Despite a clear booking request for adjoining rooms or rooms next to each other we were given rooms far apart. It turns out the room next to one of the rooms we were assigned was empty so we were able to be relocated, but why wasn't this done first?
The room and bathroom were clean as it is a fairly new hotel, but I awoke with a start at 1:30 a.m. when someone aggressively pushed the room door open into the safety lock several times. Thankfully the safety door lock held as I had forgotten to check the deadbolt before going to bed. After trying to get in a couple of times they left, and because they disappeared quickly and weren't trying to enter other rooms it seemed as though it had just been a mistake and they had likely been checked into our room. If they were serious about hurting us, they would have been much quieter about their attempted entry which even awoke my husband in the room next door. After that brief terror, however, and a strange one-ring phone call at 2:30 a.m. it took a while to go back to sleep. When neither of our room keys worked any longer in the morning (having been stored separately on tables in two different rooms overnight) the only explanation we could come up with is that our room change was not properly completed and our 1:30 am visitors were assigned to our room and given key access by the front desk, resetting our room keys in the process. The fact that we were unable to get wi-fi in the compromised room when we first arrived using the last name/room number combination but it worked fine using the information for our second room also supported this possibility. Once we put all of this together in the morning we tried to talk to Kristi at the front desk but she was very dismissive, didn't want to look into it, and didn't want to believe that a safety breach could even happen. It is important to note that at no time did we ask for anything--we were only trying to report a safety breach that became more disconcerting the next morning when our keys didn't work, suggesting more strongly that someone had given our room to someone else while we were still in it. To us, this is a big deal.
Tammy, the manager, was extremely rude and condescending when we tried to explain what happened, even mocking us and openly accusing us of lying. Tammy claimed that she checked the security cameras and that no one was around at 1:30 am, proving that we were lying. When we called the police to look at the footage, the officer confirmed that in fact several people were on our floor at the time, including someone who matched my description of the person at the door. Why did the hotel manager lie? Why is no one, including Hilton corporate, interested in investigating how a serious safety breach like this could have happened? We tried hard to talk Tammy down and help her manage her escalating emotions and focus on the safety issue, but at no point did we feel that she cared. After a while Kristi started saying the right things about taking us seriously and believing us, and we appreciated her attempt to apologize, but Tammy never did despite our efforts to leave on a more positive note. Again, we never asked for anything except that they take this safety breach seriously.
This did happen and we think others should know. Unless you have a concealed carry permit and quick reflexes, I can't recommend this otherwise clean hotel. We certainly won't be back. If you're feeling lucky and decide to stay here, insist on a room away from the ice machines as they seemed to make noise all night and the...
Read moreI WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS
I am writing this letter to express my shear disappointment and feelings while staying at your hotel. I will start off by saying that the hotel itself is a very nice place to stay and the staff was nice at first, however after what I experienced I am truly disappointed and actually in shock at the lack of empathy for a guest staying in your hotel. When I share this story with others, they all asked me what the hotel did to help and are in complete shock and disbelief when I respond with, ânothingâ.
Here is what happened, around 6:50PM I went down to the first floor with my son, sister and nephew to go to the vending machine. When we got back to the second floor, I got out of the elevator helping my nephew and my son was trailing a little behind, I turned around and saw the elevator door was closing so I stuck my leg in the door ASSUMING it would bounce back open like most elevator doors do when something is blocking the way, they open back up. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE, WATCH THE SECURITY TAPES. The door did not open back up and my son was trapped in the elevator. My sister ran downstairs to get help from someone at the hotel, the person at the front desk ( I donât have his name but he has long hair and wears a ponytail) moved very slowly and DID NOT show one drop of concern for the situation. This was a two year old scared and trapped in an elevator and we were trying to get him to rush to help us. Other guests of the hotel were trying to help us get the door opened but it would not budge.
My husband asked the hotel worker if there was any way of getting into the elevator or anything that could be done ASAP as my child was in there screaming and scared, the hotel worker said, â I am not familiar with elevatorsâ I am not expecting him to be however, I am expecting some sort of care or sense of urgency.
Finally the police were called and the fire department came and got my son out. It would have been nice to have at least ONE PERSON from the hotel there during the time, making sure everything was ok and that he got out would have been nice. Or at least one drop of acknowledgement from the hotel would have been nice. An apology, ANYTHING because once again, NORMALLY elevator doors open back up when they are blocked from closing.
So, on top of ZERO acknowledgment from the hotel to ensure the child had gotten out of the elevator safely, the next morning as I was riding back down the elevator the person working at the desk that morning was also in the elevator on the phone with someone telling them the story of MY SON which was completely inaccurate. Telling whoever was on the phone that the child was riding in the elevator alone pressing buttons and got the elevator stuck. WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE, ONCE AGAIN WATCH THE VIDEO. Little did the hotel worker know that he was standing next to the mother and child that he was talking about. Perhaps if anyone from the hotel acknowledged the incident, they would have had the story straight.
I have never in my life experienced anything so unprofessional or disappointing. The main purpose of this letter is to bring awareness to you for if anything like this happens in the future, please at least pretend to feel concerned for the wellbeing of a two year old child. An apology would be nice as I stated not one drop of acknowledgement or empathy was shown towards me or my child.
I will be awaiting...
Read moreThe Pros and cons of staying here. Pretty easy. The pros are the staff are nice and the rooms are clean , but if you like sleeping on a slab of hard cement go ahead and sleep on the bed. The bed was hard as a rock but it served its purpose. Breakfast was horrible , I was expecting bacon and eggs and other options but instead you have a processed out of the box type of deal going on here. Eggs were not fresh and the potatoes were spiced up with some type of strange seasoning. So if you are expecting a good breakfast you can forget about it, go to Ann Maries in Royersford if you decide to stay here. So if you like to be smiled at while your getting ripped off by all means stay here , its not worth the price. The one star is for clean room and behavior of the staff, they are nice but at the same time your still getting ripped off. I was comped one night for staying in their other dump in King of Prussia and there if you don't get up on time your not getting breakfast. Their King of Prussia location is even worse. I stayed there for 3 nights and missed all breakfasts because of having to be somewhere early in the morning but it still does not excuse being comped only one night for spending over $400 at their other location. The only good thing about this location is that they are nice and the rooms are clean but for the money forget it. Hotels are for sure going down the tubes. You would expect better quality food. For an added bonus a man was sleeping in the breakfast area and snoring away while I was trying to consume the garbage that they served. Finally after dealing with the lousy food they serve I was billed $140 for my comped room that was supposed to be "free" due to the poor behavior and rude staff at their other location in king of Prussia and I called the customer service number and the guy was rude about it when I questioned why I was billed for a "free" night. So if that is not enough to prevent you from staying here good luck. Please check your bank statement as well because you might be billed for unexpected charges. Heck they gave me a "free" room "kinda " right? Don't stay here to avoid...
