I honestly thought about saying I would give this facility less than one star, but the truth is, I want to be objective and not allow personal feelings to lead my review to be a grumble fest. I do however find it important to let others know how terribly treated we were by the supervisor/and or owner and overall unforgiving policies within the organization. I'll start with the positive and later end on a positive, I like to see the glass half full. When we began our process to reserve our site over the phone, the employee we spoke with was super sweet and extremely helpful and polite. Awesome, we were on our way to staying at a really nice campground that offers pretty decent pricing...We arrived around 10:55 PM ready to set up and crash from a long day of work and travel. One more positive before I head into the negative and warning to others. The host who was watching the gate and check-in's that night was really awesome. They patiently and kindly attempted to get us checked in when we arrived when it was right before their time to leave for the night and lock up. They then went above and beyond for us when we discovered our vehicle registration was not even yet 24 hours overdue(expired 9/19-we arrived 10/1/19 at 10:55 PM), and she called her supervisor/and or the owner to ask if there was any way we could stay the night and take care of our registration concerns in the morning...well...from this experience I'm led to believe there is absolutely no grace period from those who hold the higher ranks within the organization. I would also like to add, the entire reason we were even paying to stay somewhere was because we own a pet and wanted the electric to be able to keep them cool You may expect that I would next say they were reasonable and considerate and allowed us to stay since it was the end of the night and our registration was literally not even 24 hours overdue, but no...when the host called the supervisor/ and or owner they were firmly told no, with no discussion further. I don't at all believe the park to be unreasonable in requiring an up to date registration to your vehicle, this is not a part of my dissatisfaction. It's the fact that they were so unreasonable and felt the right thing to do was throw two people and a pet out onto the street(honestly, where were we going to be able to book a place to plug in at 11 PM). I commend the host that evening as they should not have been put in the position to turn someone away like that, they felt so badly and it was not their fault, they were doing their job and following the instructions of their supervisor/ and or the owner. And if the park had asked and required we take the vehicle immediately the next day to acquire our up-to-date registration, we would have happily and understandingly done so. To add insult to injury we were contacted the next day by the park asking if we had any further questions needing answered from our email inquiry the previous day before we reserved the spot, and they never once apologized for our being turned away the night before(even if they had said they needed to stick to the policy strictly, but they were at least sorry, that would have counted for something). So all in all, I don't see ourselves ever considering to reserve here again, there is at least one other beautiful and reasonably priced park near by. However, I'm not necessarily going to deter others from staying, since there are very polite and caring staff who work there, despite the decisions of others, and the park itself is really nice, and the price isn't bad either. I just want to warn others to make sure you have "EVERYTHING!!!!!!" in order and in accordance to their policies perfectly, there doesn't seem to be any grace within their rules. Thank you to those who were helpful at Lake...

Update: 2nd time around two years later and my experience was much better though it started a bit worrisome. They had me in 48 which I tried, but my electrical cord, though quite long, wouldn't reach the meter. So I went to the office and was put on 2. Well, the water wouldn't turn on. So, back to office I went. Unfortunately, they had a water issue and that section had been turned off. So, she had me drive around and look for a spot that would work. First empty spot was 30 so went to office and luckily that spot was free for the next 4 nights. It was a water & electric only back in spot looking onto the lake. I enjoyed a few great sunrises. At the back bathhouse the showers are ok. The water spews from the spout kind of pelting you. But there's hot water so good enough. I found out though, as I was leaving I checked out the front bathhouse and it's definitely in better shape then the ones in back but the showers though the shower heads are nicer, they are less private as there is openings next to the wall to the neighboring shower. They have a laundry area and the wi-fi worked pretty good this time. It didn't reach the back area I was in last time. I gad to extend my stay a night due to the extreme high winds in Amarillo so I had to move to spot 36. That was nice too everything still reached and wi-fi still worked well. On my way out used the easily accessible dump station. I would definitely stay again.

