This motel IS clean (sort of) and they are nice to let early check-ins.
We found our room had a huge mirror on the ceiling, and around 3 sides of the bed. The head lamps (for reading) are so close to the shelf they are hard to turn on and (headboard is like a book case) that you'd have to lie flat on the bed to use them to read!! IF you sit up---you cover the lights!
Then the room smelled of a mix of PineSol Sraight up (NOT diluted) and burmashave--just and very strong smell (my allergy/asthma cough did NOT like the strong smell).
The individual thermostat was great because when we took off the bedspread--the "blanket" only covered the top (Nothing on sides) of the bed! AND it was full of cigarette burn holes, and five dead bugs! We rolled it up and slept with just the sheet. We got our jackets but turned the thermostat up to 72'F and then didn't need any jackets or blanket.
The parking in the back units is not thought out because if someone parks for the next room--you're penned in and can't get out. Lucky most of the renters left before night or early morning.
Our room looked nothing like the one shown with the paneling on the walls!
The price is low and the people seemed nice but I would NOT stay there again unless it was an emergency. I think the owners really try to make it nice but it needs some better suppllies, AND the lamp that was a swag light--the cord had lost it's insultation and we thought it unsafe (you had to plug it in to...
Read moreShould it be a 3 star rating? You might not think so after you read this, but you'll understand why I did it. Myself and some family needed a place to stay for two nights in the middle August 2016. I didn't make the reservations, so I can't talk about that aspect of it, but I will help with the rest. We wanted an affordable place. I was surprised to hear that it was only $75 a night for a three bed room. With that price comes with a reason why so cheap. I'll make it fast and easy for yous. No small items, like soap or shampoo. Beds have Bed Bug covers on them. Loud, Loud AC Units. Circuit breakers blow when you use an Iron and it takes them a half hour to simply hit the breaker. Drunk Iron workers being rowdy. Drugs being sold in two different rooms throughout the night. I think, prostitution takes place there. Pretty sure it does. TV was super quiet and bad picture with glitches. Feet get dirty just from the carpeting. Shower floors are brown. No hand drying towel. No towel bar. No clothes hangers Bed was broken, held with duct tape. lol The Good News!! Rooms are Cheap Cheap... get what you pay for, I guesssss? AC works strong
So it gets a 3 star because they're cheap rooms and that's what we were looking for. It worked...
Read moreIf you want a cheap place for the weekend in Altoona, this is your place, It's no Hilton, it's not even Motel 6, but you will get what you pay for, very inexpensive lodging . For the most part the place was clean and it looks like they've made some improvements, and upgrades. I read a disconcerting review about outdated bathrooms and dirty carpets, and bedbugs. As far as the bedbugs I believe they took care of that problem. Also the outdated tubs, we're replaced by showers with a place to sit on either side of the shower. They still have a ways to go though, like, the lid to the toilet seat, new carpeting, no hooks in the bathroom to hang your towels, and to clean and sanitize the shower curtains, we found mildew growing on the shower curtains. Also changing some of there cleaning practices, we saw one of there cleaning ladies place the clean bedding she was preparing to put on the bed, on the ground outside the office. If they would correct these few little things the place wouldn't be half bad place to stay. I hope the owner sees...
