First off, it was my mistake for trying to save $20 and just booking here thinking “oh I just need a bed for the night doesn’t need to be nice” since I had a 24 hour layover in Chicago. Their website promises stuff they do not offer such as shuttle service from the airport, which I found out after I already booked and landed in the airport. Once I show up, the service is just crap. They can try to be nice but it doesn’t seem like anyone knows what they’re doing and they have very little patience dealing with guests. They offered a “continental breakfast” and once I asked about it I was told “yeah just coffee and some cereal” even after all of this I accepted the fact that it was a cheap stay and just decided I wanted to sleep and get out in the morning, but I walk through the halls to my room and it absolutely wreaks of cigarettes and there are an ungodly amount of stains. I was hoping it wouldn’t be affecting my room and once I get to my room I was so very wrong. The room smelt like a freaking ashtray. My wife was in tears by how uncomfortable she was there, especially with her asthma it was such a safety hazard even being there. Both of us didn’t even want to sit on the bed which was hard as a rock and the room felt so unsanitary. Couldn’t even use the shower due to all the stains that worried us. We didn’t even spend more than 20 minutes there when we decided we needed to leave. I booked this place through Expedia and was working with them to relocate, but the people at this place strong armed Expedia and refused any kind of refund even after stating the unsafe and unsanitary conditions. They did offer us a different room! BUT when we asked if it would still smell like smoke was told “I wouldn’t know” and they essentially said everywhere smells like smoke after they tried to gaslight us by saying “well if your sense of smell is picking up something that’s on you, we don’t believe there was any smells there”. We ended up walking 10 minutes down the street to Quality Inn and THANK GOD we did because the instant relief of leaving that headache inducing piece of trash called O’hare inn and suites was very needed. I ended up spending double what I had planned on for the night just to sleep somewhere but this place is absolutely unbearable to stay at. On top of my wife having trouble breathing here even my nose and eyes were burning just from standing in the room. I beg any of you looking at a quick and cheap stay near the airport not to stay here! This is the worst option out there. I paid around $60 for the night, after this experience I wouldn’t stay here if it was free. Actually they couldn’t even pay me to stay here. This place is a -10/10 and the staff is extremely unhelpful in having these issues and just shrug everything off. Not even an apology when we turned in the key to the room an hour after checking in and told them we cannot stay here for the night. I truly feel scammed by them and this was such a waste of my money...
Read moreMy overall rating is based on the many bad experiences we've had during our stay. However, I rated the staff a bit higher because they did at least try to fix the issue every time.
Our first issue was when we paid for our room and received our key the first night. They don't have a good system to tell what is paid apparently? As they called us and said we needed to pay immediately after we already paid for 7 nights. When we went to the front desk and showed where the money was deducted from our bank, they apologized and explained they got confused since it showed we would pay at the place (which we did a couple hours earlier). I'd recommend not paying in cash just in case, so you can pull up a statement record as other reviews online say the same thing.
Then the first 3 nights after the check in night, each night, our key card would deactivate. When we went to the front desk, they would fix the problem. The second night they reactivated the key card. The third night, they gave us a new one but never put how many nights were left. The fourth night they added in the total days left to be sure it wouldn't keep happening, and finally the issue was fixed for the rest of the stay. We almost booked somewhere else and cut our losses, but we worked with them since they were at least fixing the issues.
Our room cleaning rarely made the beds, only took out the trash when it was overflowing, but usually they did replace the towels and wash cloths.
The bed was hard as a brick and there was cigarette burns in the sheets. Some of the pillows had covers, some did not. And they were lumpy, as well. Plus, there was a light fixture that was broken. While you could turn on the light, the part the bulb sits in was falling off.
It isn't really close to anything. You can take the 330 bus to the Rosemont transit center for the Blue Line from O'Hare Airport, which is what we did to get around and to the place. They don't offer a shuttle or anything and usually recommend an Uber if you call. You have one convenient store with a Dunkin' and Subway inside for anything close by you can just walk to.
Great for a one night stay if you have no other options! And even then, great is...
Read moreId give it an extra half star if that was an option. I did a last minute hotel switch to save $120 on a 4 night stay and decided to stay here instead of a different hotel. This hotel was advertised with "FREE BREAKFAST" just like the other hotel I was going to stay at. Little did I know to my suprise when i woke up this morning excited for breakfast. I was utterly dissapointed in this hotels so called breakfast. TWO TYPES OF CEREAL.
The other hotel I was going to stay at also had free breakfast advertised and I called them about it before i switches to this hotel. The other hotels free breakfast includes waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, oatmeal, biscuits, gravy, yogurt, orange juice, muffins, and other pastrys. In the long run over 4 nights and 5 days here in chicago I would have saved money paying the extra $120 dollers for the other hotel with that great breakfast instead of paying less for O'hare Inn and suites. O'Hare Inn should be ashamed of advertising FREE BREAKFAST if said breakfast is cereal. Cereal is not even considered a continental breakfast at other hotels. At least a continental breakfast has fruit, oatmeal, and yogurt, as well as cereal. I will NEVER TRUST a hotel ever again with out calling to see what their "FREE BREAKFAST" includes.
My second problem with O'hare Inn and suites is the hallways to our room reeked of marijuana which tells me this is a ghetto hotel. Next time I come to Chicago i will be sure to dish out an extra $100 on a 4 night stay for a better hotel that includes the advertised free breakfast and does not reek of weed.
I recomend if you have kids or are more then one person staying in Chicago to dish out a little more money for a better hotel that gives an actual free breakfast and that is closer to the city because after buying breakfast daily for me and 2 others and the gas and travel time it takes to get to the city im now loosing the money I was originally trying to save...