I stayed in spot 83. They are doing some upgrades to the electrical so half the spots are not available. I was lucky enough to get a spot for a few nights and the price is right. Seniors it's even a better rate. The spot I was in was narrow but because it's in the back on the end there is lots of space around it. The wi-fi is hit or miss it may be better in a spot closer to the office. Most nights it was non-existent. I had to use my hot spot. The staff is very friendly. The bathrooms need some updating and are extremely hot (at least in the back area). The shower I used was more like a power washer you will be clean. There are no sewer hook-ups but the dump station is spacious and has a few hook-up areas so more than one person can use the area at a time. They also have an area there to recycle paper, plastic and aluminum cans so that is really nice. They do have a laundry area on site; however, I didn't visit it. When I arrived on Sunday, the Walleye Picnic Area across the street was hopping. Lots of commotion and loud music thumping. And the road was full of cruisers. However once it got dark it quieted right down. I did hear that it's like that some weekends so you may want to prepare yourself for that. I did hear the music while inside my RV but again spot 83 is close to this area. The sunrises are gorgeous. And very worth staying here. Sunsets too. The location is great as well close to everything you may need. I would come back again. Note, the do lock the gates at night from 11pm - 6am. So, you do have a curfew while staying here. There is a huge issue with people trying to come through the campground to get to the lake. So, the staff has to stand guard at the gate turning them around even though there are clearly marked signs stating there...

Like many other reviews on here I found the staff to be confrontational and rude. They wouldn't let me stay in the park because they said my tabs were expired. They weren't expired! My registration is up to date. My Disabled American Veteran licence plates just hadn't arrived yet.

The law enforcement official (I think he was some sort of park ranger or gate gurad) bragged to his other two colleagues, and to me, about how he could write me a ticket on the spot. The law enforcement official was persistent and aggressive to the point that I felt threatened and intimidated. He backed off with the threats only after he realized I knew my rights and the legal system. I explained to him that the ticket he so graciously offered would not be convicted because the judge would be able to see my current registration. He not only agreed, but later admitted that the judge would be fairly upset that the ticket was even written.

The only opportunity they gave me to stay in the park was if I had a receipt showing that I paid for my tabs. I explained again that I am receiving Disabled American Veteran plates, in which there is no charge and hence no receipt. I was especially confused by this offer because the law enforcement official had mentioned earlier that he could have ran the plates to see if they were current. A receipt would be sufficient, but not the actual report from my state licensing agency?...

Three employees of the City of Lewisville turned away a disabled veteran, on a literally freezing night. And these individuals will probably thank a veteran for their service when it's convenient for them.

You'll find small hearts and...

UPDATE 5/27 - Spent the week here once more for Memorial Day weekend and low and behold they were enforcing a lot of their ordinances. Even their website had been updated with notices of what will not be tolerated, loud music is now on the list. Yipee. So I upgraded my overall rating to a 4. As stated below, if they had full hookups at each site, they would get a 5 rating. ------------ Nice. Campground and staff are quite friendly. Park host was driving his golf cart around and visiting with most RV’ers. Some sites are spacious and others are stacked next to each other. The biggest drawback is the day park. It is an EXTREMELY busy "day" park, especially on the weekends, which in and of itself is not the bad part. The bad part is you have to listen to Spanish or rap music reverberating across the water from 1/2 mile away on most evenings and on the weekends. Lewisville has a noise ordinance but doesn’t appear to be enforced. Sometimes it’s so loud I cannot hear the people I’m talking to on the phone or when watching TV. Strange thing is the park ranger lives in the park and his RV must really have good insulation cause you’d think he would shut that stuff down. You will love the park if you like Spanish or rap music and you want to have a personal DJ. The park has water and electric hookups and has a dump station within the campground. I give 5 stars for location, 4 stars on service (would give 5 if they had hookups for sewage at the site), and 3 stars overall due to loud music that is not being enforced.

A great RV park adjacent to Lewisville Lake. A city of Lewisville owned and managed park. Really inexpensive to stay there, either one night or up to 29 days. It really could use some cleaning and maintenance done on the property. Photo's show men's shower up by the office and laundry area, and one of the picnic tables at one of the "premium" spots. Both require an up to date tetanus inoculation. The city should raise the camping fee a couple of dollars to help defray the cost. We stayed in a motorhome and would gladly stay there again, even if they raised the camping fee's.
