We were in quite a bind when our chalet we rented screwed up our reservation and shorted us a day. We have four days to find a place to stay with our two dogs for one night during December. Not a good thing. Many places required a two night reservation even though we were looking for just a Saturday and it was less than a week before. This place was perfectly willing to do just one night and only charged us $15 for bringing the dogs. We read the reviews which worried us but we didn't have alot of choice. It is definitely old, I don't think they have replaced anything in the last twenty years. All in all it was clean, except for the carpet which we wore our socks on (no bare feet) and tried to keep the dogs on the bed so they weren't laying on the floor. We folded down the comforter and only used the sheets and blanket. The heating system is strange, in the wall, up high and we had to climb on a chair to change the settings but it kept the place warm. It had a nice view from the back and the river really is right there. Big covered area along the back that we accessed from our sliding glass door. Guy at the front desk was nice and they had a nice cat that used to be a stray around the place. Oddly, no ice machine. The parking lot never got plowed so it was very wet and mushy. The bed was not the most comfortable but we have had worse and we are pretty spoiled with our split King Sleep Number at home. It had a nice area if you wanted to cook that had a full fridge, small stove, sink, cabinet, and counter. Some plates and utensils. The shower was not as bad as the reviews led us to believe. Nothing fancy but adequate. My husband said he had to sit sideways on the toilet due to room but I didn't have any problems. Kind of noisy with the road right there and people were coming home from downtown after 9pm and had no courtesy to keep the noise down as they walked past. Coffee in lobby was good and ready early. All in all not a place we would purposely choose but better than expected and not bad if you are in a bind. It is kind of spendy for what you get but it is during December so I am sure all the places raise...
Read moreThis was our 3rd visit to this lodge. On previous two visits, we gave a "4" rating because the rooms were clean, the view of the river was great, and the pool was very refreshing. We stayed both times for an internet special of $69 a night (which was very reasonable). We booked our visit this year with the same internet special of $69. When we arrived, the new manager told us they do not honor the internet special anymore. Because we came specifically to see three plays of the Leavenworth Summer Theater, we had to pay the inflated price of $89 a night. We thought they should have honored the agreed on price! The pool was empty and looked terrible as well as the surrounding grounds. (Previously there were lots and lots of wild flowers all over the property). The rooms were very old and sub-standard. Our room had large rips in the carpet, rust in the vents and chips in the kitchen counter. The only saving grace for this stay was the beautiful view of the river. Except for the failure to honor the original quoted price when we booked the room, the staff was friendly and provided needed items and service as requested. WE DO NOT PLAN TO STAY THERE AGAIN ON...
Read moreAmazing owners, we had gotten a ton of snow while staying and couldn't get up the hill to the main road since our car only had 2-wheel drive. One of the owners was super nice and offered to drive us to town and pick us up. I haven't ever had as much hospitality at a hotel/motel in my life! The room we stayed in was a nice little room with a fake fireplace, table and chairs, closet, microwave, mini fridge, tv, a nice bathroom, and an amazing bed. The heater is amazing especially with how cold it was lol. The table is a nice touch for all our Christmas gift wrapping. The fake fireplace gives it an at home feel, same with the closet, microwave, and mini fridge. The bed had gorgeous blankets and very comfy pillows. The view from the window of the river is stunning. Just down the hall there's a vending machine, and ice machine which is nice for when we don't want to run into town for drinks. In the morning they served coffee and cookies. The location is amazing, right by the river and not to far from downtown. Luckily its not even 2 minutes from a Safeway just in case. If I stay the night again in Leavenworth I will...
