Stunning property! The views, the leaves (came mid-October), their pool, and decor, all beautiful. The property and the man and woman who work the evening and do check-ins, all deserve 5 stars! Let me explain the reason for my 4-star rating. When I originally called to inquire on booking I spoke with a lady who seemed a bit bleak. I assumed, because I called at 11:00 am and they had just finished breakfast, she may have been exhausted and this wasn’t the norm. I learned otherwise—I went to use their nice little gym facility-it’s located in the lower level-and the posted sign stated it opens at 7:00. At 7:04 a lady walks in to inform me the gym opens at 8:00. She states it’s listed on the check-in sheet, a long sheet of paper with a lot (it’s a lot) to read, which I will confess, I didn’t. I’m on vacation and the last thing I wanted to be bothered with was sitting down and taking 20 min to read a lot of information. The lovely people who checked me in told me about the gym, it’s location, but no one mentioned the time. I assumed the sign at the gym was correct. This could easily be changed to avoid confusion. It wasn’t the informing me that was bothersome, it was her tone. I felt like she was scolding me-as she continued on as I walked upstairs-she then proceeded to try and point out where it is written on the checkin information sheet-which I already had informed her I didn’t look at. The fact she wanted to continue to “prove her point” was unnecessary and tacky. I realized it was she that I spoke with on the phone; the familiar voice and acerbic comments. This is a lovely vacation spot, to have someone like this working in the morning and setting the tone for your guests day-Not the best idea. Maybe she is the owner? I’d also like to mention, the kitchen staff should know their voices carry into the dining area, so breakfast is full of voices and personal conversations from the staff.

We heard that this place was one of the best if not the best Inn in the Camden/lincolnville area so choose to stay here. We had a room overlooking the pool and the ocean. The Inn was really nice and well kept. We had breakfast there one morning and it was good but the second day we had breakfast it was really bad. Our food came out and our toast, bacon, sausage and home fries were cold. It wasn’t even a little bit warm. It felt like the food had been prepped a long time before it was served to us and by the time we got the food it seemed like it had been sitting out for a very long time. It was mid July and the heated pool was cold and barely anyone was using it. The weather wasn’t great. Foggy, cloudy, with some light showers. But the hot tub was also out of service. I didn’t think much of it until I met with some friends for food and one of them was telling me the inn has been in a steady down line and they hear complaints about the pool being cold and the hot tub always being shut down which I didn’t bring up to him. Staff was amazing tho. The women running the front desk were great, nice and a lot of fun.

We stayed here for three nights and very much enjoyed it. The grounds are beautiful, and they were working on them seemingly every day. The infinity pool was an awesome touch being able to swim while looking out over the water. We did stay in the upper building which required a bit of a walk to get to the pool and main building, but it wasn’t much of a problem. They were kind enough to give us some chocolate covered strawberries and a hand written note as we were celebrating a special occasion. The rooms are spacious and have beautiful views with the fireplace being an awesome touch in our room. The Inn is also about 10 minutes from Camden which is incredibly convenient. The only minor “complaints” I would have is the locks on the doors were pretty outdated and you had to slam to the doors to shut them (not a big deal, but something to improve upon) and it was eerily quiet in the upper building (an easy fix with some speakers to play some jazz or elevator music). Overall, it was an awesome and beautiful stay and would recommend to a friend!

Beautiful location, well maintained grounds and priceless views with a great king size room that was very clean, spacious and making you feel at home. Of 5 staff members we meet, 4 were beyond expectations with great hospitality skills in welcoming us …… such as walking us thru the local restaurant options and the beautiful attractions near the Inn, greeting us in & out as we toured the area, and serving. We had one experience with one staff member that was not pleasant. It is inexcusable for a staff member to target a guest out of spite. My husband did not realize that a breakfast area needed to be checked in and wait for a host to seat him and that he overlooked a sign. After this was pointed out to him the staff member asked him to step away from the seating area to see if they could accommodate a single person. Made it sound like reservations were needed and they would see what they could do. The staff member then pointed him to a porch to wait. The staff member then called me directly in the room to confirm my husband was eating alone and quickly stated they normally seat in couples or groups and that this was unusual. When I confirmed I would not be eating she then stated she would now seat him and hung up. I asked for my husband to work directly with the management to give them an opportunity to acknowledge and listen to both sides of the situation. I’m very disappointed in the Managements way of handling the situation, with a lack of further correspondence or phone call to discuss the situation at hand. Yet they quickly dismissed the situation and referred back to a sign was overlooked and the weather caused less seating capacity................Bottom line---- Management allowed a guest to be targeted with spite and did not make any attempt to have a detailed conversation of the experience with my husband after the complaint was filed!!! Management needs more training on how to handle unpleasant situations and should have placed more of an effort into the complaint that was filed. As you'll notice on Managements response to Brook Cannedy's review below, the "smaller table" they waited to seat him at was the exact same table he first walked in and sat at before the situation occurred. Had Management reached out they may have realized an employee was frustrated with a guest not seeing a sign and thus escalated the situation for "5-7 minutes" when seating him right back at the exact same seat she asked him to leave from........ when no other guests where waiting, no hostess at the front desk\check-in area (which is less then 10 feet from the breakfast area )….. and there were three open table tops for "smaller seating" to accommodate "1" person....... Not a good sign on Managements skills to seek out details and work with both the employee and customer. Instead, Management became one sided over this to fire back a message that missed the overall situation to handle and close the complaint with "I hope the rest of your travels in Maine...

Location was stunning set on the ocean with spectacular views. Room are ok, large and clean but here’s where the whole thing fell apart for us||Day in arrival after a 9 hour drive, was looking forward to a nice shower, only to find no shower gel in the room. Asked at reception the next day to be promised it would be refilled, upon return to our room later in the day, still empty. Had to ask again and this time it was filled at the end of day two of a three day stay. No attention to detail. Given the refillable container was completely empty I would suggest it hadn’t been checked for weeks. ||Afternoon cookies are served from 2pm, on day two of our stay we went to reception (not knowing the 2 o’clock start for cookies) asked the guy at reception who promptly and assertively expressed that we were 3 minutes early and we could wait. The message in itself was fine but the manner of delivery was short and not in line with a $600 per night stay.||Day three breakfast, we understood it was a 7am start but turns out it was 7.30. We arrived at 7.27 and joined a small line up of people waiting. Staff milling around with no acknowledgement of our existence. I asked if it was self seating and was told we open in two minutes. Again the manner was blunt. It feels like all the staff belong to a union and will only work on the dot of start time and not before. It would have been very easy just to say, take a seat and we will be right with you but no we stood and in the strike of 7.30 the staff spring into action. ||Food was great at breakfast, no compliant there at all. ||If the attitude could be managed this would be a premier location for seasoned travellers, however based on what we experienced our business goes elsewhere next...
