the boys. We harvested a huge buffalo, beautiful red stag, great looking whitetail, and an awesome oryx. I am returning next week to get my monster elk - we just ran out of time to get it in one weekend trip. Jake and Vickus constantly were working to make sure we were well prepared and kept us in the loop on their gameplans. We had some bad weather and they were even on top of that - we worked through it. I have never been around guides in the field that were so knowledgable of hunting, the animals, different tactics to take, and still making sure we were all having a good time. Back at the lodge - a great time was had every night between great food/drink/conversation and even getting to add in the "south african snuff snort". Aaron the owner is around and always checking on everybody making sure that you are having a good time. Jordan runs the place for Aaron and was there every night we came in from hunting - wanting to make sure everything went well..... The guides that we didn't even hunt with - Mark and Justin all would ask how we did and wanting to know how the boys did with their hunt. It is hard to find really good people nowadays - but if you go to the Texas Hunt Lodge - that is all you are surrounded by is "good people" - they all want to make sure you are having a good time - they have great animals to hunt and excellent accommodations. We are already trying to plan our return trip. Thanks again to all the people at the Texas...
